    Shoe stretching tool for $2.95
    Linda J.

This is not my first time at this store. I would love to tell you that this is the cleanest Thrift Store I have even been to. The lines are never too long and they have great deals. It is very clear that they understand the idea of a Thrift Store. Their prices are always very reasonable and never over priced from what I have noticed. I came back today to look for some cool things for my Grandson. I left here today with a small outside lounge chair ($2.95) for Hummingbird Watching and a pair of roller skates ($12.00) that were high quality. I also found a really nice shoe stretching mechanism for $2.95. I came here a month or so ago and found some awesome living room curtains a set of four for the sliding glass door of my home for only $19.99. Their employees are very nice and the manager is amazing. I don't remember his name but I think he may have been African. Thank you Amvets!

This chair is $140 on Amazon brand new. They're asking $150 with wear and tear.

They're asking $150 for a gaming chair in poor condition that's on Amazon for $140 brand new. T shirts used to be $1-$3. Now they're not. And the same shirts are on the racks every week. Jackets are all expensive and even more expensive if they're behind the cashier. Those don't sell either. Same jackets for months. Toy cars behind cashier too much! Also don't sell! This place is becoming a museum of junk rather than a thrifty store. All the bikes are $60+ and need tires tubes and chains and brakes etc. These are entry level bicycles that are no more than $200 brand new

This store is not bad but not great either. Parking is convenient and they have plenty of shopping carts. The prices are kind of high for the quality of the items. They staple the clothing instead of the labels so they put holes in there clothes. Not good. Kind of shady neighborhood.

Super cute boots for only $3.95 score!!

Favorite thrift store! Prices, selection and organization of the store are consistently good.

Clean store. Fair prices for gently used items. Depending on the tag color some items are on sale.

Way more parking than other big thrift stores and they always have new stuff on the shelves.

We managed to score a Patagonia shirt and a Bass Pro Shops tee for a great price! We also found the exact same Adidas powerlifting shoes that were stolen from my husband's truck years ago. They were the first thing that caught our eye when we walked in. They ended up not fitting him comfortably but it felt like a meant to be moment lol. We do wish they had a fitting room. Other than that, it's a great stop for anyone who loves thrifting. We'll definitely be back!

Recently, I drove to the La Mesa store with a car full of donations during a very heavy rainstorm. I pulled up to the marked donation drop-off door but was told I could not park there and needed to move across the lot, get a cart, and bring everything in myself. I explained that i was not parking, I am handicapped and offloading since it was pouring rain, but was still told no. I ended up leaving without donating or shopping. As a loyal supporter of FJV, I was very disappointed by the lack of understanding and outright rudness.

The quality of the items is impressive, and the store is well organized, which makes browsing enjoyable. That said, the pricing feels more like a boutique than a thrift store. While I understand that proceeds go toward a good cause, I often leave empty‑handed because the prices are just too high for what I'd expect at a thrift. For me, part of the joy of thrifting is finding something wonderful and feeling like I scored a bargain -- not like I overpaid. If you don't mind paying a lot more, you'll likely find unique and quality pieces here. But if you're hunting for that classic thrift‑store bargain, be prepared that prices may not match the typical thrifting experience.
