Be ready to be the customer and a foreman. When you talk to them, they'll promise the moon, and then do nothing, not write it down, communicate to the workers, show up, etc. Scheduling was a bit of a nightmare- and I got that there was a lot of rain this summer- but communication stunk. The end product looks nice (which solely goes to the workers), it's just the slab doesn't match what was contracted for. If you use them, expect to be there the whole time holding their hand. Most frustrating contracting experience I've had in a long time. Oh, and if you try to discuss it with the owner, he'll tell you, "well, we get good reviews" and won't try and fix anything. Their prices were competitive, they offered good advice for a water management issue I had been having, and they were very patient with me as I attempted the very difficult task of paver selection. Being a single woman, it's common to feel like you're being talked down to by contractors, but that was never the case with these guys. I felt very comfortable with Steve, the guy who comes out to quote jobs, from day one. Once the work began, I met Casey, Steve's son, and their great crew of guys. Casey was just as wonderful as Steve, and their crew of guys were friendly and hard-working. They were very efficient and finished the work at my house pretty quickly, but you would never know how quickly based on the quality of the job and the way they left my property. They left my place looking so much better than before they were here and my patio looks amazing! My only regret is not hiring them to work on the front of my house as well, as the front now pales in comparison to the back! I would not hesitate to recommend or to hire these guys again. They are honest, hard-working, knowledgeable, and overall great guys.

I wanted 2yds of triple shredded hardwood. The owner answered and then showed up and told me my mulch is free because he miscommunicated and he stated the website wasn't updated. I only asked for 2yds but I'm sure he loaded me up more. He was a really nice guy. I'll only go here from now on because of this experience. Their price blew every other quote out of the water and they offered a better shingle and a better workmanship guarantee warranty (10yr). Much to my surprise they were at my house 2 days later installing my new roof on the house. They stripped two layers of shingle, replaced several bad decking boards I had. They do 6ft of ice and water shield. Code only requires 3ft. They made sure everything on the roof was wrapped up, secure and water tight. Then they started putting down the shingles. I mean these guys work like a well oiled machine together. This company does not subcontract out the work. The employees work for J & J. My roof on house and garage looks great, they did a good job of cleaning up. I'm super happy with this company and highly recommend them. My lesson in 2023 - lean more towards the locally owned mom and pop shops and not big box names.

No matter the time, money, concern the outcome was worth it all. Bloomfield Construction (BC) employees were there to guide and inform us every step of the way. As is expected with large projects, issues arose but those issues were minimized due to the quick response and professionalism from the BC team. Not only did out home come out stronger, safer but thanks to the quality of the work, it came out much prettier. To some of the negative reviews I have read, these people need to keep in mind that BC does work with external vendors and they do address each and every concern.
