Viking not only sharpened our entire knife set for an unexpectedly reasonable price, they restored the points on two broken-tipped knives. Knives are sharper than when first purchased, and easy to keep the edge honed. Thanks Viking! read more

Outstanding work. Erik is so nice, too. Amazing turnaround time, and very reasonable prices. He was willing to tackle what other knife sharpening services refused, and brought those knives back to life. Highest recommendation. read more

Viking Sharp was able to repair the damage done by a different old New York knife sharpening truck even though it was quite bad. Erik was super responsive, able to accommodate my specific schedule, very personable, and fairly priced. So glad to have found a new go-to knife sharpener! read more

Erik was very responsible, very flexible, and had a great turnaround time. I've put off sharpening my knives for too long, and when I tried them after Erik sharpened them they moved through everything like butter. Can't recommend enough! read more

Quick and thorough service. I brought over a dozen knives and he was really thoughtful in telling me what needs work and what doesn't. He also fixed a chipped knife which I thought couldn't be repaired. Will return read more

Great work! Fair price! 24 hour turn-around for 10 items; knives, scissors, ulus! Erik even got a nick out of my ulu and sharpened both of mine to the nth! I highly recommend! read more

Erik is is fantastic. You can trust him with any of your fancy knives. I highly recommend going out of your way to get your knives sharpened for 3 reasons: 1. he will do them while you wait. No middle man. Some of these places you need to drop off and wait several days to pick them up. That doesn't work for most people who don't have the time/need the knives to cook. 2. Trustworthy professional knife sharpening. 3. Reasonable Prices Worth the trip. read more

Erik did a wonderful job sharpening my knives! Now, I'm not terribly rough on my knives and I take fairly good care of them, but mine needed some attention, so I decided to look for a local person who could bring some life back to them. Behold, I found Erik! I brought all of them to him in the morning and he was finished by the early afternoon, so his turn around is exceptionally good. The knives are razor sharp and look beautiful. I will definitely return to him in the future for all of my knife sharpening needs. read more

I am amazed that, in less than 24hours, Erik was able to give me back 3 of my favorite Japanese knives as sharp and even sharper than they used to be when I bought them in Tokyo. They all passed with an A++ the newspaper test! It took me a long time to find someone in NYC with such rare skills, but now I know where to go. Recommend without hesitation! read more

Just picked up 4 old knives & an ancient pair of scissors & I'm very very happy. The crummy scissors that before could barely cut paper are freshly sharp enough to cut out fabric. The knives are perfect. I like kitchen knives to be dangerously sharp, slice-your-fingers-off-before-you-feel-any-pressure sharp. This is like having brand new knives. I've had all my knives sharpened several times before, but not like this! read more

I like nice things and I don't mind spending $$$ but I'm hard on stuff. This was the case for my Shun Knives. I had spent a ton of money only to abuse them. After three years, 4 apartments, daily use, stabbing frozen things, opening cardboard boxes, twice chipping the tip and most unforgivable - washing them in the dishwasher - my knives were a dull and haggard mess. I know I'm high impact and don't deserve my knives. But I really love these knives and wanted to seem them resurrected. Checked Yelp. Saw that for $10 Viking will pick up and deliver. They charge maybe $6 per knife as compared to my last guy in Chelsea Market. My knives were picked up on Tuesday, returned on Thursday. They are like NEW all for $45. Erik was able to fix the tip on both chipped knives, fixed a divot in the butcher knife and they are so sharp I actually broke skin already (Erik warned me). Just awesome. My hubs is like you can use them however you want to now that we have Viking. Thanks Erik and Viking!!! read more

Like a caring dentist, Erik was kind about the mess I walked in with. He had my chef and pairing knife sorted in less than 20 minutes and the prices were a great value. Very happy with the service, the upper west side is lucky to have him. read more

Erik is a pleasure to deal with. I got my 6 knives sharpened on the same day as I delivered them. Efficient communication, and very reasonably priced. My husband practically destroyed one of my Henckels knives using a cheap sharpener and Erik repaired the tip and blade. What a find! read more

If my knives are happy; I am happy. And my knives are happy. Erik was always very responsive and informative. He took my battered old blades and worked wonders in a very short period of time for an extremely reasonable price. I would most strongly recommend him and his services to anyone in question. read more

Another satisfied customer! I dropped off three knives, went for a manicure on 100 St and ran two other errands and they were done. Quick, easy and the job he did is great. Go! read more

Erik did an amazing job! The price is very reasonable and he is very nice. Nothing to complain about. I've been to more than a few places to have my knives sharpened, but some places do a terrible job and ruin your knives. You can trust Erik and just leave your important knives with him and you'll be happy! read more

Great experience. Hand sharpened knives while I waited. Good price, nice guy, great work.

The complete experience--all of it--was delightful and gratifying. Dropped off on Friday; picked up Saturday morning. I happily recommend this amiable fellow and his superb knife-sharpening skills. read more

My turn to add to Erik's list of 5-star reviews! I decided to give Erik a try based on his Yelp record. And I couldn't be happier. I had several knives that needed sharpening, including a chef's knife and varying sizes of paring knives. I could hardly slice a mushroom before the knifes were sharpened. Working with Erik is a very unique New York experience. A couple of text messages to set up the appointment. Then a meeting at his UWS apartment to drop off the knives. A couple of texts the next day and back to the UWS where Erik was waiting outside with my knives in a bag. I took them right home and tested them out -- mushrooms beware!! Erik did a great job. I highly recommend his services. read more

Erik was great to work with. Responsive, flexible and was able to make a tight turnaround work. Also put an edge like a diamond on all of my blades which is what matters most. Would definitely recommend Viking Sharp! read more

Erik is great, great. Thanks to Erik, my Henckels kitchens knives are as sharp as new. He also sharpened the knife blade on my Leatherman multi-tool. First-rate. Highly recommend. read more

I was happy to learn that there is somebody close by sharpening knives for a very reasonable $7. I popped by Erik's place on the UWS, we had a pleasant chat, and he did excellent work on my gyutou in a just a few minutes. If you live in the area and need your knives sharpened, it's definitely worth going to see him. read more

Great service. Eric is very responsive and courteous. I had my 2 chef knives and 2 paring knives sharpened. Dropped them off on the way to work and picked them up in the way back. Very happy with the results. Reasonable price. read more

Erik did an excellent job on my knives! Made a same day appointment for drop off and picked up my entire set of sharpened knives the next day. Great customer service and the price is right too. Definitely recommend. read more

I had been planning to go to a place downtown to have my chef's knife sharpened, but Erik's positive reviews on Yelp and more convenient location made me change my mind. I emailed him and received a response almost immediately setting up a time to stop by on my way home from work. He was able to sharpen my knife in about 10 minutes while I waited. Very convenient and very friendly! read more

So we found Erik online. With great Yelp reviews. So we gave him a call, dropped off the knives, and the guy actually had them ready for pickup in 24 hours. And damn are they sharp. Put a great edge on the one Shun and did the same with the set of Henckels. And was, shockingly, even able to get a great edge on the cleaver, which is no carbon stainless. I've already recommended him to friends and will be bringing in several pairs of kitchen shears that need some work. Five Stars without Reservation! read more

If you want capital S - SHARP knives, use this company. Eric came to my apartment (UWS), picked up about 10 knives and then returned them that day. Service was excellent, the price was right and it was easy for me. I couldn't believe the difference in my knives and how sharp they are. (Eric says he uses the "hair test" to make sure the knives are sharp.) I will definitely use Viking Sharp again. read more
