Didn't like the bun bo heu and pho with beef. Also the spring rolls with shrimps wasn't for us. Overall it's also pretty pricey. I'd give this place another chance and order Banh Xeo next time. Staff is friendly

Amazing dinner!! Such a great start to our vacation after a long day of travel. The servers were attentive and helpful. The pho was out of this world and the crunch of our spring rolls was perfect. We also finished with some Jasmine tea perfect for the chilly night.

Papaya salad w shrimp and "strings" of fatty pork (yep that is how they do it in the motherland). Nc mm pha as dressing, but not fishy

What a little gem! I would give them 6 stars if I could, alas! This little restaurant is run by a Vietnamese family, who almost went to the US but the Austrian got them at the last minute, lucky them! Service: excellent! Friendly but not overbearing. When we got to the restaurant all the seats were taken. We were told by an apologetic waiter about a 30 min wait. However someone leaves and we were promptly seated in less than 5 min. Win! Atmosphere: cozy, clean, comfortable and stylish furniture. Not extravagant but simply just lovely. (No typical Asian cluttery, which is VERY difficult for us Vietnamese, so they should get an extra star for that :) ) Food: super fresh ingredients. But then again maybe that is just European style! And boy, people weren't kidding about the authenticity. I assure you that this little restaurant sticks to the original motherland recipes and styles, and even enhance it further by actually making their beef stock from real beef instead of MSG. In the US most dishes are Americanized a bit, mostly to reflect the abundance of meat and eggs so not necessary a bad thing. However it is refreshing to see dishes prepared how they would be at a high end restaurant in Saigon. We can testify for their ph, bún bò Hu, fresh spring rolls, and papaya salad. Location: in the middle of downtown, take the U to the center stop and this restaurant is right there. Prices: €€ is correct, expect €20 or more per person for main course, drinks and appetizers. However it is totally worth it. Will come back if we are in the area Overall: a wonderful find! It is weird to recommend an Asian restaurant when there are so many delicious Austrian restaurants in the area, but in a sense, this reflects the diversity and cultural richness of globalization. So go all out and indulge yourself in some delicious and healthy Vietnamese food!

This is a decent asian restaurant but don't expect any frills. The food is great and tasty. Service is decent and friendlyish. Local is a bit grubby and in need of a facelift. More of a quick stop for a meal then a place to linger and stay but if thats what you want then this is the place for you.

This is a small place hidden around the corner at the south end of the Kärtnerstraße shopping area, near the Karlsplatz and Karlskirche. My colleague and I were actually lucky to have timed it perfectly when visiting the place because a few minutes later, the place was already full, and the owner had tell incoming customers to come back in about an hour because there were no more tables available. That already tells you how popular the establishment is, even if it can be hard to find for someone who is not familiar with this area. As for the food itself, it was fantastic. The Vietnamese spring rolls were hot and fresh out of the fryer, with a leaf of lettuce under each roll and some dipping sauce. There are many other healthy and delicious choices at this place, and I really wanted to try the Vietnamese pancake that was filled with a variety of items, but I settled with the pho. I just couldn't help myself; it was chilly outside, and naturally I was just in the mood for hot soup. The pho was outstanding. The broth was rich, savory, and flavorful. The portion was just right, and it came with a side of fresh bean sprouts, basil, coriander, and a lime wedge. The service was excellent, and is also tourist and expat-friendly. They have an English-language menu available as well. To quote Arnold Schwarzenegger: "I'll be back."

Ohhhhh how could I have JUST discovered this place 2 weeks before I leave Vienna?! The food here is amazing. Brilliant flavours, great menu choices (with veggie options) and really great service. We were a group of 14 and the place is quite small so I wasn't sure how they would deal with us...And I am happy to report that the staff were brilliant. It has been a long, long time since I have had service as enjoyable as that in Vienna - so thank you Vietthao! I had the Mango-Schrimps Salat for starter which came with coarsely crushed peanuts on the top giving it a great texture. The flavours were great. I really enjoyed it. For main course I had the "Reismehlflade" - Vietnamese pancake which came with fish and meat inside (schrimps, calamari and pork). I asked the waiter for his help and he came and showed us how we should eat it....Open the pancake, add the salad leaves and herbs, close it back up and eat it with the fish sauce on the side. Extremely tasty and filling. I would highly recommend this restaurant...I have been to a few Vietnamese restaurants in Vienna and this is at the top of my list now.

Food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. The waiter spend some time with us to advice how to eat what we ordered. I felt very welcome in that place. Duck with sweat potatoes worth a try! Yummy :) Booking a bigger table is also possible although the place looks tiny.

We just had dinner again at Vietthao. Also, this time the food was excellent. We had pre-booked the "Festtagsmenü" which consisted of excellent appetizers, vegetables (water spinach), chicken, soup and an amazing tofu-dish. The quality of the food as well as the service were excellent!! We will surely come back again soon.

This restaurant has become one of my favorites in Vienna, with a true Vietnamese cuisine full of flavors and beautiful in its complex simplicity! The food tastes amazing, no matter if meat, fish, seafood or noodles, the cooking and seasoning of their every dish are just perfect. The decor is sober, the waiters are kind, calm and friendly, the food authentic... I simply love it!

