Yesterday, I went to Vic's to get an inspection on my brakes. They were making a mild grinding noise. So, I went into the front office and there was nobody in there. I waited a bit, but since I was in a hurry, I couldn't wait and went outside to speak to a mechanic. I asked him about the inspection and he told me he had one car before me, and needs about an hour to do the inspection, and since I needed to go to work about an hour from then, I told him I'd bring the car in the next day. Fast forward to today, and that same mechanic was outside, so I told him I was back to have the inspection done. The lady who works in the office eventually came out to give me an estimate of the work needed, which was two front brake pads ($90) plus the labor at $130. I told her that honestly, I was going to have someone work on it for free and that I wasn't going to have them work on the car. She tells me then I have to pay $75 for the inspection. I was dumbfounded and insulted that nobody---absolutely NOBODY told me the inspection had a cost. I told her I wasn't aware or made aware of the inspection charge and if there was one, I needed to be informed of that by the mechanic. I felt stuck, like I had been completely bamboozled. So she saw my reaction and immediately began debating me about it, and she took me inside the office to show me the sign where it said they charge $75 for an inspection and was acting argumentative towards me, like I was gonna be forced to pay them $75 if I took my car away. I told her I never saw that sign and then she blamed me for not going inside the office and looking at that wall sign and when I told her I did go inside the office yesterday, but no one was there, she looked at me like I was lying. I never saw that sign because I was waiting for her to come to the office so I could discuss the work with her and still, you don't perform any work on someone's car until you let the customer know how much it costs by WORD OF MOUTH, not signs on the wall before performing any work on a vehicle. I explained to her there was nobody in the office when I came in the day before, and I did not see those pricings, but also the mechanic never informed me of the charge, but she still argued with me. I had no choice but to just pay the $220 for him to fix my brakes and that is a rip off and baiting the customer. You're not allowed to do any work on any vehicle without informing the customer first of the cost and I feel I was baited, lied to, then forced into letting them do the work based on her poor customer service skills and since I didn't want to pay $75 for him to just look at it, and then leave with no good brakes, I had them do the work. The worst part about it is the lady arguing with me about it when what they did was illegal. I hope no one falls into that trap like I did today and that businesses like that become accountable for their shady business practices. I can tell the place is pretty empty every time I've been there, though this was the first time I had work done by them, so it seems like they are using any means necessary to bait customers into getting work done there. Because they are there in Fillmore, they think they have a corner on the market, but I'll tell you this much, that lady and that shop are complete crooks. That's what you call lying and baiting the customer and that is illegal. Then after she argued with me, that lady started harassing me and acting like we're friends, trying to talk to me about my plate of food that I brought with me that I was eating and I told her not to talk to me. Absolutely disgusting and domineering lady that works there and you can see it in her eyes. Total crooks and criminal behavior. I hope you all see this review and never set foot in that place because they will try to bait you, then blame you for it. I know what they did to me today was a shady business practice and I hope they close up shop for good. read more

Was driving through the city and found out that My van had a flat tire. I couldn't locate the leak myself with water and soap so I Called Vics Tires and told them that I needed a flat repair. Celia there was kind enough to save me a space at the bay so that they can fix my tire and have me go on my way. Victor located the leak right away and mark it with a white marker. What we thought would just be a flat tire repair ended up being a 2 tire replacement. Victor and his wife were so helpful and accommodating! I stopped by about an hour before closing and I was in and out of the door within 15 minutes. Victor replaced my tires with temporary tires till they ordered the exact ones I had prior. The next day, they were able to install the new set of tires quickly and efficiently. Victor and his wife are both super welcoming and friendly, they made us feel super welcome to the neighborhood. Heading out for a 2 week trip from ojai to CO/WY in our crusty but usually reliable RV we had brake smells and smoke early on. I've been going to Vic's tires for 20 years and always had excellent, fast, expert service. Today I was at Vic's to patch a tire with a nail in it. I only waited 5 minutes for Ricky to move me onto the lift and get the repair started. I asked him a number of questions about the wear level and care of my tires. His answers were a complete education about tires, which was very helpful and educational. He did the repair which included many steps in about 15 minutes, and I was back on the road. With three great-grand-kids and my autistic brother on her hips and heels, my mom got to her car only to find a completely flat tire awaiting them. Stressful, yes, but she knew where to go. She had been to Vics before and knew the service was good and the people were honest. On a previous visit she'd shown up thinking a lot of expensive work would need to be done on her car (because a different shop had said as much) but at Vics they were honest about what NEEDED to be done and what more she could CHOOSE to do. Anyway, she headed there with her flat tire and Rick quickly took a look, examined the tire and was unable to find a leak. (Mom has been suspecting someone in the neighborhood of letting the air out.) He was friendly, he put her at ease, and he did not charge her for examining the tire. My son was heading out of town and on the 126 ran over something and destroyed his rim, I managed to get the spare and noticed Rics Tire off the 126 and since the tire was on a spare we stopped in. We were greeted by Ricky and he greeted us and professionally helped us immediately. Not only was the rim destroyed the rotor and caliper were damaged. Celia (who by the way is super friendly) checked out my tire and saw that there was a nail in it. Vic checked out all of my tires and come to find out there was another tire with a nail in it. He patched it up and put enough pressure in the tire and it was pretty quick. For not having an appointment and saw me the same day, I was impressed.. I've been to other tire places out of town and even with an appointment, I still had to wait over an hour. So having to come back wasn't a big deal to me. They were very friendly and attentive.
