We have been long term customers of the Arc Vets…read more They were great when our previous cat was seriously ill, helping with the insurance forms, special food and doing everything that they could in a very difficult situation. We now know the vets by name and have a great relationship with them, which has continued on with our new cats. All the staff always appear to be really interested in all the pets and their "owners", taking care of everything from cats & dogs, to some of the more unusual animals that people keep now a days. A few years ago they expanded the surgery so that they could add more vets and consulting rooms, however their standards have remained high, the staff are always friendly and the place is always busy.

A number of years ago when we had Guinea Pigs! I was told…read moreabout a fantastic new Vet who had specialized in Exotics and She was somewhere in the Airdrie area! However try as i might I just Couldn't find this elusive Madonna! which meant for us a 90 mile round trip to Edinburgh for an Exotics vet that we trusted! when the last of Our Guinea Pigs passed away we decided that we wanted to try Rats as pets! Buying a couple of P{@H Rats we quickly found out the disadvantages of getting Factory farmed pocket Pets! Ant & Dec where the most loving Dumbo Rats you could ever hope to have! However Ants persistent cough and URI problems again lead us to find a vet a bit Closer to home! as his problems where far more urgent! than any other animal we had ... so a certain vets where recommended and we made them our new vet! by this time we had built our little family to 6 boys all of which demanded their play and cuddle time! Due to a bad experience with the newer Vet I decided to make a last ditch attempt to Find this elusive Madonna McGuire (Now Livingston) after fifty phone calls, I thought i was onto a possible clue as to where this amazing vet was hiding herself! So a trip to the main Practice and their she was in all her Purple Glory Madonna (eyes like a Hawk) Livingston! That's my Nickname for her as she miss'es Nothing! Madonna then got the 50 questions from me! I had learnt by this time to vet my vets to make sure they knew their stuff with regards to exotic's My first question to her was How much penicillin would she give a guinea pig who weighed 800 gram's and had a URI and urinary tract Infection! she gave the the now famous Madonna Look and told me that penicillin would more than likely Kill a guinea Pig and made the correct diagnoses with Baytril I then fired off a few more non trick questions and Madonna answered them faultlessly! when then had a nice chat about the exotic pets she had had over the years! I knew by the end of the chat i had found My Life long Vet. While I have focused on Madonna she has made it her mission to train any new vets in the practice up to her standard! And I am happy to say that I would not hesitate to take any Animal to Ark vet..as they all show a respect and professionalize for not only the owner but the animal that is left in their charge....

Very thankful to John Ferguson and his team for the wonderful care and help they have provided over…read morethe last year for my border collie Glen. My local vet diagnosed Glen with bilateral hip dysplasia when he was just 7 months old. We were referred to John last summer for a consultation appointment where he took X-rays and did the necessary investigations. The right hip was a candidate for salvage surgery, so it was arranged for Glen to stay over night at the practice and have his first operation the next morning. Glen recovered well after surgery and within 12 weeks he had a perfect right hip! He was coping well with having the one good hip so we let him enjoy life until we felt it was necessary to get the hip replacement done on his left side. This takes us up to April this year, when I noticed that Glen had started to show some stiffness. So along we popped to East Neuk to see John and it was agreed that it was time to perform the hip replacement. Eight weeks on and Glen has just had his checkup appointment and things are looking fantastic! Throughout this stressful and upsetting time John has been a complete hero; not just in terms of his expertise (which has obviously played the biggest part!), but also in how he has been so calm and reassuring. It really have me the confidence to stay strong whilst all this scary stuff was happening to my poor puppy. The reception staff are all wonderful and caring and always ready to listen to any worries/questions you have, even the stupid stuff. John was always there to talk to if you needed his guidance on anything. He even brought one of my appointments forward to give me peace of mind over something which was bothering me - turned out to be nothing at all, but he wanted me to be reassured so kindly squeezed us in a week early. They are all very sympathetic. It speaks volumes that Glen was desperate to get into the clinic today - he obviously has good memories of the staff there, as I literally have to drag him into our local vets!
