Stole my Yamaha keyboard. It depends on your team of movers that day. I used them two years ago, they were great and fast. Called them again, yes, fast, but one guy kept asking if I really needed the keyboard / piano and some of my other items.... After giving them a big tip, and a bottle of vodka, and being rushed and not really allowed on the truck to look through the empty boxes... I find that my keyboard never made it to my new home. Used these guys to move three weeks ago and can't say enough good things about them. I picked them based on their reviews on Yelp and their rating with the Better Business Bureau. Michael hooked us up with three guys for $69/hour. They finished the move (1-bedroom apartment) in exactly three hours (and I have a LOT of stuff). They were 15 min. late but called to let us know beforehand that they were running late, which is all anyone can do in this town of sucky traffic, didn't break anything and were incredibly fast and professional. They also provided plenty of wardrobe boxes to use and wrapped all furniture in plastic wrap so it would not get dirty or scratched in the move. In particular, I have a massive IKEA bookcase that I felt certain would have to be disassembled for transport, due to the widely-known fragility of Swedish fiberboard furniture, but decided to let the movers evaluate first. They saved it for last, but they lifted that thing, taped blankets to the bottom, wrapped the entire thing in saran wrap and moved it with no issue. I looked at other movers, both with more reviews and flashy websites, but at the end of the day these guys came through with a guaranteed move time (none of this four-hour window bullshit) and did the job quickly and proficiently. I went to VIA after a very negative experience with NorthStar moving. Michael, one of the partners of VIA, two movers come to help me move my apartment. When I questioned only having two guys (as NorthStar said I would have to hire three), he volunteered to come visit my place and see the requirements in person. As promised, that Friday night, he showed up at my door and confirmed that I would only need two people. To note, this was all before I made an appointment - he did this on his free time and without any commitment from me. After setting the time for Sunday, Yuri and Alex showed up at my door on schedule. They parked their massive van in my alley and immediately began moving my furniture. To say they were fast would be an understatement as I am pretty sure they sprinted the entire time they were in between my apartment and truck. My refrigerator door needed to be removed to squeeze it out from my kitchen and Yuri had the exact tools to complete the job in under 10 minutes - all while Alex was still running stuff from my door to truck. Once packed up, I drove my own car down to my storage unit (aka grandma's house) while Yuri's truck followed. It is here where I feel their care and consideration really shone. As their massive truck intimidated fellow drivers on the 101, numerous times Yuri helped me merge over during the Sunday afternoon traffic. Now if assisting you to merge on the 101 doesn't make you friends, I don't know what will! When we arrived at my Grandma's house, everything proceeded as smoothly as before. Yuri and Alex were friendly and respected her house as they moved my own things in to her side room. Again they were obscenely quick and even with the freeway traffic, we managed to complete my job under the minimum 3 hour mark. To be honest I do not remember what my total payment was (base 3 hour rate + I think I tipped them $25 each), but every dollar was worth it. I spoke with two people at NorthStar (Cesar and Lynn) and both treated me as just another appointment. Michael, Yuri and Alex went above and beyond anything I expected in movers. I have recommended them to my friends and family and am looking forward to seeing them again at the end of this month when we move my girlfriend out of her apartment. Book them. Stop searching on Yelp and call them now. You won't be disappointed. read more

VIA Moving is awesome! We called to book them a few days before our move date because a previously booked mover had canceled on us last minute (the jerks!). Luckily, VIA was able to fit us into their Saturday afternoon slot. They were also the most affordable movers ($55/hr for 2 guys, 3 hour minimum) we found after calling a dozen companies. So they were available last minute and cheap! We were told they'd be arriving between 2 and 4pm, and sure enough, Alex and Yuri arrived at 3pm on the nose. They surveyed the furniture and boxes and started to work immediately. They wrapped, loaded, and secured our entire 750 sq ft. loft in 1.5 hours! Then we went to Culver City to unload into our new place and they were finished with our entire move in exactly 3 hours. Alex and Yuri did a seriously awesome job and made the move the easiest we've every experienced. Highly recommended! read more

Loved my experience with VIA Moving! Alex and Yuri are awesome. They packed up my apartment and unpacked in my new place in 5 hours total. I was a bit worried about a few paintings and some fragile boxes but Yuri assured me they would be fine and sure enough nothing was damaged at All. These guys are real pros and do not stop working. I was impressed with their work ethic. I'll never move myself again knowing that VIA Moving is there and can do the job much quicker and for a competitive rate. Seriously, if you are fed up moving your stuff by yourself or with friends just call VIA and you will be much happier! read more

