    Potato salad (side)
    Matt B.

Very creative, plant-based deli meats and other such creations, served in generously portioned sandwiches. Having been to Minneapolis' Herbivorous Butcher and Berkeley's The Butcher's Son, I had some idea of what to expect. It was hard to pick what to order. I eventually went with the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich ($13) and a side of the potato salad ($4). The potato salad came in a pretty generous portion for the price. It was lathered in vegan mayo, with quite a citric lemony character, and a nice crunch from the celery and bell pepper. Solid stuff, though I'd say a tad too citric. The sandwich came out soon after, coming with vegan "beef" (I guess?), a very mayo-like "provolone" cheese, mayo, and fried onions and peppers that help elevate this. Wasn't a huge fan of the cheese on here, it being a bit too creamy and mayo-like rather than cheese-like. But the meat texture was good. Nice large sandwich, quite tasty, and filling. And the two guys working there were super nice and hospitable. I would definitely come back to try their other sandwiches. Highly recommended.

I can't say enough about this place. I wanted Reuben's for thanksgiving so they were kind enough to sell me a fixings package to make at home. My vegan and non vegan guests LOVED IT! They couldn't tell a difference with corned beef. I'm definitely coming back to see if they have "beef" and melty cheese because I want to recreate the BBC from rax. Thank you for helping me celebrate a murder and cruelty free thanksgiving Shout out to Ryan for putting up with my neurotic requests. You are a hero!!

Very happy with our visit to this fully vegan deli! The store layout is so cute and has reasonably priced cold cuts and cheeses to buy to go. The sandwiches are made to order and are good portion sizes to have you leaving full. The frank and beans side tasted like my mom made them. Such a nostalgic homemade flavor. I would order again. The turkey pesto melt was our favorite sandwich as the pesto had great flavor. I substituted the provolone cheese for pepperjack and it was delicious. The sourdough bread was toasted to perfection and made it feel well worth it to go out to eat instead of making a sandwich at home. The blocks and slices of cheese looked outstanding and work great to serve on a cheese platter for a family get together.

Wow. If you don't eat meat this is a must and if you do eat meat this is still one to add to your list. The sandwiches were so good and I will definitely be back. It was filling, a cute and clean space and lots of to go options. The man there I believe was the owner was very nice and accommodating. This is a must visit.

The potato salad tasted like the salad I used to eat growing up! I've been looking for some good vegan potato salad for so long and I finally found it. I liked the hot ham and cheese, I thought it would be gooey from the sounds of it, but I guess they meant spicy, which it was not too me because I have a high tolerance. I love the ingredients and it was good. The mac and cheese has white cheese and was just ok. I put the cheese steak on a hoagie bun the next day and liked it like that. I had a easy online checkout and my food was waiting with easy access by the door when I picked it up. The little interaction I had with the staff was good. I liked that they have deli meat to buy in a case, I wish they had cheese too.

    So good!!

The cutest hole in the wall restaurant. Got food to go and it was delicious. Had the ribs the next day. I will DEFINITELY be back. I want to try everything!

I wish so badly that I could've given this place 5 stars. I've been eager to try this for months, and finally went for lunch yesterday. As per the staffs recommendations, we ordered the bbq pulled pork and the Philly cheesesteak. The presentation was eh. The Philly cheese steak looked drenched in mayo, and powder. The onions were practically raw and only had onions and peppers on it. The bacon was burnt to a crisp. And I mean blackened, and it ruined the taste of the entire sandwich. The few parts I salvaged that weren't burnt, tasted great. The bbq pulled pork and a cold served sandwich with good presentation. However, the bbq pulled pork was absolutely drenched in this sweet, over powering sauce. Overall, very very disappointed. I have been vegetarian for years and love love love trying new vegan food places. I've passed by it for months, and wondered why I never saw anyone eating there. I know sadly understand. This place has an incredible amount of potential but absolutely failed to deliver.

The vegan hickory ham was amazing. Made one of the best sandwiches with it. Can't wait to try the chicken salad spread as well.

When you arrive at Schuman's and enter through the front door, you'll notice a red number dispenser to your right. Take a number to determine your place in line. Once your number is called, you'll be quickly helped. This system ensures a fair and efficient service for all customers. At Schuman's, you can be sure that your meat and side needs for any meal, big or small, will be met. The butchers are not just knowledgeable, they are also incredibly customer-centered. We bought pork chops and were asked if the thickness was to our liking; if not, they were willing to cut what we wanted. Their helpfulness and support make me feel appreciated and confident in my choices. Schumans has an extensive selection of beef and pork products, and a delightful delicatessen with a variety of cold cuts and cheeses. While Schumuns does not make its own sausage like Thurns, it does carry a wide selection of Falter's products and Tony Packo's. At Schumun's, you can find more than just meat and deli products. They also stock staples like milk, bread, eggs, a wide variety of condiments, rubs, Tony Packo's pickles, and local butter by the log. This convenience adds to the overall satisfaction of shopping at Schumun's. We miss Thurns but are thrilled with Schumun's Meat. Give them a try.

Now as this was our first time here and we was so taken back by the throw back feel of the place! It gave me small town vibes! I instantly missed home walking into this grocery store! But there is a spirits section and a local pop section and then local bakery! I think a "Gourmet Super Market" should stock some gourmet fish - Like TUNA :-) I can buy Salmon anywhere less expensively. I don't know why I keep going back - I guess it's the thrill of the chase now. Edit: I just saw Dan's response. Oh well Dan - losing stock is a cost of doing business and you can write it off - Meanwhile - I'll find somewhere else to shop. Working in the North Market, I get asked a lot about what is good to eat. Well, damn near…read moreeverything, of course- but I usually point them down to North Market Poultry & Game's Kitchen Little. "It's the best food in Columbus!" I say, feeling fairly secure in my pronouncement. See, I've never shopped at NMPG itself- the meat counter- but I have learned the not-very-well kept secret that is Kitchen Little. That unassuming little glass case holds a king's ransom of flavors. It's embarrassingly hard to pick what to eat from day to day. You can't go wrong here, but a few of my go-to staples are the meatloaf (usually chicken or turkey, always delicious, moist, and perfect), the chicken cutlet whose fried-chicken appearance hides untold wealth of flavor, or the chicken and waffles- the aforementioned chicken cutlet on a Taste of Belgium waffle, drowning in Frank's Red Hot Sauce (if you're smart about it). People like to throw around the phrase "home cooked" but if you cook food this good in your home, you need to marry me. This is food that exemplifies Columbus- unpredictable, amazing, local, and responsible. Throw in the friendly staff, the sampling, and the general atmosphere of the Market- which I love- and you have a winning combination. It's been said before by writers far more professional than I, and they were right: if Kitchen Little was its own stand-alone restaurant somewhere in town, it'd be a sensation. As it is, I kind of like the homey, back-kitchen feel. This is food that will forever change your overall opinion of prepared food counters, even if you already think highly of them. And, yeah, do yourself a favor and get some o' them good duck fat fries. You won't even need ketchup- it'd just ruin the flavor. The only complaint I can muster is that sometimes people get there before I do and buy up all the best stuff. That's definitely an acceptable loss for me- because it means Kitchen Little is getting the attention it so richly deserves!
