As for the actual space, the attractions were spread about - think mini pop-ups leading up towards a bigger instalment that kind of combines all the previous scattered pop-ups. It seemed like something very grandiose when advertised, but fell a little bit short of expectations despite trying to come in with low expectations. I'm not entirely sure if it was worth the 2 hour drive to get here, but at least I can say I showed up and got to see what Stratford had to offer for their annual yearly festivities during the winter season. We were on our way home in heavy rush hour traffic when the owner called and instructed the driver to turn around and go back to the airport because someone had just called looking for a ride. It added an extra 30 minutes to our trip home. The owner was incredibly rude about it saying we got what we paid for so we shouldn't complain.

How nice is that?! There are 24 themed rooms and we were Stan Lee room ... all things Stan Lee! The room was a good size as was the bathroom. There was a coffee maker but alas, no mini fridge (I always travel with water). It would have been nice to have "normal" TV channels ... instead they were themed like the That Girl channel, Beverly Hillbillies channel, Biggest Loser channel, etc. Parking, WIFI and a continental breakfast were complementary.

Close to downtown yet still in a quiet, sleepy residential area of its own. It's a longer walk from the train station (our walk wasn't helped by a -36C blizzard!), but still within reasonable walking distance (I'd say 25 mins max). Making a reservation was easy. Koleen & Ron responded immediately and confirmed our booking. At $110 a night, The Jester Room was a steal. There's no tv, and the room isn't giant, but the comfort couldn't be beaten. The bed was large and luxurious, the bathroom was perfectly appointed and there was plenty of closet and mirror space. There was even a complementary bottle of Merlot as well as chocolates and wine waiting for us in the room! (I assume this was a Valentine's special). Just outside the room there was a mini bar and a myriad of bath and shower items to pick from. The wifi was fast and consistent and there were some really fun and interesting books and magazines left in the room (Famous Quotes about Canada, for example). The breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurt, sausage eggs benedict and tea/coffee was absolutely delicious. Our hosts made stimulating and thoroughly enjoyable company and gave us invaluable information about the Shakespeare festival on in the summer. We are making it a point to return to Stratford in May and will definitely be staying here for our next visit.

Good selections on the TV. CONS: Beds were not super comfy. No blow dryer (although the owner had one I could use). The tub was a bit gross. Was given a coupon for the buffet breakfast (which I thought was a bonus since I wouldn't mind paying the same amount for the room only). The breakfast itself was 'meh' (no fresh fruit in sight), but at least the coffee was good! If I ever spend another night in Stratford (unlikely) - I'd definitely come back here.

The room lighting was 6 very bright ceiling pot lights. There was a lamp, but it didn't work. So it was ALL or nothing when it came to room light. The train tracks are very close by. There was a stack of old and sad used mattresses at the back of the building. (No one needs to see that.) HOWEVER, the price was right and it was almost all that I needed. Thanks Motel.
