Walking north from the National War Memorial is this long wall that runs into the Torrens Parade Ground.
The Memorial Garden walk was created to encourage contemplation and reflection, and remembrance. It's rather sobering on a beautiful sunny day to walk along the 58 polished Adelaide black granite panels. Showing Australians at home, during times of war and the men and women who served their country at home and abroad.
Over 102,000 Australian servicemen and women died as the result of being involved in conflicts around the world. They represented on the granite walls with 1,020 markers etched into the panels. Each mark represents the loss of 100 sailors, soldiers, airmen and women. There are also various images engraved on the wall depicting different soldiers. On the walkway are pavers engraved with the names of the places they fought.
A beautiful memorial. read more
