Knew it was owned by a Vietnamese lady, but the name before was very Caucasian and the menu more like baked goods, or so it seemed, when I passed by. Then, named changed to Little Hoi-An, menu more open and expansive featuring a better explanation of what was on offer, and now we're hooked on their Wonton Noodle Soup with BBQ Pork. The broth is moreish, the serving size plentiful, and at $12.95 a real bargain without having to travel to places like West End where Vietnamese food flourishes. I would put this small, unassuming place up there with the likes of Trang, Ramen Danbo, Sushi Edo and others for its Pho. Simply delicious, noodle texture is excellent, and whatever is happening behind us in the kitchen is lip-smacking magic. It's amazing what a simple bit of marketing can do, a name change, a bit of interior decorating, and putting forward more into the open a menu that was probably there all along, but went unnoticed because it was obscured by refrigerated counters that looked like they pushed pastries more than Vietnamese food perfection. It's our new go-to in The Gap.
