Just celebrated my brother n laws SURPRISE 40th birthday this past Saturday. Walked into the hall and the AC was broken. Not sure how long the knew about this and was never notified of this. When we are in the beginning of summer and knowing how hot El Cajon gets. It was 85 degrees in the hall the entire day until the end of the party in the evening. They did not provide fans until we had gone out to buy fans ourselves. The coordinator Justin was smoking cigarettes in and out of the hall and guests were getting it in their face as we needed the doors open. We made the most of our party but we will NEVER book a party here again & I highly do NOT recommend. read more

How can this place or Hall of Veterans in El Cajon City be so dirty and smelly. My grandmother was looking for a Hall to rent and when we visit the location is just like an old storage place,dirty,smelly and doesn't look like the pictures they share on yelp. I wish the manager or the owner would clean it up and make it more presentable. If you go it smells like cigars,dirty and stuff everywhere. When my uncle try to reserve the place before we saw it the ladies who answer the calls, in 2 different occasions were rude and whatever,they said "we're bussy just come and see it..." I know it may be affordable but the place needs a good cleaning from outside and inside. Will be getting in touch with the city or someone regarding this matter. read more

This past Chief selectee season, our guys got the opportunity to use the VFW to do our car washes. What can I say other than the VFW always helps Navy Chiefs with our fundraisers by providing a place to wash cars. This location was great as we got tons of business and patrons had the opportunity to go inside and eat at the VFW while they waited for their cars to be done. Personally, I'm not sure if I would drive out of my way to come here, because the VFW in Kearny Mesa is closer to where I live. I've never hung out at a VFW other than during the season. If I'm in the area again, I might have to stop by. Thanks for all your support VFW! read more

Our out of place hero came out to El Cajon to party it up with veterans of foreign wars for the Paddy Bash 2010 concert headlined by Dannicus Live featuring The Dateless Losers and The G String Daddies. Man, can those veterans throw down. They have a large and dingy main hall that is a bit poor on acoustics, but a full bar attached to the back of it as well. Awkward conversations were had with some of the veterans here. Veteran: Hey, let me buy you boys a drink. Our hero: It's okay, I'm still working on my beer. Veteran: What are you having? Our hero: Stella. I don't think I can keep up with you though. Veteran: Why's that?... Our hero: Well, I'm sure you have a lot more drinking experience than I do. Veteran: So just cuz I'm a veteran, you think I'm a drunk. Our hero: Ummm... (awkward silence). NO. You just look like the kinda guy that could drink me so far under the table I'd wake up in China the next morning. Veteran: Haha! Have you been to China before? Our hero: Uhhh... NO. Veteran: That's ok, I'm just fuckin' with ya. Such interactions with our nation's finest war heroes were probably spurred by the super strong drinks served at the bar here. Our hero's friend ordered a Monster and vodka to keep him awake that he hoped would be 80% Monster energy drink and 20% vodka, but ended up being the other way around. PROS: - They sell dinner here every night and you don't need to be a veteran to stop in for a bite (or a drink). - The drinks are hella strong. CONS: - The mess hall is a bit dated and old. - The drinks may be too hella strong. read more

Every once in awhile the whole family goes to the post to show our support to our veterans (Usually because my grandma says we're going so we're going... lol) To be honest... I really thought the VFW would be the least desirable place to go out for dinner, considering I'm 23 and the average age of the crowd had to be in their 60's. It actually turned out to be pretty cool. On Monday nights they serve (huge)cheeseburgers w/ fries for only 5 bucks... and if for some reason 1 patty isn't enough, you can make it a Mike & Ike which is a double cheeseburger that barely fits in your mouth for a dollar more I think. If you're a steak person then definitely check it out on Thursday nights. For the same price they serve either New York or Sirloin steaks w/ corn and a baked potato. In my opinion, the best part of coming here for dinner is the alcohol. The drinks are something crazy cheap like $3 a mixed drink... Albert W. wasn't exaggerating either when he said the drinks are strong. You definitely get your moneys worth at the bar. (if for some weird reason your against strong drinks you should probably make sure to mention it to the bartender lol... because my Jack and Coke is literally 80-90% Jack. They have a dart station, pool table, and a Juke Box that has pretty much any song your looking for... the only catch is all 3 cost a couple quarters. Overall for the price your paying I really do believe it is as good as it gets ! lol... Especially if you go with the intentions of getting hammered. read more

We rented the hall for a party for over 50 people. This place has a nice open space for easily 100 people, a stage, and friendly staff. The restrooms- well the women's restroom, I didn't check out the men's- was straight out of 1960. I do to think anything has been changed since expect for the rolls of TP! I've been at other VFW location and what I like about this one is that the bar and hall were separate. You didn't have to have your private event public with the old guys at the bar included. However, there is a window to the bar where you can easily order drinks and keep the party rolling. I also like that there is plenty of parking at this location. In all, a good place to rent for a cheap price. read more

Excellent place for breakfast on Sunday and lunch everyday. Full bar -- Ideal for their bloody mary.

This is an amazing place with such great people. My husband and I just moved here from out of state and were so welcomed by everyone! I absolutely love this place and can't wait to go back! read more

Been here once which is weird because I live next door however I did feel very welcomed. My friend and I where by far the youngest people in there but him being prior army and myself being active duty navy it was great hearing and telling stories. Drinks are priced to sell super cheap and generous drinks. read more
