I took my girl in to have her spay done. I wouldn't choose anyone else to perform this surgery. Dr. Greer is the best Doctor for the operation. She walked me through everything that she was going tondo. She even presented me an additional option that I didn't even know existed. It was a little more but she did disclose the charge and I agreed to it. It would make my girl more comfortable and recovery easier. I waited in my car and she called me to pick her up. Her assistant walked through everything, they had the medication all premeasured and ready to go. It made it easier to handle post op recovery. The assistants called me several times to see how she is doing. Surprised and confirmed that I took her to the right doctor and clinic. They scheduled me at a time that Doctor Greer would be able to meet with me while looking over my sweet baby girl. She always responds to emails that I sent to the clinic. She is a compassionate doctor with expertise that I want so my girl is getting the best treatment possible. If Veternary Village was ten hours away I would drive there to make sure she is getting the best care possible. Very Unprofessional! Extremely Deceptive! The last 3 bitches I had artificially inseminated using frozen semen did not conceive. Dr Kowaleski performed one of the TCI's, Dr Ahmann performed the second TCI and Dr Zella performed the third. I went into Veterinary Village to review my records and I was denied access. After reaching out to Dr Marty Greer she agreed to reimburse me for a portion of the vet expenses I paid to Veterinary Village. She agreed to send a check which never came. Instead I received a settlement agreement from her attorney which had a confidentiality clause. Additionally, I received a letter from Dr Greer requiring that I have all of the frozen semen I have stored be transferred to another long-term facility within 30 days of her letter. I rejected the settlement agreement and demanded full payment of the money I paid to Veterinary Village. I also requested that I be allowed to keep my frozen semen stored at Veterinary Village or that Dr. Marty Greer should cover the expenses to transfer the semen. Dr Greer's Attorney Kessler sent me a email stating that she was pressing changes against me for Felony extortion! After waiting a month I have finally received my veterinary records and I have found many things undocumented and found progesterone blood samples have been mislabeled with inaccurate results. Veterinary Village is a total disaster! The laboratory equipment does not provide accurate results and the veterinarians on staff are incompetent! Dr Greer is a manipulative woman with no integrity! I am still waiting to receive my complete veterinary file. The records I received do not have any records for the semen I have stored for 6 stud dogs. I recommend that if you are a client that you requested copies of your records. I am confident that you will find many discrepancies. read more

I spent almost $3000 over 6 different visits in the span of a year trying to get my dog's ear infection taken care of. I also spent several months trying to get the same dog neutered, only to be told that they couldn't do it because of elevated liver values. After being told to take him in for a $500+ MRI, the results came back negative and their response was "well we guess his liver is fine after all". The staff is very pleasant to deal with and happy to take your money, but provide little actual value. read more

They are absolutely NOT nice to pets. They rush you. They try and jam too many appointments in one day because they only care about money not you or your pet. You are expendable to them because they are busy. They talk badly about customers in the back rooms. They are super abrasive about getting things done to your pet. They rush your pet and make your pet feel scared and uncomfortable. They don't take their time. Not to mention they over work their poor assistants there. The owner(Dr Greer) treats everyone like they are worthless and makes them feel bad about all their hard work they do for her. When I was here they made me cry. They never rewarded me for the hard work I did for them. They are no type of family working together. They are not a team. They dislike each other and it's like high school in there. I don't blame the poor assistants for being sassy sometimes because there boss never shows she has a heart. I understand how FAR patience and kindness goes with animals. There are places that are certified as friendly pet places. They take there time with each pet to ensure that they actually enjoy their visit so they can have a good time at the vet. Veterinary Village would NEVER qualify for this certification, because they do NOT teach their staff how to be kind and gentle with the animals. They refused to hear me out on how they could improve each pet's experience. They instead rush them, because they are more concerned about getting in appointments than the pet's experience. They even terrify some of the animals. This makes it harder next time the animal has to go into ANY type of veterinary clinic. If you are careful and take your time with the pet the first couple times they come, the pet will be much more relaxed and maybe even happy to be there and the appointments would eventually become quicker, and with a happier pet. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who loves their pet! read more

I can't believe this facility doesn't have any reviews! I had a great experience at Veterinary Village yesterday, and figured they deserved a glowing Yelp review. I actually traveled to the clinic from Chicago (about 2.5 hrs) to seek out a specialty procedure for one of my dogs. Dr. Marty Greer is one of the few vets (to my knowledge) who offers a wide range of sterilization techniques beyond the traditional spay and neuter, including ovary-sparing spays and vasectomies. I decided that an ovary-sparing spay was the perfect procedure for my 10 month Belgian Malinois because it offers sterilization without altering hormone production. I could not be more pleased or satisfied with my experience. I called the clinic initially to inquire about the procedure, and promptly received a call back from Dr. Greer to discuss the details. A few days later I booked my dog's surgery. The clinic graciously scheduled me for a later check in time, so I wouldn't have to leave Chicago at 5 am. The receptionists and vet techs were all friendly and welcoming. My Malinois can be leery of strangers, true to her breed, and everyone took their time and made sure she had a good experience. Dr. Greer spoke with me before surgery and took the time to answer all my questions and allay my fears. She's not only a great doctor but also great with clients and their pets as well. She also doesn't push things on you to make money - she offered me various options regarding the surgery and was honest about which ones would be important and which ones would not. The tech that checked me out was thorough in explaining post-op care and medication to me. They also called me a few hours to later make sure we made it home ok and that my dog was still doing well. Plus, on top of it all? The prices were reasonable - more reasonable than a traditional spay in Chicago, in fact, and the care my dog received was top notch. The facility is beautiful and clean too. Don't hesitate to take your pets here for any of their needs, especially reproductive work. They're awesome. read more

