A quick update. The last time Mike sharpened my Wustof knives, the end result was really off. There were jagged edges and notches! It was a real mess. The novelty of the truck and door-to-door service had worn off by then. I took them to Neat and Sharp in Harlem, but didn't mention the previous work that Mike had done. He sharpened everything from a cheap kitchen aid chef's knife, a wusthof cleaver, an old German Kitchen knife and even took care of my great grandmother's pocket knife, which he dated back to the 1950s. The pocket knife had been neglected and was rusty, he made the blade look and feel spectacular, and incredibly sharp. You couldn't ask for better service and pricing. There's nothing more annoying than a dull knife, especially with all the cooking at home that I've done for the past year and my Wüsthof knives were in desperate need for a proper sharpening. A quick Yelp search and I found Mike -- we texted on a Friday and he said that he'll be in the area Saturday morning and to text back then. Fast fwd: to this morning, I sent him a text and he responded very quickly. In about 10 mins or so, he was parked in front of my building and I met him with the 11 knives that I needed to sharpen. He's so lovely and a fellow dog lover -- I recently adopted a puppy myself! -- and the whole process took just about maybe 15 mins? All 11 knives sharpened for just $40 and I gave him a tip, because it's COVID times and that felt appropriate. Next time, I'll spread the word to others in my building!
