I've been to Vikings a couple of times, and have had a good time both times. The food is good, but I've had a couple of issues with it. The nachos at Vikings are delicious and come with a really good white cheese sauce on them. Then for some reason they cover all the warm cheese sauce and warm meat with a pile of ice cold shredded cheese, tomatoes, raw red onion, and jalapenos. I'm fine with cold veggies on nachos, but the cold shredded cheese is very interesting and not a move I've seen before. It isn't that it is a bad move necessarily, but the most recent time I went they really went hard with the ice cold shredded cheese and it was piled high everywhere. It really overwhelmed everything else and I didn't really care for it. The wing sauces are good, but the wings themselves are pretty lean. There isn't much meat on them. read more

First time in and I will never return. From the minute we sat down at the bar (7pm New Years night) the bartender had a chip on his shoulder. I'm not talking disinterested but just plain ass rude. He didn't want to take or drink order but when he did, he asked if we were eating. We said we were having some drinks but when we were getting ready to leave we'd be ordering some pork nachos. We ordered two of the large beers and I left to use the restroom. When I came back, I literally had taken one drink when this bartender 'tosses' a to-go bag on the counter and says here's your nachos and walks away. He walks back over and I tell him we're not taking these nachos because we hadn't ordered them yet and what sense would it have made to order them warm/to-go already when we had just started drinking our big beers. He literally grabbed the to-go bag, turned around and tossed 6-8 feet into the trash and walked away. 1) he does realize he basically works for tips?!?!? 2) his parents obviously did a terrible job of preparing him for interaction with adults, humans. 3) why exactly does he think he's so tough/special!?!? Considering there aren't many options on the north side of this town, it's terrible that anyone should have to put up with this 15 year old boy behavior from a man (man aged anyway. read more

Awesome service and a great new facelift to the old Reed's Ringside! Much brighter, more natural light. Lighter walls. Same bunch of TVs to watch the games. The furniture is all new and they still have the pool tables!! The menu has had a facelift as well. They keep the Reed's Ringside favorites and added a few new healthier and delicious options like strawberry salads, different sandwiches, etc... So glad that they were able to remodel and keep going. They increased the number of bottled beer options. Some better non-domestic choices. Come check it out!!! read more

This is the first time eating here since the remodel. The is much nicer and that was needed. My wife loved the fries and her burger. I was disappointed with my old favorite, the chicken and noodles. There wasn't much chicken and the mashed potatoes were out of an industrial box and had no flavor. It is too bad there can't be real potatoes. Could be so good but not there yet. Was a group of 4 of us. Decided to stop here after coming back from a weekend trip to Omaha. We sat down and was greeted immediately. I got the wings and an order of sidewinder fries. My friends got the chicken strips and side salads. Everyone agreed the food was good and we'd be back. We've been coming to this grille for 8 years. I'd give this place 5stars for the food, but the service recently is horrible. Wait staff hangs around the bar chatting. After being in the building 10 minutes went to the bar and asked for menus. Was assured the server would be at the table. Waited ten minutes for server to show at the table. Didn't bring menus. Took the drink order. Ten minutes later no drinks. Server was nowhere to be found. This experience has happened three weeks in a row. Not interested in going back. Holton brewery has amazing service. We just placed a to go order. When it was picked up it was tied tight in the sack so unable to go over it to make sure it was correct. Out of an order of 6 items we were missing an item and one item was wrong. When I called about it was told they couldn't give me a credit could only remake it when we already were an hour from our original order to place the order. While talking with them they hung up on me. When I called back my call wasn't answered at first when they did answer I told them they hung up on me and he said no you hung up on me. I did not. Another disappointing north Topeka restaurant. If I ever bother to eat there again I guess I won't complain about the mediocre food because that is a little better than no food. Different name same lousy service. Came with family on a slow Tuesday night and waited 10 minutes without being acknowledged. Same waitress passed by us three times while the other FIVE waitresses stood hovering around an empty bar. Needless to say we walked out. We as a family or group have ate here at least 5 times since the face lift and name change with once being a to go order. Every time we have been greeted promptly with a smile, and food arrives as fast as expected for how busy they are at that time. Every server we have had was always polite and on top of refills if needed. Food has always been good. The owner I guess is still Damon, and he has came around when there just asking to make sure everything was good and very polite. Would highly recommend this north side bar/restaurant. Can not attest to the negative reviews because all my times with family and group parties there have been good. We have waited longer on a Friday or Saturday night when they're packed, but that's going to be anywhere though. read more
