There are a few different sites under the same company and the one in Stockbridge is decently one of the smaller clinics, but I had no issue booking an appointment. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but looks were certainly deceiving in this case. Upon arrival, the lovely receptionist came to help with the door whilst I struggled with the huge carrier. There is only the one vet on site and I get the sense is is not one of the busiest of clinics. Well worth checking in advance because I'm pretty sure they're not a 9-5pm clinic so your options for time might be limited. So we were seen promptly by Charlie's new vet, Victor. He was great! A lovely manner about him really gentle with Charlie. He asked appropriate questions about his health, which led to Charlie getting a flu shot since he has a regular cat sitter who spends time with other cats. I was so impressed by their professionalism and manner towards Charlie. Victor was so patient and nice despite Charlie's complete freak out and even provided me a lint roller at the end since Charlie had shed fur everywhere in the room. The cost of the checkup was £35 to which I nearly keeled over at (if we were in Australia it would NEVER be that cheap!) Overall a great experience, highly reccomended for all fur babies!

Without a doubt, the best Vets in Edinburgh for small animals!…read more Took our poorly rat there today and got a lovely vet that was surprisingly very comfortable and caring in handling and examining him, and very thorough in explaining his condition and ways to help him get better! Wish I had known about them sooner! Our little pet rat is now munching down on a juicy slice of watermelon (none the wiser that it's been sneakily dosed in his antibiotics)!

Dr. Lindsey and her wonderful staff at Happy Pets give us that same level of personalized care that I worried I might miss. If I pop in for food for our kitty with a sensitive tum, they ask how all three (my husband brought 1 cat to the party!) are getting along, they always ask after our kitty with IBS - the one that gives them the most trouble, and genuinely care for all our little wards. They are always looking for solutions and open to trying new products and approaches. The entire staff is clearly passionate about their work, the vet techs are very knowledgeable and keep up with latest information in fields like veterinary nutrition - which can be pretty rare to find. One of the best things is knowing that I can call them and get measured advice, instead of a quick 'bring her in' - more often then not, the reply is 'keep an eye on her, and call back in a day or two'. I trust them to give us the best possible and appropriate care for our little napper-hunters. I endlessly appreciate all Happy Pets has done for us over the last 10 months and highly recommend them to anyone in need of trusted care for their furry friends.

Headed here for our annual 'torture of my cat' that is, vaccination time!…read more The staff were lovely and let me open the carrier in the waiting room as it was evening and they weren't expecting anyone soon. My baby had a little roam around while we waited, which was fantastic as she gets stressed in her carrier. The actual checkup/vaccinations were painless and Dr. Lindsey was very patient with my typical over-protective, super paranoid fur-mama demeanour (yes I said fur-mama, I have come to terms with what I am). Unfortunately the checkup revealed that a tooth extraction was required so a few weeks later we returned. Everything went off without a hitch and I now have a happy cat with one less tooth. The surgery is clean and comfortable. There's plenty of bits and bobs on sale in the reception area for your fun needs (a post vet treat perhaps?) and the receptionists are efficient and lovely. They also have some reasonable opening hours that suited me as I work out of the city and am carless. Would definitely head here again!

We have been long term customers of the Arc Vets…read more They were great when our previous cat was seriously ill, helping with the insurance forms, special food and doing everything that they could in a very difficult situation. We now know the vets by name and have a great relationship with them, which has continued on with our new cats. All the staff always appear to be really interested in all the pets and their "owners", taking care of everything from cats & dogs, to some of the more unusual animals that people keep now a days. A few years ago they expanded the surgery so that they could add more vets and consulting rooms, however their standards have remained high, the staff are always friendly and the place is always busy.

