This place was pretty busy when we got there. Not with a lot of foot traffic, but a lot of take away orders. So if you're looking to have sine Vietnamese food delivered to you this is probably your place, The food items we ordered were both good and came out at a decent speed. The server was helpful and took care of us well.

18a: "Bun." Rice noodles with pork and spring rolls. Shredded veggies and light broth below. Peanuts and fried onions on top.

The best Vietnamese food in Vienna. Period! After coming here for several months, I can say the everything on the menu is delicious. My favorite dish is 18a: a heaping bowl layered with shredded carrot and cabbage, rice noodles, pork strips, and crispy fried spring rolls. On top are peanuts and fried onions and there is a light and sweet sauce hiding at the bottom of the bowl. Once mixed together, this is like heaven in your mouth. Most people do take out here and they only have 2 tables inside and another two outside during warm months. From 19:00 to 20:00, the kitchen is swamped with take out orders, so table service slows down for a bit. Get there by 19:00 to easily get a table. But if you get there when they're busy, trust me, the food is well worth the wait. All of the food is made to order and the husband-wife team running the place are impressively efficient considering the small kitchen and busy dinner rush. Happy Vietnam consistently makes me a Happy Andy.

The grilled meat with rice noodles was good. The spring roll was below expectation, it's more like chinese version of spring roll. the pho chicken was a diasappointment.

After looking at 10+ stores on Yelp and staring at all Pho's pictures. I decided to try Pho at Happy Vietnam. The reason why I so picky is because I'm from Vietnam so I looked at the broth before choosing anything :). It's a small store and the owner make foods fresh so you will have to wait a little bit, but it definitely worth it. The Pho broth is very very good. Usually restaurants will make the broth sweet like southern vietnam, but Pho is from the north of vietnam and the broth shouldn't taste sweet. Their broth was very good. Other than that, the meat was tender and slice thin. I also asked for the spicy chilli and lemon, real Pho always have both! The owners were very friendly and nice. The restaurants are clean If I have a chance to visit Vienna again, I will for sure stop by Happy Vietnam. P/S: pho in the US can't even compared :). Very traditional and very close to Pho in Vietnam :O)

    Fried & normal spring rolls

We ordered our pho with a little spicy, which is a cherry on top. We got so 'addictive' to the soup afterall. Beef was very soft, cooked just right. Spring rolls were definitely fine. The couple is friendly and chatty. Reasonable price, highly recommended!!

Still coming back to this place 4 years later for 18a: bun with pork and spring rolls.

Still coming here 4 years later for the same bun with pork and spring rolls (18a). Still the best Vietnamese food I've ever had...

Pho with tender beef and a lot of fresh veggies and herbs. I added the sriracha for a little heat and color.

This place was recommended me by a friend. After few visits I could say that it is one of the best places in Vienna where you could eat a bowle of authentic Vietnamese Pho. Beef Pho: the soup was clear without oily film yet soo rich in flavor that I even drank all the broth after finished eat noodles & co. It was a good amount of meat in my beef Pho, and a lot of fresh herbs, also the thinly sliced red onion added the freshness to the soup and noodle. I also recommend to add a little sriracha. Not only it looks nice but also enhance the the taste in another way. If you like spicy. Also the fried crispy spring rolls (wrapped in rice papers I think, filled with meat&veggies, comes in 4 pcs) and the regular Vietnamese spring rolls (comes in 3 pcs and a delicious sauce with crushed peanuts on it) also taste very yummy! The place is very small and only two tables and a bar with some stuhls, but very homey and relaxed. The price range is normal consider it as a quick meal place. A lot people go there for takeouts. Just a warning to the people who don't like cilantro or taste of some other exotic herbs.

This is so good , I recommend this place. The restaurant is a bit small but the food was great. I tried many pho places in America and this definitely is one of the best ive tried

Even though this restaurant's quite small, but surprisingly the food was really tasty. I ordered delicious chicken and rice for only 5.5 euro :) If you're looking for cheap but tasty food, happy vietnamese is the answer :)

We were craving Asian food after a few day of traveling in Austria, and learned that there's a few streets (really only a few restaurant) in this area similar to a "Chinatown". Though there's no Chinatown per se, we found Saigon!! And we could t be happier. A hearty hot bowl of pho soup, excellent spring rolls, and authentic Vietnamese iced coffee. We were happy as a clam and our tummies satisfied. Also got our Asian food / noodles / hot soup fix!!! The owner is super friendly and helpful, along with other workers. Highly recommended!

