I've been here before and was looking forward to some wonton soup and salad rolls with shrimp for take out. I enjoyed the salad rolls, even if I found the sauce to be a bit sweet for me. Where I had concern was the wonton soup. I ate the veggies, but did not enjoy the taste of the wontons. I want to be clear that I didn't get sick, but they tasted 'off' to me, so I didn't complete my meal. It was likely the spices as I didn't have any digestive concern, but it was disappointing as I've eaten there before and had returned. It's just not my favourite spot. read more

Ok back in Moncton and had lunch here. This is not the traditional Vietnamese that I'm used to. Limited choices during lunch and is more Chinese food than Vietnamese. Idk. Just not a fan. read more

This restaurant deserves every star. I didn't know there was this hidden gem in Moncton of all places. I had the pleasure of visiting the restaurant one Saturday evening with my family while we were in town. We were also on a mission to find a restaurant to cater for our group event the weekend afterwards. Clean and tastefully decorated interior. Super friendly staff. Menu consists of a mix of Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai items, such as pho, vermicelli bowls, and curry dishes. I got the chicken vermicelli with imperial roll, my husband ordered Pad Thai, and we got Basil chicken with rice for our kiddos. We finished all of it. Needless to say we placed our catering orders with them. For catering, we ordered Vien Dong rice, Curry chicken, Pad Thai, Basil chicken, and a gluten-free Beef & vegetables. They delivered everything on time, and the owner was there to make sure we were happy. And oh yes we were. The Vien Dong rice was presented with real crab legs and jumbo prawns and other seafood and chicken. The texture of the rice was between regular medium grain and sticky rice. Very tasty. Their Pad Thai was one of the best I've tasted. Just the right balance of salty and sourness. The Thai Curry chicken was smooth with coconut cream and a hint of sweetness. Our group of 40+ people devoured the food before I had a chance to take pictures. Some even commented that they thought it was homemade because the dishes weren't greasy. With that satisfying dinner it concluded our lovely event for the day. I'm happy to say we shall be back for more. read more

Small portions, bland soup broth , confusing menu. I've yet to have decent Vietnamese for in the maritimes. The size of the soup bowl was half the size I'm use to. The amount of beef in my pho, was minimal. I asked the waitress for the largest size and that's what I got. The noodles were over cooked and the broth was bland. read more

Service was friendly, food was awful. The imperial roll was passable. But the noodles in the wonton noodle soup were obviously instant packaged: they were still in a brick at the bottom of the bowl. And the shrimp was clearly freezer burned. Won't be going back. read more

I was visiting from MTL and was feeling ill so wanted to order Pho. I went on to ask if they had Thai curry (soup). I think there was a misunderstanding, and was delivered a Thai beef curry dish. It was still really good, and enjoyed this along with the imperial roll (just a tad greasy). read more

I might be compensating for the rash of bad NB restaurants I've been to lately but the half dozen times I've been to Vien Dong have always resulted in getting great food quickly. The service is generally fast and friendly. The food has always been great and flavorful. In particular I tend to get the combination A, which consists of a bowl of delicious pho ga (chicken) and a plate with a chicken skewer, a beef skewer, rice, a small salad and a fried spring roll. We started with Imperial rolls. They were fine. For mains, we shared the Basil beef and the Red Curry chicken and sticky rice. The beef and chicken were lovely. The veg that were part of each dish were fresh. The sticky rice was not sticky as much as it was just pasty steamed rice. We plan to return to try their Vietnamese selections. The service was pleasant and courteous. The washrooms were older but clean. There is street parking. We parked in the municipal parking structure nearby for just $2.50. Total including tax was $38.00. read more

We were very disappointed by the food at this restaurant. We were craving Thai food - especially the Tom Yum soup that we love. What we got was a weird sweet mixture in a watery broth. No spice, no fish sauce and strangely there was pineapple and celery. It was actually gross. read more
