When I'm on the road, I always look for interesting restaurants. I avoid chain restaurants - my taste runs to pacific rim. I've found excellent Vietnamese restaurants in many towns you would NEVER expect to have one. So when I saw that there was a highly rated Pho place in Salisbury Maryland, I had to try it. The restaurant is brightly lit, and the over worked server was friendly. I ordered Shrimp Summer rolls and Pho with shrimp and pork. The inside of the summer rolls were very good, as was the peanut sauce. But they were stuffed in rice paper that was too chewy. It was actually hard to eat. Oh well, on to the Pho. So who would have guessed the mediocre summer rolls were the hit of dinner? The broth tasted as if the cook did not understand the complexity of good pho. There were 3 pieces of decent shrimp, but the pork was inedible. Every piece had gristle either on the outer edges, or in the middle. Judging my the ratings of other diners, maybe I hit it on a bad night? Or is it more likely my fellow reviewers have never had good Pho. I really enjoy Vietnamese food. This place was a blessing when it first opened as Megan's Noodles a few years ago. They have really done a good decor job on the place since then and have also maintained a great quality of food. Today I had my "go to" pho with beef eye round and flank!! Absolutely awesome. This specific incident happened approximately 2.5 years ago: we were a group of 6, all of us ordered food, drinks, etc. 3 of us got our food while the other 3 waited. We decided not ask the waiter about the rest of the food as we saw him busy talking to friends. About 45 minutes since we ordered our food, we decided that was it and we were going to leave. The waiter (who helps run the restaurant) comes over and we explained that we didn't receive our food. He actually admits to NOT putting our food order in, due to him forgetting, thus nothing was being prepared. We then left. Granted, I haven't been back since but I will say this was not an isolated incident. Service was incredibly slow before, and there were times that certain dishes didn't come out for whatever reason. I love this restaurant and would give it five stars if it weren't for the service. The food is amazing; I am systematically going through their menu and have yet to order something that is poorly prepared or not fresh. I can't believe this restaurant is surviving in Salisbury, but I am very very grateful. My personal favorites are the Pho (any kind, it's all delicious), wonton soup, and chicken lettuce wraps. Like many others, I had to detract one star for service. I went a few times to eat at the restaurant and had the older woman as my server - she is as bad as everyone says. The younger man is great, but he clearly tries to run herd on her as well as care for his own tables and can get overworked. I've simply started getting everything to-go and that keeps me very happy. I strongly recommend this restaurant to everyone. If you've got the time and are a patient person, dine in and enjoy the attractive setting. Great food and great service, although I've only had carryout. I would've given 5 stars, but I have ordered chicken and sometimes it's white meat (which I prefer) and other times it is thigh meat. I've also been told they were out of siracha (gasp!) How does THAT happen? Their summer rolls would be perfecto if they added spring onion and basil, as I normally see in traditional summer rolls. A bit pricey, but your paying for better quality food. This place is doing everything they can when it comes to progressing as a business. They have remodeled, changed the dining area/ seating, atmosphere, and have been trying to improve the quality of their service (which still could use some work). The food has not changed and that is what keeps me coming back. I would come here more often if I was not a broke college student. My girlfriend and I tried this place mainly for its pad Thai. We heard good reviews in general about this place and figured we would try. The place was completely empty, with maybe two other customers and one take out order. The furnishings where run down and the service was lackluster. With a huge menu we decided to get an order of basil chicken and chicken pad Thai. The chicken pad Thai was over cooked and very flavorless. While the basil chicken was very good with lots of sauce and flavor. However the price to quality here just was not worthwhile. For an $11 dollar plate the Thai was disappointing and the basil was worth it to try. However I don't see us trying this place again unless it's a lunch special. read more

