I dropped off my Maid of Honor dress for my cousin's wedding about a week ago and picked it up today and in total, I paid double what the dress originally cost me I don't have time to get it fixed by someone else before the wedding because it's in eight days and it nearly looks the same as when I dropped it off She kept insisting that I should loosen the bodice, but I'm a heavy chested girl who is not wearing a bra to the wedding so that could result in catastrophe. She wasn't happy that the bodice was a bit tight and on the other end she didn't really loosen the skirt as I asked her to and didn't take in Too much above the bum so the dress still looks a little boxy on me. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement, and I am bothered that I paid $200+ for an Alteration that was subpar is even worse. She legit charged me $15 for an eyelet hook that is $3 for a pack of 10 at Michael's. I desired some alterations to some business clothing and upon meeting Morella attempted to explain my request. Morella was barely attentive, bordering on dismissive, and engaged with the charisma of a used tire. The adjustments were completed at a price that seemed steep, but I'll admit that might be my subjective reflection based on her pretentious air and her inexplicable nonchalance. Truth be told, even her employees seemed a bit timid and Stepfordesque when she swept out from behind the curtain. Solidifying my conclusion that Morella is just out of touch, I experienced the same dismissiveness when I returned to pick up my items. Obviously, I won't be returning.

THEIR "REPAIR" RUINED MY SOFA UPHOLSTERY! DON'T GO HERE!…read more The upholstery on my sofa detaches and is machine washable. I tore it while putting it back on. I asked them sew a similar fabric on the UNDERSIDE to reinforce it and keep it from ripping more. Didn't need to be perfect, I knew the tear itself could not be sewn together but patching and stitching the underside could mitigate the damage. I came to pick it up and BOTH SIDES were covered in a fabric patch that's not even a close match! I was told that there wasn't a way to reinforce it from the underside so they just did both. Even if that were true (it's not), why did no one call me FIRST and tell me the work I requested and paid for wasn't possible? This is a very basic ask of a professional tailor, it's unbelievable they got it so wrong! This patch is so much worse than the original tear. The sofa was custom made in Japan and is a one of a kind piece. Pics of the tear and what they did to it. The pics of the denim repair is an example of what I asked them to do.

I initially had a positive experience and had one garment altered by Olga. The work on that item…read morewas good. However, after going to see her for the last few alterations appointments, I was repeatedly turned away saying she couldn't do a simple hem and waist adjustments to two skirts and a pair of pants. Then during one of the last appointments she kept saying how this isn't her main job and how she is frequently out of town and I'm confused as to why she is saying this stuff to me because she has two rooms dedicated to this business in her apartment and a website and enough yelp reviews where it appears to be a dedicated business. Also, during one of the appointments she flat out asked me, "doesn't the store or designer you bought this from do alterations for free?" And for that particular designer piece...I did confirm that they do free alterations but they do not have a local storefront on the west coast and I'm not flying out to NYC just to do alterations at their flagship store. To me, that question was rude. If there was a store nearby, of course I would take advantage of a free alterations service but again, I'm not flying to NYC to alter a single item. Furthermore, I'm bringing my business to YOU. You would think a business owner would be grateful for business. When I reached out again today to set up an appointment, I was ultimately told she had decided not to accept me as a client because she was not comfortable working on expensive clothing. I appreciate the honesty and would rather someone be upfront than take on work they aren't comfortable with. However, I wish this had been communicated earlier, as it would have saved both of us time after multiple attempts to schedule additional work. If you have higher-end designer clothing, it may be worth asking in advance whether those types of garments are within their preferred scope of work. I think it's interesting though that she does wedding dresses which are significantly more expensive than the items I brought in. P.S. After I pointed out via text message that she has worked on alterations for wedding dresses, which are often significantly more expensive than the designer clothing I brought in, she replied, 'You are right, accept my apologies." 6/26/26 update - After Olga's response below I wanted to add this: Thank you for your response. However, I do want to clarify that the last item I requested included a simple hem and a slight waist adjustment on a pair of pants (they were not expensive by the way, I can show you the receipt). You allowed me to return a few times to your apartment where you do fittings with 3 separate items wasting gas, time, and effort only to turn me away each time. That request contributed to my confusion about the explanation I received. I wish this had been communicated more clearly from the beginning so I could have found another alterations specialist sooner. Again, I want to repeat all of these items are significantly below the price of a wedding dress which you seem to alter quite often based on your reviews so your response stating you don't like to alter expensive items seems....far-fetched.