They were a little late this time because they had trouble with their truck on their way to my place, but the price reflected that lost time in the end, so it was no skin off my back. I can't recommend VIA Moving more highly... their service is just great. Two guys worked their butts off hour after hour after hour. And not a dish cracked or an Ikea bookshelf scratched. It was as if they actually *cared* about our stuff, they handled it so gently. Plus they were polite and pleasant. And all this for about half what you would pay somewhere else--around $62/hour including the truck and mileage. Wow!! read more

First time using them: No complaints. Very quick and efficient move (from the seventh floor of an apartment to the sixth), and very reasonable price. Second time using them: Also solid, reasonably priced, but some problems this time. They packed the truck great! But then, their truck broke down. Of course, this was not their fault, but this caused them to arrive nine hours later than they had promised, at around 1:00 AM - not the ideal time to unload. They apologized for this (and in fairness, they were very fast at unpacking with double the man-power due to the late hour), but still charged me the full quoted price. Later, they said they would reimburse me $50 for the hassle. It wasn't much, but I appreciated the token gesture. But they never followed through. Now, after three months of my calling and emailing them 11 times, I'm giving up on the $50, and I'm writing this review instead. If they ever send me the $50 they promised, I'll consider upgrading this review from two stars to three, but until then, my review stands. The bottom line: If everything goes smoothly, these guys are a pleasure to work with, but if there are ever any problems, don't expect them to make great efforts to compensate you for the trouble. read more

two problems: As Rebekah said they ask you for a tip which sort of pisses you off after you spent 400 bucks moving 4 miles. They basically said "ok its going to be 400 plus a tip for each of us" kind of shocks you how blatant it is.... 2nd problem....one of the movers picked up my wallet for no apparent reason. i was coming up the stairs and he noticed me so he ends up dropping it in the same place he picked it up from....but still. wtf they worked hard but they dont speak english (russian i think) and the two above problems pissed me off. read more

I have used Michael and his guys for 3 moves now and have recommended them to several other friends. They are really efficient and come prepared to help you in case you need some additional special packing. I injured my shoulder and didn't have the heart to ask friends to move me while I watched like some kind of supervisor. Based on the experiences of other Yelpers, I decided to give VIA a shot. I had a pretty easy move---elevator building to a first story unit in the valley. But for somebody with one working arm, it would have been impossible. VIA had a 3 hour minimum (60 per hour) and the job took a little over an hour . But I figured, "hey, that's why they have minimums". It would have been nice if they had cut a bit off the bill, but it wasn't expected. All in all, it was fine. Serge and (the other guy) were quick and efficient. Until it was time to pay. "Oh, yeah. The suggested tip is forty dollars a guy, so that will be eighty dollars." he said. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? EIGHTY DOLLARS FOR AN HOUR? I tipped fifteen each and he looked at me like I had just spit in his face. Mind you, the half dozen tipping/moving websites I looked at earlier today said this was above average for a half-day move. VIA was fine for moving, but pretty shady with the tipping. read more

I've been meaning to write this review for a while. I feel bad waiting so long because these guys are amazing. VIA Moving is: Cheap, professional, fast, careful. What else do you need in a moving company? I've used them twice and recommended them to 3 different friends, who all had great experiences as well. I knew I had found a good moving company the first time I used them because the guys were literally running up and down the stairs with boxes. I don't have a family or anything, so I don't have a crazy amount of stuff, but they finished my move in less than 3 hours each time. I can't recommend these guys enough! read more

Michael and his colleague are great! They were very quick to load and unload, and even helped pack things that were loose around my room. I tried to help them pick up something and they were very adamant about letting them do all the work. They disassembled and assembled all my furniture. I booked them at the last minute to unload a few moving pods. They showed up on time and moved all my stuff for about half the price I was expecting. The guy I spoke to had a thick Russian (?) accent so I had some difficulty understanding him on the phone, but they were both very professional and pleasant in person. read more

Wow! These guys make moving an art form. My elderly and disabled mother and I watched in awe as Michael and his partner wrap, pad and hoist items in such a short amount of time you would have to see it to believe it. They are so quiet, buff and handsome its almost suspect, like poorly casted actors in a bad film. But the reality is they are just passionate about what they do and do it with integrity. The price was significantly less than the other quotes I received. I read previous the reviews regarding the tipping and whether its common practice or not, I did it and still saved money by using them as opposed to another brand. Love these guys! read more