I'm from Washington State and have been looking for great pho, Thai food, and Asian cuisine in general that is more like the quality of food I had back home! In Washington, pho is pretty big, culturally, and here at Viet Taste, I was pleasantly satisfied with their cuisine!!!! Our waiter was very friendly and very helpful, going through our menu page by page and telling is what each item was and how it tasted and was cooked and how it might compare to Asian cuisine back In Washington. The restaurant was very low-key and laid-back which I enjoyed very much because that's the kind of atmosphere I enjoy. My mother, son, and I went around 3pm and were the only ones dining in (there were two pick-up orders) until around 4-5 when two other small families came in to dine. Our waiter was a little slow and I'm not sure what else he may have had going on since there weren't many people there but he was as I said, very friendly and very helpful. My hubby loves Pho (I seriously think he has a problem ) so we have to stop at a Vietnamese place on every trip. This is the first time we tried this place out. I usually just get garden rolls or a chicken skewer. This menu looked promising however. I tried the Singapore noodle combo. It was weird at first but it grew on me and I couldn't get enough of it! I wasn't crazy about the beef in it but I loved the chicken and the shrimp. Hubby and son loved the Pho. My youngest got the golden wings and loved those. I come here for the Vietnamese dish called "Pho". The beef broth, noodles and beef in it is always good. I even tried Tripe and Tendon for the first time, in the Pho. I discovered that I love the Tendon. It is a unique texture but it tastes heavenly to me. I even tried Quail for the first time, as an appetizer, here. So this place has some unique items not found anywhere else in Salisbury. For drinks, do try the Thai Iced Tea (sweet and creamy, a hint of orange-cream flavor) and the various flavors of Bubble Tea with the tapioca balls at the bottom of the glass you suck up with a wide straw. I tried the Durian (fruit from Southern Asia purported to have an offensive odor, but taste delicious) Bubble Tea and it was surprisingly delicious and smelled nice, maybe a faint Pina Colada-type flavor. I'm officially off their bandwagon. The last couple times I have been there, the service has been awful. Order was wrong, and they couldn't even execute something as simple as giving me a couple sides of plum sauce (which they charged me for). The woman behind the counter acted like it was a chore and was eating, and really didn't take the time to engage me. I also got very sick the last visit as well (hello food poisoning). Wow - this is the best Pho place I've found in Maryland, including Baltimore. Their Super pho has all the meats you expect - soft tendon, tripe, beef meatballs, rare round eye -- and their spring rolls were pretty tasty. Not to mention, the restaurant is clean -- when you first enter, there are tons of fruit plants and blooming flowers that greet you. In the restaurant there is well kept fish, and I did't even see dust around the windows. Maybe I'm extremely lucky but I've never had a bad experience or bad food here. Everyone has been helpful and I love the pho. When I ask for extra ingredients (usually tendon) I get very generous portions. I travel a pretty fair distance to get their food. I've been to this place for countless times since I live in Salisbury. It's a great place to have friends coming for lunch or dinner. The food is great and there are a lot of varieties on the menu to choose from. Pho is the best, and there are other Vietnamese style noodle soups that I can switch back and forth. Highly recommend their hot clay pot dish: there is a special flavor in the source/ broth/ seasoning, that it is very pleasant. I don't know what exactly they have used, but a taste I've not had it before in any other Asian food. Maybe it's something more being used in the southern Asian countries. Great food, generous portions. We had spring rolls to start. I had the clay pot of rice with seafood. Tasty and nice quantity of seafood. My friend had curry that was excellent. I put some of her sauce on my rice & seafood and it was DE-LISH! Unfortunately, the service needs help. We didn't feel welcome and the older woman serving has an unfriendly attitude. A smile would go a long way and when a customer thanks you, it is appropriate to respond with "you're welcome" or at least an acknowledgment. The younger man seemed happy to have customers, but I don't think the older lady wants anyone in the restaurant. The menu was extensive, though and we enjoyed the food. We come to Salisbury often and we'll probably go back for thr food quality, but I do hope they do something to make the service is more friendly and welcoming. read more

This would be 5 out of 5, but the summer rolls are just ok (loosely rolled with just lettuce, shrimp, and noodles--no herbs or sprouts) and the place could use a good scrub down. That being said, the pho is absolutely fantastic. Broth is super rich and savory with the complex flavors and seasonings that traditional pho is known for., Veggies are always fresh, and meat is usually well portioned. seafood hot pot is a good choice. they have a very large menu, authentic Vietnamese place. also they offer korean beef ribs with kimchi, not sure why that single korean item, but it looks might good.. The restaurant is quite clean and has a nice environment, lots of seating including some larger round tables for groups.
