Since we are both retired, we needed to know the price in advance. We were told that the basic package was $200 and that packages increased to almost $400 depending on what you wanted. We said we wanted the basic package for $200. Upon arriving with our dying family member and pet (Half-Pint), we asked to have her humanely put down and cremated only to be informed that the price of cremation was now $289 after being told just an hour before that it was $200. Not only that, they kept trying to sell us packages of up to $400 as we were grieving. We have been customers for over a year only to have them lie, deceive, and prey on us during this very emotional and painful time. I told them that this is not what we were told and we wanted the $200 basic package we were quoted. The technician said she understood and went to get the manager. While we were waiting, a second technician came in with the same options and also tried to sell us a more expensive package. The manager nonchalantly walked into the room where I had to explain everything all over again all while the dog lay there suffering. The manager said there was nothing she could do and that the girl up front had quoted the wrong price. I told her this was deceiving and we should not have to be dealing with this on top of losing our pet. She said, "What do you want me to do?" I said ,"Honor the price we were quoted." She said," I can't do that." As I left to get our vehicle, one of the girls at the front desk asked if everything was alright, I told her, in front of other customers standing there listening what was going on. The manager walked up and got in my face and said I needed to go that there were customers standing there listening and I told them they better leave if they didn't want to be lied to and deceived because you can't trust what these people tell you. Theodore Veterinary Hospital was going to charge us over $500 for euthanasia and cremation. We called our former vet in Baldwin County and they said they would take care of her. Their fee for the same procedure was under $400. They seemed more concerned with what we were going through with losing a member of our family. I was left with not being there for my family because I had to take my 89 year old mother to the doctor that morning so I could not be there for my wife or my pet and family member when she was put to sleep. This stressful situation with Theodore Veterinary Hospital caused my heart condition to act up as they were only interested in making as much money as they could off of our distress and pain of losing our family member "Half-Pint".

He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to really discuss any concerns you might have and provide you with several options, talk them out, and he his opinion. I have never gotten the feeling that he has tried to sell me something I didn't need. He's very honest and I will continue to take my animals to him until he decides to retire.

The lady told me I had to leave my dog with them to go get payment for the office visit. Did she think I was going to run away and not come back for the heart medicine that i needed to make my dog comfortable? That was frustrating and a bit insulting. I also noticed on the bill that they charged me $42 for a shot of Furosemide - a very common diuretics. A pill would have been adequate. They want me to come back Friday for chest xrays, but I'll take my business elsewhere. I expressed my frustration with the vet and the team that was there, but they ignored my feedback. I have no reason to go back.

John and Angela for a consultation. They both examined poor Otto very gently and compassionately, and gave their opinion. They suggested a trial of steroids and pain meds for his severe arthritis, which we opted to try. That hospice care gave us another month with Otto. Finally, it came time to transition Otto to doggie heaven. We knew that we wanted to say goodbye to Otto in our family home...the home he loved and enjoyed. We chose Otto's favorite room to say our farewells--my husband's study where Otto kept guard, napped, snored, dreamt, and assisted my husband with his daily work--(instead of a cold, sterile, alien environment). Both Drs John and Angela came for the procedure. They explained everything to us and allowed us to ask questions and give input. They gave us adequate time with Otto before administering the first sedative. Then they gave us more time before giving the final injection and allowed us plenty of time with Otto after he passed to doggie heaven. Dr. John came in with a covered stretcher and allowed my husband to help carry Otto out to the van--a final act of thanks and honor to a loyal friend and family member. Putting your dog to sleep is such a traumatic experience, but having the opportunity to know that your dog crossed the Rainbow Bridge in his beloved home was a blessing for our family. In my opinion, the pricing for the care and cremation was very reasonable. Our family has only high praises for Drs. John and Angela and their care of Otto and our family. Thank you.

Said she should be fine in a few days and to return if she vomits. Two days later she is in kidney and liver failure. She has now passed only 4 years old so sad. All could have been prevented if she actually observed her behavior. Don't ever take your animal here I have the record to prove it
