This past Chief selectee season, our guys got the opportunity to use the VFW to do our car washes. What can I say other than the VFW always helps Navy Chiefs with our fundraisers by providing a place to wash cars. This location was great as we got tons of business and patrons had the opportunity to go inside and eat at the VFW while they waited for their cars to be done. Personally, I'm not sure if I would drive out of my way to come here, because the VFW in Kearny Mesa is closer to where I live. I've never hung out at a VFW other than during the season. If I'm in the area again, I might have to stop by. Thanks for all your support VFW!

It was a nice spot for simple parties and the bartender was great. He was very friendly.

Excellent place for breakfast on Sunday and lunch everyday. Full bar -- Ideal for their bloody mary.

It's a good date spot if you can snag seat on the window, looking out at the ocean. Sometimes I time it for sunset. I haven't been here in awhile, but it looks like they had an interior designer give it a makeover, and it turned out super good. Very happy that they chose comfy chairs. I'm in my 40s, so it's appreciated as I get old. It was a Sunday and they had just sat two large parties, so they said it would be a 45min wait. Luckily we got 4 seats at the bar. Our bartender was super friendly and attentive, even though she was busy. There's a decent beer list and full bar, so everyone was happy. My go-to is the woco moco. I remember it being larger and needing to split it with a friend, which wasn't the case this time. Order your egg sunny side and fried rice. My brother got the chilicilas, half green, half red with carnitas. He loved it. My step dad is traditional and got the standard breakfast. The hash browns are the patties, like at Trader Joe's. He cleaned his plate. I use to always order wings. Not sure if they are still on the menu, but if you like wings, order them. Salt and pepper style.

The first time I had fish and chips and a Guinness. The food was excellent service top-notch. Memorial Day we went in feeling a little rowdy with emotions surging. We sat outback because we were a little rowdy we didn't want to bother anybody inside. Another table of a bunch of rowdy people next to us so we felt pretty comfortable out there. I was raised on Cottage pie and Shepherds pie! This day, I had shepherds pie one of my favorite meals and it did not disappoint. It reminded me of home growing up. Shepherds pie was so good it took me back home in my mind. The difference between the pies if you're Irish, Shepherds pie is traditionally with lamb. From the East Coast and lastly, the Bay Area, San Francisco. I spent a lot of time at Irish Pubs. I worked on Market Street. The salads were great this day. I had one complaint that was the "Irish coffee" I can't call it Irish coffee. A cup of coffee with some sort of Irish cream poured in. More like a cocktail. Service was great. Johnny Foleys is a great pub in SF but there are so many. When back home. I'll hit my familiar pubs. I looked for Soda Bread on their menu. They have brown bread but I prefer soda bread.

The corned beef was tasty and tender. Scalloped potatoes were creamy and cheesy which I loved. Buffalo wings were juicy and nicely sauced, Highly recommend for a brunch in Escondido.
