Named after Queen Victoria and one of the four major squares around Adelaide, Victoria Square is within walking distance of everything you could ever need - the post office, the central market, the free tram around Adelaide, bus stops, Rundle Mall and town hall.
Now if that wasn't enough to convince you, imagine beautiful grass, pathways and benches scattered around this square in the middle of the road, makes it a nice place to pass through while doing your shopping or spending the day in town.
At the moment, it is undergoing some serious changes and renovations though so it ain't much to look at, but when it reopens, it is sure to be spectacular. They are also hosting the Tour Down Under bike race here, a popular annual event in Adelaide's metropolitan. It is also worth seeing during the festive season with a large christmas tree and lights brightening up the city amongst the skyscrapers and buildings.
But, as pointed out by other reviewers, the tree and a couple of bikes aren't the only thing going for this square, there are also other activities throughout the year, such as the previously mentioned, giant chess games.
The square offers some beauty and serenity to the wonderful city of Adelaide. read more
