Shayne colored my hair and it truly changed it for the best. I was a reformed bleach blonde/weird 2000's striped highlights then no color for 10 years kinda gal and I was worried to dip my toes back in that pool of hair color, but Shayne has the magic. The color was exactly what I asked for and grew out looking like it had come out of my head like that. *Chef's kiss* Recently Maggie cut my boyfriend's hair - I had to sneak and pay for it then make the appointment to dissuade him from his normal $12 haircut (no shade, it was ok) - he freaking loves it. This man came home all smiles and has been caught staring at his own reflection and remarking on how perfect his hair is. Smh. He woke up the other day and said "do you see how perfect my hair looks when I just rolled out of bed". I created a monster. Everyone here is awesome. You can either book an appointment online or over the phone, I made mine over the phone. They take your number and send you a TEXT of your stylist name and the time of your appointment, super convenient. I went in right on time and Niki sat me in her chair within minutes. They offer you drinks (soda and water i think) while you wait. I wanted a balayage and it didn't take her long to put my color in. I was a bit concerned because it only took her 10-15 minutes but I didn't say anything. Waited for about 40 minutes, she toned and washed my hair and gave it a quick blunt hair cut. The hair cut didn't take long either so i was more concerned but didn't say anything (I'm used to stylists taking 45 minutes to put in color+ 30-35 mins to cut hair). Also, note that I had to take off my glasses so I was basically blind the whole time. Then she gave me a blow out and asked if I wanted loose curls. Of course I wanted some curls! I finally put on my glasses and OMG, my hair looked AMAZING. I'm glad I let her do her job and not question her abilities. :) Niki gave me the best color and hair cut ever. I was really happy with the results and still am. :) Note: I wanted a little more color on my bangs and called her the day after. She squeezed me in the next day and was super helpful!!

I've never had my hair professionally colored, nor have I been to an American based salon before. Groupon: My groupon consisted of color and cut. When I entered the store, the girl who was going to be working on my hair informed me that if I wanted a balayage that it would cost $30 extra, and for the length of my hair, another $20 (on Groupon they constantly advertise balayage, but there is no mention of the extra costs there). My friend who bought the same groupon said she was not charged extra, which is why I decided to give it a try, but low and behold. You know what, that's fine, I've already bought the groupon and was already sitting down. Experience: I asked for a trim of my long hair and a balayage. Trim: I asked for a basic trim, or about 1 inch off. I assume, easy enough. I'm not asking for something really bizarre? She literally only cuts the TOP portion of my hair and straight cut the rest. It's extremely choppy, jagged, and straight up looks like I asked my 10 year old cousin to do it for me. I didn't even realize it was this bad until I saw it today, which is why I decided to write a review. You might ask, why didn't I notice this in the salon or before? You sit facing AWAY from any mirrors at the salon, which is strange to begin with. I hated the haircut from the beginning and thought it was really bad, but I didn't know how bad it was until my mom pointed it out recently. See below for pictures. Balayage: not great, not terrible. I barely see the new color, but it's very similar to what I previously had. During the time the girl was dying my hair, she asked the owner many questions as to how to correctly balayage, what's the correct technique, how to put foil on, etc. she did not seem like she completely knew what she was doing and this should've been my sign. Sadly, my hair was curled at the end so even when looking in the mirror, it was hard to tell there was any issues. This entire experience makes me wary to try any new places again. Especially anything off of groupon.

What's amazing about Jo is that everything he does is done with such care intention. When he works with your hair, he creates something that suits both your face, your style, and your spirit. It's something that I haven't been able to find in the history of ever, and I'm so glad I found it with him. My Heart Salon Studio is peaceful yet charming, and it's very clean in this COVID age. It's also located in a quiet little neighborhood that's right by the main square. While you're there, you can also pick up trinkets made by local artisans. Run (don't walk) to My Heart Salon Studio, but make sure to book an appointment with him first! You'll be happy you did.
