Very thankful to John Ferguson and his team for the wonderful care and help they have provided over…read morethe last year for my border collie Glen. My local vet diagnosed Glen with bilateral hip dysplasia when he was just 7 months old. We were referred to John last summer for a consultation appointment where he took X-rays and did the necessary investigations. The right hip was a candidate for salvage surgery, so it was arranged for Glen to stay over night at the practice and have his first operation the next morning. Glen recovered well after surgery and within 12 weeks he had a perfect right hip! He was coping well with having the one good hip so we let him enjoy life until we felt it was necessary to get the hip replacement done on his left side. This takes us up to April this year, when I noticed that Glen had started to show some stiffness. So along we popped to East Neuk to see John and it was agreed that it was time to perform the hip replacement. Eight weeks on and Glen has just had his checkup appointment and things are looking fantastic! Throughout this stressful and upsetting time John has been a complete hero; not just in terms of his expertise (which has obviously played the biggest part!), but also in how he has been so calm and reassuring. It really have me the confidence to stay strong whilst all this scary stuff was happening to my poor puppy. The reception staff are all wonderful and caring and always ready to listen to any worries/questions you have, even the stupid stuff. John was always there to talk to if you needed his guidance on anything. He even brought one of my appointments forward to give me peace of mind over something which was bothering me - turned out to be nothing at all, but he wanted me to be reassured so kindly squeezed us in a week early. They are all very sympathetic. It speaks volumes that Glen was desperate to get into the clinic today - he obviously has good memories of the staff there, as I literally have to drag him into our local vets!

yet again, terrible service and unreliable staff. Puppies in…read morefor 1st vaccination and chips. Not only did they not chip the puppies, they gave them the wrong vaccination and booked them in for 2 more and took payment upfront which i was very specific NOT to do! They did this because i sent someone in with the puppies due to work and they thought they could scam them! Terrible VETs and have been getting worse for years. i only used them as i ran out of time for vaccinations due to working lots and they were the only ones available for 3 weeks! not only did they do this, they quoted me 1 price then charged another! Ive noticed their online name is not their original business name. no surprise due to terrible reputation causing animals to get sicker or pass away premature!

Galedin was bought out, all 7 practices , a few years ago..Unfortunately, VetPartners bought Robert Young too so VetPartners owns 11 vet practices in the Borders. They all use Galedin for weekend emergency. My cat was treated appallingly at Galedin in Gattenside and the young vet at Galedin in Berwick. If other people are fed up with exorbitant prices poor treatment, from vets taken over by big conglomerates , you can complain. The Competition and Markets Authority control monopolies and want to hear of pet owners complaints. Email general.enquiries@cma.gov.uk or phone 02037386000. You can also complain to VetPartners at enquiries@vetpartners.co.uk Galedin has gotten worse. I asked to speak to the person in charge at Galedin . Instead of talking, I received an ugly letter in reply which was so childish and nasty . I have this letter and anyone can see and judge for himself. One of tge vets who I complained about , actually wrote the reply. She should have stood back and let someone else, not involved in the complaint , to investigate and reply to me. Instead of listening to people and learning, they chose to bar anyone who complains. Contact the CMA . They can stop these monopolies and let competition come back.
