We went early saturday morning hoping to beat the rush and the summer heat. Upon arrival we were…read morethe first ones there woohoo then it went downhill. We walked to the patch and it was picked over pretty good. We saw bunch of guys in the field prior to opening to the public and perhaps picked them over pretty good. We stopped by the stand and they had massive strawberries!! We managed to fill our containers (none close to that quality) after awhile but seemed like every 3-4 plants one had a good medium size strawberry, most were tiny with a few rotten bigger ones and eaten/fungus mixed in. Got home and tried a few 'good' ones and they were very watery , not very flavorful. Prices were more than expected (internet research) and for the not so good quality of berries. First time strawberry picking, it looked like decent little farm just wish the berries were better and more plentiful. The ladies were nice. Might try another berry patch next time closer to home.

We decided to swing by Lagoner Farms, and bought some Cortland apples which had been in cold storage all winter, some freshly harvested asparagus (which was SO YUMMY! -- what a difference it makes to eat local foods!) And some super-dry champagne-like hard cider. Can you say YUM?!?! Not only was it a feast for the eyes ... and belly .... but did our souls good, to get out of town and into nature. Even if the trees aren't in bloom, we suggest you go do this! Drive along Lake Ave all the way to Pultneyville and then head over to Lagoner for a beautiful and tasty stop!

In terms of value, we found everything to generally be within a reasonable price range - and I managed to find some really fun items, including strawberry mint (excited to use it in a cocktail) and an heirloom cherokee purple tomato plant. I also picked up a lovely little variegated string of hearts succulent and a couple other plants to add to my collection. Couldn't find a couple of the items I was looking for though (a friend asked me to see if I could find a Chinese money plant - and considering they're fairly common, I was surprised that Bristol's didn't have any), but one location can't have everything, ya know? Anyway, Bristol's was lovely and I'm sure I'll be back during future plant shopping adventures.

They are not the best at communication and responding but I believe they are among the best landscape craftsmen in the area. For one, the general manager fired a special needs employee who gave years of their life to the company just because they had a personal disagreement. Not because he wasn't good at his job, he seemed to be the most knowledgeable helpful worker there. Not only that but the managers live with her? How is that not inappropriate? Promoting people when they'll live with you seems like a huge major conflict of interest that will fold out poorly. Karma will come for this company, will probably go bankrupt if they continue to run their stores this way. Not only that but Julie the store manager is incredibly fake and not slick about it. I've seen her help other customers and proceed to talk smack about them when they're not so close to her. Other people have ears and eyes, hopefully people can start looking closer at this and how awfully lazy the world has come to, people should earn their jobs and be good at them.
