So I've been around the block a few times, and Roxanne gives the best massages I've ever had. She starts out using tuning forks and singing bowls, which, although I first thought were a bit crazy, relax my back more quickly than anything I've tried besides actual acupuncture. Feels great and sounds very peaceful, with a happy "bong bong" of ringing bell sounds around you. My back is immediately a ton easier to work on, and then she moves on to give an incredibly thorough massage using hot stones. Roxanne is incredibly intuitive and knows her anatomy very well - she quickly honed in on issues that chiropractors and physical therapists have warned me about in the past. She took time after the massage to show me some good stretches for the psoas and muscles around the ITB. For several years, I've come back every time I'm in Orcas Island get a wonderful massage!

This is the best spa in Victoria to get a pedicure . . . …read more I've been going here since it opened, but not exclusively, though I must say this is one of the top spas in Victoria for services and care, and the best in pedicures. I like the nice touches such as real candles, tea and citrus water, loaner reading glasses in the waiting area, plush memory foam pedicure massage tables that you just sink into, and high quality personal care options and toiletries in the change room. The Transformation Pedicure ($65) is the best in Victoria because they do them while you are lying down so that you can rest or even nap while your feet are being transformed. Another reason is because of the professional, attentive care from the estheticians, all trained at The Aveda Institute. Aveda-trained professionals stick to meticulous sequencing and procedures every time and you will notice it at any spa, even in their stress-relieving foot massages. For $15 add on the paraffin wax treatment to the pedicure, and you will also get a relaxing hand and arm massage while your feet take in the heat and benefits of the paraffin. Last year I enjoyed the Escape spa package for over three hours of bliss as a birthday splurge ($285 - hydrotherapy, massage, exfoliation, facial, mani and pedi). My daughter has enjoyed their massage, pedi and manicure services as well, and I've enjoyed their couples massage with my partner. Note, there are male and female estheticians, so if you have a preference you can advise when you make an appointment. The only change I can suggest currently is that the main door now has a loud piezo alarm tone when opened that I could hear all the way to the back room.

Service was great, however, I felt pushed to buy products after which was a big turn off. I was told about it on the table during facial, then again when walking to the change room, then again as I was changing the woman came back and told me more about it and they would be on the counter. I was interested at first, but after feeling really like I had no option, I was out of the sale. I don't like that. I absolutely have an option. I loved the products and the woman was kind, knowledgeable definitely, we chatted a lot during services, but I do not like feeling like I am without option to go without if I choose. It felt like I was obligated or something. I told the front desk it's more than I wanted to pay and I will pass now.

We had a wonderful time here during our girls' getaway weekend! We took the ferry from Edmonds and…read moredrove out to Port Townsend, and this experience was one of the things we were most looking forward to. The overall experience was incredibly relaxing, and the staff were warm and welcoming. It was the perfect way to unwind and enjoy some quality time together. The only downside for us was that there isn't really a dry, private area to change back into your clothes after using the pool and sauna. There are also no blow dryers available, so if you have plans afterward, I would recommend coming prepared. We had dinner reservations later that evening, so we brought our skincare and makeup to freshen up afterward and managed to tame our hair well enough to look presentable! A few small amenities, like a designated changing area and blow dryers, would make the experience even better. That said, they certainly didn't take away from how much we enjoyed our visit. Overall, we had a lovely and relaxing experience and would happily recommend it for a girls' trip or anyone looking for a peaceful little escape.

Five stars for the typical experience here, but downgraded based on one of our last experiences…read more My husband and I used to be frequent patrons, probably coming about once a month. About half the time we visited PT, it was mostly to come to Soak on the Sound. We followed all the rules, sitting quietly and relaxing, and never had a problem. About a year ago, we came again for a soak and (although we both listened carefully for it like usual) somehow did not hear the chime to indicate our session was almost over. I had just whispered to my husband that our time was probably almost up when the attendant suddenly opened the door and looked directly in at me, sitting nude on the edge of the tub, and with evident frustration announced at full volume that we were over time. We of course rushed to leave. We let her know on the way out that there might be a problem with the chime in that room, as we did not hear it, and she made a snide comment about how we must be happy with all the extra time we got and rang the chime to "prove" it was working in that room. I appreciate the dilemma here, that it's a problem when people do not exit their sessions on time, and staff need a way to intervene. However, with no way to tell time in the rooms and no second warning, customers exiting on time is totally dependent on a single, soft chime both working and being heard reliably. What if a customer is slightly hard of hearing, or the ambient noises in the room drown out the chime, and the customers can't hear it? Is the appropriate "punishment" to look directly in at them while they are (potentially) naked and treat them with frustration? We were sincerely doing our best to hear it, as regular customers who want to be respectful of the space and have no interest in trying to game the system, and for whatever reason we didn't hear it that time. We would have appreciated being given the benefit of the doubt, or at least averted eyes if the attendant had no other option but to enter the room. We came back once in the year or so since this happened, but honestly we were so worried that we'd miss the chime again that it was hard to enjoy ourselves. It felt like the only guaranteed ways to avoid this are to either check our phones periodically (which is is antithetical to the unplugged experience we want to have) or to set our own alarm (which would violate the noise rules for the space).