I recently used VIA moving to move from Pasadena to Downtown. They arrived exactly on time with a truck and all of the supplies that they needed, including wardrobe boxes, plastic wrap, and hand trucks. I was extremely impressed with the speed and efficiency with which both men worked. No time was wasted, and both men obviously knew exactly what they were doing. Had it been me and my friends, it would have taken far longer to navigate my furniture out of the apartment and securely onto a truck. Additionally, their hourly rate was *very* competitve. I just can't say enough good things about this moving company! I have used them twice for moves, and the only reason I didn't use them more is that I couldn't find their business card (which I had filed away somewhere). This last move, I decided I was going to find them no matter what, and lucky for me, I had scanned their receipt into my accounting software 5 years ago...and figured out how to pull up their number. Mikael and Andrew and the crew are unbelievably efficient and professional. They quickly and safely packed up the van and then equally as quickly and efficiently unloaded at the destination. Not only that, but they distributed my stuff exactly where I wanted it to go without me even telling them anything! Before my move Michael came and gave me a quote of $350 for a one bedroom. The day of the move they were supposed to show at 1pm but were 3 hours late. Michael went and helped the 2 movers get caught back up and then came to help them with my unit. He said he wouldn't charge me for the extra person. When they arrived I asked how much and Michael said he'd take $100 off, so I'm thinking that's cool, $250. They got everything on the truck 1.5 hours later, so by now it was 5:30 in rush hour, Friday traffic. It took me an TWO HOURS to get to my new place due to a concert at the Hollywood Bowl that slowed traffic to a crawl. By the time I got there and they got done, it was 9pm. I'm expecting a total bill of $250 but instead of dealing with Michael, he sends in one of his guys to deal with me (problem #1) who ups the bill to $300 "because it was so late" (problem #2) which wasn't my fault that THEY were late and got me stuck in that God-awful traffic. I get $300 and he says to me, just like this, "Where's my tip?!" (problem #3) I was very taken back by this rudeness and ended up giving him the $50 that frankly, I needed to eat that week. So in the end, Michael got his $350 in an unprofessional manner. Since when do people expect/demand tips on top of their work like this? I wish I could charge someone for my services a certain amount and then DEMAND a tip! The bill should be the bill! read more

Did not show up for 30 minutes. When I called to find out where they were, the response was there had been a mistake, and they'd be there in another hour and a half. I confirmed the price, and it was $60/hr with a 3-hour minimum, much higher than I thought I had been quoted originally. The guy was very hard to understand, so it's possible that's what he originally said and I didn't hear correctly. I canceled the pick up. read more

Absolutely satisfactory!! These guys are great movers! They are fast, cheap and has a great handle on things. What can you ask for more? The hourly rate for my moved was $60 minimum 3 hours, which includes mileages, 2 guys and a truck. They were very prepare with dollies, blankets, wardrobe boxes, and plastic wraps. Everything were included except the plastic wrapping which they wrapped my entire Queen Size mattress to protect it. I was happy to paid the additional $10 for the plastic wrapping. They were very polite. Though I had trouble understanding their accents. read more

We used this company to move last week and they were great. I needed to have them pack everything for us and move everything. The owner came to look at our place prior to the move so that he could give an accurate estimate. He faxed us a copy of the estimated price and even put a maximum amount on the quote. I had not thought about asking for a maximum amount but this ended up being great because they went over the estimated time. They were very courteous and professional. They were very careful about all of the packing and nothing was broken or scratched. They worked non-stop for about seven hours, except during the lunch we bought. They did not complain about anything. The charge was about $70 per hour for 3 men + cost of boxes and packing supplies (except wardrobe boxes). I would highly recommend this company. read more

Michael had already worked with me on a move four times in the last year, so I had no hesitation calling him for this latest job. This time the job involved wrapping furniture in packing quilts, loading it and some heavy boxes into a 14 foot UHaul truck, driving the truck from Los Angeles to Phoenix, and unloading the furniture and boxes into my new house. The person I hired to help Michael unload never showed up or answered my calls, so Michael, to my extreme astonishment, unloaded the whole truck himself, including two sofas and a dining table, a feat requiring both great strength and great skill. The whole time he worked he was pleasant and energetic, and did not even complain when my partner and I were late meeting him at my house at the end of our drive from LA. He is a consummate professional and the people who work for him are knowledgable and energetic, too. Everything arrived in the same shape it had been before the move - no dents or scratches. read more

no move is ever perfect but these folks were great - twice they moved me with no glitches. they are flexible and nice. the rate was about $63 / hour for two movers, a truck and some supplies, including local mileage. fancy supplies are extra. one thing didn't make it to our new place (it was a clear glass tabletop - easy to miss) and they delivered it promptly. read more