I came home from work to find my cat feverish and lethargic. I was aware of Veterinary Village from a years earlier visit, and was flattened to see this business is open later than most (my local vet closes hours earlier). The lady who answered the phone was very calm and professional. She put me at ease somewhat because I was very nervous. After we arrived, the calm professionalism of the staff was evident from the vet tech who took my cat's vitals to the veterinarian who talked me through the steps of bloodwork, and what medication she would administer. I was sent home with medicine for my cat, and clear instructions on how and when to give it to him. The veterinarian said she would call in a few days to find out how he was faring. And she encouraged me to phone if he got worse. All in all, a good experience, and I feel - better. read more

Dr. Greer has got to be one of (if not) the most caring veterinarians I've ever spoken to. It's after office hours, yet Dr. Greer took the time to return my phone call addressing a concern I had about a kitten we were fostering. Her devotion is evident. From the time I attempted to contact them for a more complicated neutering for my dog until the end of all of it this place was totally disorganized, gave misinformation, labeled medication incorrectly, forgot to do the microchip after it was in writing many times, told us that our dog would be first for surgery that day and they took many other dogs before him, and at times were rude. The surgeon, Dr. Greer, did a very poor job on the closing of the incision, and put in staples that were almost impossible to take out. When she was informed about our dog got infection near the closing and our regular vet had to prescribe antibiotics she never got back to us. She also never got back to us about the terrible job she did closing the incision that will leave an ugly scar on our dog. I would never in a million years go back to this place. Even our regular vet after seeing what she had done to our dog said she would never recommend this place. read more

No idea about the actual clinic... I went in for a job interview and was literally made fun of. The whopping 10 minutes I was there could have been handled in a more professional manner. A nurse or whatever she thought she was...stood right in front of me and "ordered" the receptionist to "walk". She was clearly too busy and could have used a hand. Instead this woman was barking orders at her! Clearly something that should not have happened in front of customers or other staff. I won't waste your time with the unprofessionalism when it came to the interview. A total joke. They blame the reason for not being able to keep the place staffed is their rural location... Directly off of an interstate... Between two major cities? Whatever. Maybe it has something to do with attitudes. Maybe using the room they used for euthanasia for the interview? Just saying. We became a client of Veterinary Village when we got our 2nd Portuguese Water Dog three years ago, as her breeder used them for reproductive services. They were able to diagnose an issue that another vet couldn't and accessible when our standard poodle puppy swallowed a toy at 8pm. In both cases, we couldn't be happier with service. We are always treated with kindness, the care/explanations are thorough, and they take time with questions. The follow up calls are nice, too. First off, they are far more expensive than any other vet. Second I went in for my kittens vaccinations, and waited over 30 minutes before we were moved to a room. Five minutes later a man and his dog were taken to a room across from mine, seen within another five minutes and was gone. I waited another 15 minutes before a tech came in. I asked if I had my appointment time wrong, she said no we had several emergencies today, Hmm funny because when I went there with my other cat 6 months previous with an emergency I waited almost 2 hours before we were seen and was told without an appointment it was hard to find time to see him today. After I got home I noticed they had "reminders" on my receipt for vaccinations & wellness exams for my kittens. So I called and it seems they have all the records messed up for all of my pets and blamed it on the computer. Well news flash humans input the information onto the computer! The gal on the phone told me my one cat was due for a rabies shot one year after she got one. Rabies are every three years I told her, she said yeah well you should still get her another one since she is only a year old. She is five years old not a year I told her. She was quite snotty with me. Sorry it's not my fault you can't keep the records straight. I don't ever feel like a priority when I go there even thou I have very healthy happy pets that I care for very much and take excellent care of. read more

Dr. Greer has been a wonderful vet. As a breeder, I have used her clinic for all of my reproductive veterinary needs for over 6 years and Dr. Greer has been wonderful. She is very knowledgeable and answers any questions I have had Because she is an hour away I don't use her clinic for the day to day stuff (I have a wonderful local vet), but she is the only vet I will use for any breeding I do. The week before Christmas 2014 I found out that my girl, Flame, was diagnosed with cancer by my local vet. They assisted me with meds etc. However when it became evident Friday evening (1/2/15) after my local vet clinic was closed that my girl was suffering I called Vet. Village to see if I could schedule an euthanasia for Saturday morning. Dr. Griffith asked if I wanted to come that evening. I said yes, since I didn't want Flame to suffer all night long. When my daugher and I arrived at the clinic they let me in (it was after hours) and showed me to a quiet room where I could say good-bye. They gave me some time and then both Dr. Greer and Dr. Griffith assisted my girl to being pain free. They allowed Flame's daughter, Q, to come and say good-bye to her mom and gave me as much time as I needed to say a final good-bye to my heart dog.
