One of the most memorable meals of my recent trip through Venice and the Veneto. I'm usually wary of places where someone is standing outside the entrance, trying to coax passers-by in, but their posted menu intrigued me with some unusual dishes I'd not seen listed elsewhere. We were there on a lovely quiet Monday, able to dine on the beautiful, peaceful terrace. Our service was excellent from start to finish, and so was the food and wine! We started with a mixed seafood antipasti featuring the Venetian classics: octopus, sarde en saor, salt cod over polenta, canoce shrimp, and more. This was served with a delightful assortment of freshmade breads and rolls (replenished without question). Everything was delicate and perfectly prepared. We then opted for two pastas: I had the tagliatelle with canoce and "angry" tomato sauce, my sweetie had the spaghetti with an unusual sauce made from tiny local crabs that had a wonderful earthy/oceany freshness, not unlike sea urchin in flavor. We finished with an excellent cheese plate, where each cheese was described in detail and paired perfectly with either a spicy or sweet condiment (and more bread). It was all in all a perfect lunch that was satisfying without leaving us weighed down.
No hesitations giving Villa 600 my highest recommendation. If you are visiting Torccello then this is a wonderful place to stop to appreciate the quiet beauty of this little oasis of calm away from the crowds of Venice. read more