However try as i might I just Couldn't find this elusive Madonna! which meant for us a 90 mile round trip to Edinburgh for an Exotics vet that we trusted! when the last of Our Guinea Pigs passed away we decided that we wanted to try Rats as pets! Buying a couple of P{@H Rats we quickly found out the disadvantages of getting Factory farmed pocket Pets! Ant & Dec where the most loving Dumbo Rats you could ever hope to have! However Ants persistent cough and URI problems again lead us to find a vet a bit Closer to home! as his problems where far more urgent! than any other animal we had ... so a certain vets where recommended and we made them our new vet! by this time we had built our little family to 6 boys all of which demanded their play and cuddle time! Due to a bad experience with the newer Vet I decided to make a last ditch attempt to Find this elusive Madonna McGuire (Now Livingston) after fifty phone calls, I thought i was onto a possible clue as to where this amazing vet was hiding herself! So a trip to the main Practice and their she was in all her Purple Glory Madonna (eyes like a Hawk) Livingston! That's my Nickname for her as she miss'es Nothing! Madonna then got the 50 questions from me! I had learnt by this time to vet my vets to make sure they knew their stuff with regards to exotic's My first question to her was How much penicillin would she give a guinea pig who weighed 800 gram's and had a URI and urinary tract Infection! she gave the the now famous Madonna Look and told me that penicillin would more than likely Kill a guinea Pig and made the correct diagnoses with Baytril I then fired off a few more non trick questions and Madonna answered them faultlessly! when then had a nice chat about the exotic pets she had had over the years! I knew by the end of the chat i had found My Life long Vet. While I have focused on Madonna she has made it her mission to train any new vets in the practice up to her standard! And I am happy to say that I would not hesitate to take any Animal to Ark vet..as they all show a respect and professionalize for not only the owner but the animal that is left in their charge....

We took our cat here for a few years, everything was okay. Wouldn't say brilliant or terrible…read moreservice, however, we eventually got frustrated as time went on we felt that the vet wasn't listening to us. Our cats health is a concern but so is his quality of life and it's a balance between the two, the vet wasn't insistent about everything needing done all the time even though it was distressing for him (especially as an older cat). Eventually we decided to go elsewhere, the Cat Clinic have been amazing and made me realise there was a lot of other things that weren't up to the same standards. After going to another vet for months we received an automated email chasing an invoice. Surprised, as we believed we were all paid up (which was confirmed on the phone) I thought it must be an admin error and just replied to say that we had in fact paid but didn't think too much of it. A few months later, after no reply, no emails or calls we get a letter from a debt collector! We paid that night as don't like to be in debt but were very upset at extra fees being applied to over the agency. My husband rang and was told the manager would call him back, he rang again to chase this up and was told the same thing again, the third time he rang they said we need to take any problems up with the debt collectors and they had nothing further to say. I would advise looking elsewhere if you are looking for a new vet. Appalled at the service!

Actually some doctors are the same. Yet this is clearly the last thing you want when you have a sick animal. West End Veterinary Partnership, based in Tollcross is an excellent vets that each and every time I''ve been in, seems to have taken the best of care of my cat. Its true that even then i still felt like the appointment were a little abrupt, but this is the norm. However the vet has always been very attentive, careful and caring. The reception staff are nice, and there is a seperate waiting area for dogs and cats. The vets also supplies some cat and dog basics, including toys and treats. All in all an impressive service and one that I'm quite happy to return to again. My cat hates the journey there but once arrived quickly feels relaxed. A sign of a good vet.

Saying I was being rude to her. I have left the practice feeling uncomfortable without answers to my questions about trip to EU with my pet. Call from director didn't resolve an issue whatsoever just end up with me leaving the practice for good as he was just as rude as receptionist. They seem to care more about up selling you unnecessary treatment as apposed to caring about your pet. I have spoken with friends and family about what have happened and they agreed and shared similar experience with staff in the practice in fact one of my friends said they left the practice not long ago for similar reasons.

If you have a car Thistle vets just opposite the Edinburgh Corn Exchange is easily accessible. Street parking is not a problem as plenty of space. There are also bus stops nearby (eg. 35 bus stop is very close). Asda is not far either :-) The vet reception is visitor friendly. Plenty of sunshine coming through the big windows and glass door. The staff at the reception is very polite and accommodating and offer plenty of time for advise and any help with paperwork to fill in, and believe me, there is plenty of paperwork, if you opt for the VIP and starter kit options. These deals were one of my main reasons to join. The starter kit is £60 per cat if you also opt for the VIP monthly option (£10 per cat). The starter kit includes 2 vaccinations (eg against influenza amongst others) that every kitten should get from the age of 8 weeks and microchipping. 10% off neutering with the VIP option plus yearly boosters and worm treatments etc. They have 2-3 treatment rooms and besides cats also treat dogs and small animals. What I also like is that the vets there seems to know what they are doing, especially with the many vaccinations my kittens already had this year, with no sounds from them at all. In the reception area they also sell pet food, accessories and toys, plus you can order from their shop online. One tip from me is that the nail scissors sold there are not the cheapest with £15. You can get cheaper ones somewhere else. The rooms appear clean and sterile enough. Another plus point is that they are open Saturday and Sundays for a few hours. Whoop! Why only 4 stars? I have not been a member for long and want to see any further pro and cons before giving a 5*.
