We had an appointment scheduled at the Saraland location for tomorrow for our pupppys broken leg to be fixed, confirmed it at 3:30 today (even though the text says that we didn't answer) and then received the following text that was sent at 6:30 pm for an appointment tomorrow morning at 8am at a totally different vet they chose for us! I believe purposely giving us no time to make arrangements. HORRIBLE PEOPLE! Yeah, they really have the animals best interest in mind! Everything happens for a reason and I am glad they showed their true colors before laying a hand on my fur baby! DO NOT EVER BRING YOUR ANIMAL TO ANY OF THESE VETS! Hello James, this is REHM Animal Clinic. We tried calling earlier but could not reach you. Dr. Barry wanted us to reach out to you due to the circumstances that happened yesterday, we felt that it was everyone's best interest that we schedule Whiskeys consult with a partnered vet. That appointment has been scheduled for you tomorrow morning with Dr. Stevens at Theodore Vet Clinic. We are sending over Whiskeys radiograph and records from the visit yesterday. They would appreciate if you could get there between 8-9am, that way if surgery is needed, they can get it done that same day. We appreciate your understanding!

After speaking to the manager Kelly regarding the discrepancy between our original price and the overcharge, she threatened to delete our dogs vaccination records if we wanted any sort of refund. I have never been spoken too by a vet office the way Kelly spoke to me. We kindly requested a refund due to the fact that we were misinformed by her staff. It worries me that a person like this works in a space that cares for animals. In an animal hospital, many people need a warm, kind spirit to guide them through potentially difficult times. Kelly is very far from that. This was our first time coming and we certainly won't be back. I would fear leaving my animals here alone.

We went for our first visit today and we absolutely love Dr. Corte. He's an old school vet, an old…read morebiker dude that resembles Santa Claus. He seems like a great guy and he's fantastic with the animals and he doesn't try to upsale you on a bunch of additional unnecessary services. We decided to give him a try after my husband brought home a tiny puppy someone dropped off at the dump next to where he's clearing land. Jazz was also due for her annual vaccinations. We called the other vet that we'd been using and got a quote of $130-$150 per pup for shots. I asked a frugal friend where she takes her dog and she recommended Highland. Sure enough, a vet check-up and shots for both dogs was $152, so half the cost. Not to mention, Jasmine has had an on-again, off-again limp for several months. We noticed her leg got better, but she still limps from time to time. Dr Corte watched her walk down the hall and said it's her knee, likely because of the way she jumped off of something, that it will get better, then she'll probably do it again and we'll see her limp, then it will get better again. Bingo! That's exactly what's been going on. He said he could do surgery if we wanted to spend $3,600, but he wouldn't recommend it. I love that I can trust him to take care of them, and if he tells me they need something, it's not an upsale, they really need it. The former vet we used wanted to put her to sleep and do surgery and I didn't want to put her through that if it wasn't necessary. I also asked about spaying the little one in the future and they told me he won't spay until they're 6 months old. I don't believe any reputable vet would spay before 6 months, so that was another positive. Having a veterinarian I trust is a huge deal to me. We were very impressed with Dr Corte and his staff, and we will definitely be going back to Highland from here on out.

I used them for 8 years when Dr.Corte owned it. Most of the positive reviews here are from before…read moreit was taken over by a new vet. I truly feel I was scammed. She told me because of my cats recurrent infections we should do extra testing to make sure something more major wasn't wrong. I signed paperwork saying it would be over $1000. I was so upset and I wanted to know my baby was ok so I signed the papers. She told me that it looked like something was off with the X-rays - that my cats intestines were pushed over to one side but that she couldn't tell if there was a tumor or anything in her stomach and I should see someone more experienced to do more scans. When I was paying for the bill I was the one who had to say that they told me they couldn't take urine because her bladder was empty so that should come off the bill and obviously the urinalysis should come off the bill. They refunded that $132. I had to wait five days to take her to another vet, five days of worry and anxiety that guilt like I should have known she had something growing in her stomach and it could be thousands of dollars to remove this etc. When I got to the new vet they knew immediately that the X-ray was done wrong. They said my cat was listed slightly to the side so her bowels shifted because she had fecal matter in her colon. They did a new x ray, showing her intestines were fine and in the right place. There was no tumor, she needs to be on special food (which I had just gotten five days ago because of the recurrent infections) and they did the urinalysis and got the results next day and let me know the crystals were dissolving with the food and she would most likely not have this issue again. They charged me less than half the price! When I went to the office to ask to be refunded for the improper scan (less than $200 of the thousand dollars) I was told that the scan was done correctly and I would not be getting any of my money back. I said "then what was pushing her intestines over to one side?" Honestly after sitting an waiting an hour because the doctor wasn't there (despite telling me she gets in at 8 am at my last appt) I was just ready to leave. Maybe this vet is better with dogs. I don't know. But if you have a cat I would go to literally any other vet.

The vet was closed, so we called first thing the next morning. They told us to bring him in at 11am since he didn't seem bothered by it and was eating well. However, an hour later, his cheek burst and blood was splattering out everywhere. We called them and told them, and they said bring him in. Due to Covid issues, we weren't allowed inside the building. We had to wait in our cars and call, and they came out to get him. She was very polite and genuinely sincere when she spoke. She took our little guy in and about 30 minutes later, brought him back out to us and explained what had happened. He had an abscess. She shaved his fur and regretfully trimmed his whiskers in order to clean the wound and give him stitches. She praised him for how calm and gentle he was throughout it all, and I could tell she enjoyed her job. I'm so thankful to have people like her to care for our fur baby. Original review: Doesn't look like much when you first go in. I'm pretty certain the decor and wallpaper is the same as it was whenever the building was first built a very long time ago, but the staff makes up for it completely. Everyone was so welcoming and warm. Wait time was minimal - maybe 15 minutes? But in all honesty, we arrived early so technically we were taken back to an exam room right on time with our actual appointment, if that makes sense. They were very gentle with our cat, Buddy, and did a thorough exam, including his yearly vaccines. He is a pretty chill cat, and didn't give them any problems. Overall visit was great, and we will continue to use this clinic. (This visit was our first!)

She assumed my puppies age when she could have just asked how many weeks she is (and I said as much), she assumed where my puppy came from, she assumed I was lying about my puppy actually coming from a rescue. I told her the rescue said she was given a 5 way and she said "without proof, it's like the first vaccinations never happened and you're starting over again" in a tone like "so be ready for that!" After talking to that awful woman I found my adoption contract and it said the date she was given a 5 way shot. I then contacted the rescue about official proof of vaccination and then I called Westside only to find out they are not insane. I got an appt. really quickly and I'm so glad I found them. Their office was really nice compared to Village Animal on Cottage Hill. Everyone at Westside was helpful and pleasant and they are surprisingly affordable!