Not a good experience…read more I don't write a lot of reviews. I tend to write them when an experience is either really amazing and I want people to know, or it's really not good and I don't want people to have that experience. For context, I've had a lot of facials in my life-- too many to count. I'm new to Victoria and can't get to my longtime facialist on the mainland for at least a few months, so I decided to try to find someone good in Victoria. I thought to try Emerald Day Spa because of all the good reviews and awards. I specifically booked an extraction facial. When I was asked by Parisa, the facialist, if I had any concerns or things I wanted her to know, I said I was there for extractions, most importantly. I asked if she could turn on the light so I could show her specifically what I wanted her to pay attention to. She said no, that she would look at my face when I was on the treatment table. This struck me as odd, because I can't look at my own face when I'm on the table, and how can I be sure that she's seeing what I need her to see?? Next, after I'd changed, she took forever to come back in. I started calling out, "Hello! I'm ready!" but she did not return for at least five minutes. It was bizarre and stressful. Then she asked if I was comfortable. The towel I was lying on was really old and rough, and I asked if she could remove it. But instead of just taking it off, she left again for another five minutes! Once again, I called out, "Hello! Hello!!" She finally came back in and I said, "Wow, that was a long time just to take away a towel." Then, she didn't remove the towel and instead put down a sheet. This was okay, but to lose ten minutes of my hour and fifteen minutes while I was lying there, cold, was weird and unpleasant, to say the least. When she got to the extractions, I again said that I wanted to show her what really needed extracting, but since I had no mirror and I was now lying down, I couldn't be sure that I was pointing to the right things. She told me she saw what I was talking about: white heads on my nose, an enlarged pore that gets really clogged, and most importantly, a very large white head by my ear that needed to be punctured, drained, and extracted. I repeatedly pointed it out to her. She started the extractions with a small machine, and then said she was missing something and left again! This time leaving the door open!! OMG. Any relaxation I'd achieved was torpedoed as I heard the people in the hall walking by, talking, and I worried that someone else would come in. Back to the facial... Like I said, I've had countless facials, and I know what extractions feel like. She was NOT doing extractions. She continued moving the little machine around my face. I'm sure it was doing something, but it was not getting out whiteheads, blackheads, etc. Then she got to the area with the very large blemish. She futzed around a bit with the machine, and then said, "It's all cleaned out." Well, let me tell you, the big blemish is still there, as are the white heads on my nose and the clogged pore. It's like she did NO EXTRACTIONS AT ALL. No joke. Now I need to find another facialist who can actually do the extractions, or make the trek to the mainland. And I'm out $183 for something that did not do what it said it would. Perhaps there are other treatments that are good. I'm guessing that with all the rave reviews, other folks have had good experiences. But let me tell you, an extraction facial with Parisa is not why this place is winning awards.

The building also connects to a yoga/fitness/dance studio. Wow! Had I planned my visit better one could spend entire spa day here and do all the self care things. My hubby and I recently enjoyed a few hours here, as we took sauna time between the back to back massage appointments. The front desk (Amanda, who was very sweet) said they even would offer to bring in lunch if you'd like to order from blackbird next door and you can sit in your robe, hehe (provided with slippers for your service use). What a great idea for a day. You could take yoga or Zumba then have spa services all in one stop. Sauna is on special for January 2023. I feel it is a bit steep cost to reserve it normally, however, it is very luxurious to have it as your own locked in time for a private or couple session, that is true, and it was so detoxing and utterly relaxing. Our massages with Ashley were of the more relaxing style and she found those pressure points in the back and neck that had us totally rejuvenated. There are so many services offered here that sound wonderful, we look forward to return and try them out when we are ready to splurge on ourselves again. However, prices are competitive and reasonable. I'm glad we have doSpa here in Port Angeles!