We ordered several dishes to share: the steamed dumplings with chicken and shrimp, bok choy with mushrooms, caramel pork, and Bún Riêu. Everything was decent and nicely presented--the dumplings were tasty, the bok choy dish with mushroom was good, the caramel pork was flavorful and the Bún Riêu tasted close to what I am used to. For drinks, we tried their red bean in coconut milk (their signature item) and the lemongrass iced tea. Both were refreshing. The decor is modern, trendy, and inviting, making it a pleasant spot to relax before an evening out. What surprised us, though, was the service. Once our food arrived, no one checked in on us at all--not to ask how things were, not to offer refills, nothing. It stood out because every other restaurant we've visited in Austria has had genuinely warm and attentive service. I suppose there's a first time for everything. Overall, Saigon delivered solid food and a stylish atmosphere, but the lack of follow‑up from the staff left the experience feeling incomplete.

It's filled today with Viennese - lots of German discussions. The close seating makes for loud conversation. The mid day special came with a mixed salad in a fried open wrap (bowl) - tasty but a bit Heavy on oil. The mid day menu is in German - take a minute understand it. The main menu is German and english. The kitchen is small and backed up quickly as the tables filled for lunch. In true Austrian style each dish is served correctly - plating was good and the spice/freshness showed. It just takes a while. Sitting by the door is uncomfortable. Spring rolls - elegant and complex flavor. The detail on the dish is impressive (for an American used to Simple Pho.) Sparkling water of course and they have Singha! Egg rolls where not wrapped tightly and absorbed a lot of oil. While crisp it was oily and suffered in eating (oil every where) taste was good but different for well made layered egg rolls. Sauces where good and appeared made in shop. Setting the cut edge down helped drain oil. These are served hot and stayed that way for several minutes, the inside can burn your mouth so be careful. I would get these again - the flavor is worth it The shrimp garlic noodle dish arrived. Shrimp Panco and garlic sauce cooked perfectly. The noodles where poor, the sauce off - disappointing. The Shrimp however made you want a dinner portion, flavorful - I would order it again - maybe on cabbage and skip the noodles. A table treat for desert are small fruit dishes. The pineapple was great - it was small.. but a great add to the meal.

The duck salad appetizer is married beautifully with mint, red onion and chili infused spices that really give it a kick. I noted hints of lemongrass and it was so good and the duck prepared so perfectly with both crispy and soft meat, we ordered a second dish of it to share at our table. The Pho soups are delicious too. We were less enthralled with our red coconut curry with vegetables, but only because we anticipated medium heat but it was just sweet and very mild. Our restaurants in the states add heat, so we would just recommend if you do as we'll, to ask--they can certainly do it. The service was very good, a sweet Viet girl made sure to check on us, but not where it was distracting. candlelit tables were and the black and white themed dining room were really stunning. I highly recommend this to local Viennese as well as tourists--it was reasonable yet delightful. Even their wines by the glass did not disappoint!

Unfortunately, I went during the lunch rush hour, so it was crowded there and I was unable to get a seat, much less any lunch. So, as I was walking around the area, not wanting to go away empty-handed, I happened to have found this place on the Burggasse, on my way back to the U2/U3 Volkstheater metro station. I went in, and walked back out because I saw there were no tables available except one. However, I was really hungry so I decided to go back in a couple of minutes later, just to try the food and see how it was. There are only 4 tables inside. Though I have never been to Vietnam before, this reminded me of that episode of Bizarre Foods or No Reservations during their episodes, when they showed these various restaurants in Hanoi that doubled as a kitchen and even a residence, with just a couple of small tables and a some plastic chairs. Now, of course, this being in a city, they didn't have that, though I think the place was meant to be more of a take out joint than a sit-down restaurant, though it is possible to eat there if you are lucky enough to get a table, which I was. The first thing I had were some fried spring rolls, filled with meat, and served with lettuce wraps, Thai basil (or mint leaves), and nuoc mam (Vietnamese fish sauce for dipping). They were quite OK. A little bit smaller than I expected, but still delicious. I then had some of their pho (Vietnamese noodle soup). It came piping hot, the way I like it and how soup should be, with a side garnish of bean sprouts, mint leaves or Thai basil, lemon, and hot chili peppers. I think it was a little bit different pho than what I'm used to, because if I'm not mistaken, this was a Northern Vietnam/Hanoi-style preparation. The noodles were a little bit wider, and the broth was a little bit more clearer than what I've had at Vietnamese pho places in the US (of which many are of South Vietnam origin). Regardless, the soup was pretty good, though it would have been nice to have had a variety of meats found in pho, such as beef tendon, brisket, meatballs, and even tripe. The soup here only offered sliced beef or meatballs. But I also understand that they prepare it this way, not only because I imagine that certain cuts of meat are difficult to find here, but they also have to adapt to the local Austrian palate. The service was great, and the people were friendly there. I see that they work very hard to run their business and to make sure that their customers are satisfied. I certainly was.