Probably one of the best Vietnamese food I've ever eaten (and I've eaten a lot of it around the globe). Here is an Authentic kitchen, prepared by a true chef. I ordered the Goi Dudu papaya salad- which was extremely tangy, spicy and fresh, and aromatic. Also ordered were delicious summer roles, and what was by far the best Pho Bo I've had in my life. The quality of the beef was extraordinary, and so was everything else. For dessert came a beautiful glass containing a rice ball sweet, in ginger coconut and honey sauce. Fabulous!

worst restaurant in Vienna! the waiters were very impatient. i understand that many of the tables had the sign RESERVED, so obviously we cant sit. we asked for a to go plate and sat on one of the empty tables without the RESERVED sign. the waiter was mad at us and yelled"you have to go when someone comes! i said i need the table!" so i asked, is it reserved? and he said yes. how on earth would i know that the table is reserved if it doesnt have a sign on it? and you havent already told me so. you just yell at your guest? when we took the dish home to eat, which was only 500 meters away. we found the rice was very warm but the meat and vegetables were stone cold, especially the inside of the meat. i wonder if the meat was left over. when we were first handed the dish, i felt it was a bit cold but i didnt know that it was that cold. i should have yelled at the waiter in the first place and demand him to change. but now its all too late and all i can do is to leave a comment here and warn the other guests not to come. havent seen a restaurant as bad as this one throughout the four countries that im visiting on his european trip.

We ordered crispy roll, pho, and the special noodle of the day which is made with chicken and porky broth. While the crispy roll was fair, the noodles and particularly the broth were excellent. It's a small place with only a few tables but we got our seats rather quickly. Service was very friendly.

Deep fried egg in thit kho. A very unique and nice twist to a very classic dish.

Small restaurant near Vienna Marriott. front door is draped for cold wind ( it February as of this…read morewriting ) it helps but is breezy. It's filled today with Viennese - lots of German discussions. The close seating makes for loud conversation. The mid day special came with a mixed salad in a fried open wrap (bowl) - tasty but a bit Heavy on oil. The mid day menu is in German - take a minute understand it. The main menu is German and english. The kitchen is small and backed up quickly as the tables filled for lunch. In true Austrian style each dish is served correctly - plating was good and the spice/freshness showed. It just takes a while. Sitting by the door is uncomfortable. Spring rolls - elegant and complex flavor. The detail on the dish is impressive (for an American used to Simple Pho.) Sparkling water of course and they have Singha! Egg rolls where not wrapped tightly and absorbed a lot of oil. While crisp it was oily and suffered in eating (oil every where) taste was good but different for well made layered egg rolls. Sauces where good and appeared made in shop. Setting the cut edge down helped drain oil. These are served hot and stayed that way for several minutes, the inside can burn your mouth so be careful. I would get these again - the flavor is worth it The shrimp garlic noodle dish arrived. Shrimp Panco and garlic sauce cooked perfectly. The noodles where poor, the sauce off - disappointing. The Shrimp however made you want a dinner portion, flavorful - I would order it again - maybe on cabbage and skip the noodles. A table treat for desert are small fruit dishes. The pineapple was great - it was small.. but a great add to the meal.

The duck salad appetizer is married beautifully with mint, red onion and chili infused spices that really give it a kick. I noted hints of lemongrass and it was so good and the duck prepared so perfectly with both crispy and soft meat, we ordered a second dish of it to share at our table. The Pho soups are delicious too. We were less enthralled with our red coconut curry with vegetables, but only because we anticipated medium heat but it was just sweet and very mild. Our restaurants in the states add heat, so we would just recommend if you do as we'll, to ask--they can certainly do it. The service was very good, a sweet Viet girl made sure to check on us, but not where it was distracting. candlelit tables were and the black and white themed dining room were really stunning. I highly recommend this to local Viennese as well as tourists--it was reasonable yet delightful. Even their wines by the glass did not disappoint!

Unfortunately, I went during the lunch rush hour, so it was crowded there and I was unable to get a seat, much less any lunch. So, as I was walking around the area, not wanting to go away empty-handed, I happened to have found this place on the Burggasse, on my way back to the U2/U3 Volkstheater metro station. I went in, and walked back out because I saw there were no tables available except one. However, I was really hungry so I decided to go back in a couple of minutes later, just to try the food and see how it was. There are only 4 tables inside. Though I have never been to Vietnam before, this reminded me of that episode of Bizarre Foods or No Reservations during their episodes, when they showed these various restaurants in Hanoi that doubled as a kitchen and even a residence, with just a couple of small tables and a some plastic chairs. Now, of course, this being in a city, they didn't have that, though I think the place was meant to be more of a take out joint than a sit-down restaurant, though it is possible to eat there if you are lucky enough to get a table, which I was. The first thing I had were some fried spring rolls, filled with meat, and served with lettuce wraps, Thai basil (or mint leaves), and nuoc mam (Vietnamese fish sauce for dipping). They were quite OK. A little bit smaller than I expected, but still delicious. I then had some of their pho (Vietnamese noodle soup). It came piping hot, the way I like it and how soup should be, with a side garnish of bean sprouts, mint leaves or Thai basil, lemon, and hot chili peppers. I think it was a little bit different pho than what I'm used to, because if I'm not mistaken, this was a Northern Vietnam/Hanoi-style preparation. The noodles were a little bit wider, and the broth was a little bit more clearer than what I've had at Vietnamese pho places in the US (of which many are of South Vietnam origin). Regardless, the soup was pretty good, though it would have been nice to have had a variety of meats found in pho, such as beef tendon, brisket, meatballs, and even tripe. The soup here only offered sliced beef or meatballs. But I also understand that they prepare it this way, not only because I imagine that certain cuts of meat are difficult to find here, but they also have to adapt to the local Austrian palate. The service was great, and the people were friendly there. I see that they work very hard to run their business and to make sure that their customers are satisfied. I certainly was.
