I have known Amber socially for years and knew that she knew what she was talking about when it came to holistic nutrition and making natural choices; so when I started having digestion and intestinal issues she was the first person I contacted for help. I am a full time Clinical Psychology Grad student and work part time as a nanny in SF so my time is filled to the max and my schedule is all over the place. After a gluttonous summer of weddings, cramming for school and traveling my digestion was a mess. I felt crummy, tired, guilty and gross about my body, what I was eating and how I looked in my jeans. Because my digestion had reached a point of physical pain I knew in my heart that I needed to commit to making changes for my health.I consulted with Amber who listened to me describe my routine, food choices and habits. She really listened and HEARD me, and only then opened her mouth and started teaching me about food, shopping for food and how it was working in my body. There was no lecture about calories, fats and exercise-only a educated relay of information based on her studies and experiences that worked for MY BODY. She talked to me about my routines and why some of the things I was doing such as my go-to bowl of cereal in the morning may not be the best choice for my body. She suggested protein first thing would be a better choice, talked to me about soil, buying local and at farmers markets, deleting as many processed foods with massive amounts of ingredients. She suggested a 2-week trial of re-booting my food intake and making new choices for foods and vitamins/minerals. By day 2 I was amazed how my body was physically responding. I was regular again and abdominal pain free. My morning grass fed organic Whey protein shake, berries and eggs changed my entire day! This bagel and cream cheese craving, snack monster, chocoholic was slowing but surely oiling up my insides with coconut oil, avocado, fish and fish oil. By the end of the week I was excited to visit the Clement street farmers market to talk to farmers and buy local. It was at breakfast the next day having an orgasmic experience with my farm fresh eggs and heirloom tomato that I knew this was a turning point in my adult life. While on break in class that night, I chose a banana instead of a bag of chips or candy bar...I chose and craved a freakin' banana! Yes...I have to think about what to eat, put some thought into it, but this is my body and my health, why shouldn't I be making these choices? I am looking forward to continuing to work with Amber as I move forward in life and my body changes. Her energy, light and intelligence is going to make her very successful and I am extatic to have her on my team cheerleading me on! read more
