Unfortunately, they didn't have a local tutor who I thought would be a good match for my daughter, so we opted for an online tutor. VT went above and beyond to find a good match - my daughter was *not* looking forward to being tutored, so a good personality match was just as important as tutoring skills. I even commented to my wife that VT seemed to truly want to help us - not just get our money. We ended up working with Amber S out of North Carolina. She gets along great with Megan, knows how to efficiently use use the online tools, and has made a world of difference with Megan's academic performance. Megan had an OK understanding of the general concepts, but needed help tying everything together, and coming up with a procedure to organize the physics problems so she could solve them methodically, step by step. Amber did an amazing job helping Megan put all the pieces together. Megan scored a 95% on her most recent unit test in school and got a 92% on the lab. This is a HUGE improvement in her scores. VT is definitely worth considering if your child needs some extra help. They provide a great service, and seem to take great pride in what they do and how they do it. And an EXTRA SPECIAL thanks to Amber for all the help she has given Megan. Update: The semester just finished, and Megan got an A- on her physics final. The end result was a semester grade two letters higher than where she was before being tutored. Great Job Megan, Great job Amber, great job VT.

Let me begin by saying that I have attempted College Algebra three times, and three times I have…read moredropped it out of sheer frustration, confusion, and hopelessness. If you are like me and feel like math is just something that you'll never "get", it is time to give Danielle a call. From the first time you meet with Danielle, it will be clear to you that you are not in for the usual math learning experience. She is cool, laid back and has a great sense of humor, which means everything to someone like me with major math anxiety. Furthermore, you will NEVER feel stupid working with Danielle; She is the poster child of patience, laughing it off, trying to explain it another way and helping you work through whatever mental roadblock you're hitting. If you had told me a few months ago that I would actually look FORWARD to learning math, I just couldn't have believed it, because I never even thought learning math was something I was capable of. But now? Working through problems all by myself while Danielle watches on and silently nods in approval. Getting 100% on EVERY homework assignment. No joke. Danielle has literally worked miracles for me. Oh, and did I mention how ridiculously affordable her services are? When I began searching for tutors, I was getting quotes in the $55-$65/hour range, and I actually contemplated it because, well, more money means they must be REALLY awesome, right? Don't be a sucker- Danielle is the best bang for your buck. I could go on forever singing her praises, because frankly, she deserves it and I just don't know where I would be without her. Actually, I do know- probably homeless under a bridge somewhere because I decided I would just never finish college because of the stupid math requirement. But seriously. If you, your kids, your brother or your dog* are looking for a math tutor, your search can just stop here. *She might not actually be able to tutor a dog. But really, how is your dog in school anyway?

So ... after all the years, I received my associates degree in Mathematics, Engineering and Natural…read moreScience. I credit Danielle with much of my success because she helped me develop study habits and thought processes that carried me through my undergraduate courses. I am transferring to UC Davis this fall and wish Danielle was closer. You are very lucky Kansas City.

I started off as a novice guitarist and saw huge improvements in both my creativity and ability to play more difficult pieces of music.

If you are just starting or looking for a refresher he can teach you theory in a easy to understand manor and give you fun exercises to practice until your next meeting. Each week building off of what you learned, giving you more tricks up your sleeve to be able to improvise and effectively create your own music. The theory portion is where you'll usually get stuck in with the majority of instructors. But, with Dan, there is more to be had. After that foundation is learned is when it starts to get really fun. Dan not only has a vast library of digital music tabs which a student can learn how to play along to their favorite songs by artists; he also has equipment and software that a student, with Dan's help, can create and learn how to form songs out of nothing. Gaining additional valuable knowledge that goes hand in hand with playing guitar. I've had instructors in the past who were hard to talk to, awkward or made me feel uncomfortable when trying to learn. I never felt that way taking lessons from Dan. He is extremely easygoing, personable, patient, talented and well versed on all kinds of music, new or old. You will feel comfortable from the start, as Dan will figure out what your interests are and tailor your lessons to cater them. He is not the kind of instructor that will try to force feed you a genre you are not into. I can honestly say he has shaped the way I view music. Not only can i figure out songs by ear most of the time, I am able to pick apart each instrument while listening to songs and have a better appreciation to the effort musicians put into their work. He introduced me to bands as a kid I had never heard of, which all these years later are now my favorites and to this day still enjoy jamming out to. Simply put, look no further, if you are serious about trying guitar lessons, Dan is the man!
