It may in fact be true that quality thrift is on one of the most dismal strips of road that I've encountered in Southern California, but for what lacks in charm, quality thrift makes up for in awesomeness. Contrary to the name, Quality thrift is actually more of an antique nook than a thrift shop. This place deals more in older (somewhat) bigger ticket items than a thrift store. Although there are certainly a smattering of items that one might find on a good day of thrifting, most of the items here would never end up in a thrift store. If you are looking for a gently used pair of jeans or plates you might want to keep on looking. Quality Thrift offers a selection of older items that includes but is not limited to furniture, decorations, old bar decorations, records, retro video games, collectibles, wall adornments, bric a brac, video tapes, wet suits (random), older sporting goods and more! The store is a mess. There's a huge amount of stuff shoved into the relatively small space that comprises the store. It's pretty hard to figure out where everything is, so if you are looking for something specific I'd ask Prices are decent. Some of the items I saw were a bit overpriced and some were reasonable. Given the nature of the store, I would say that it would be okay to haggle. Both employees were wonderfully helpful. I came in looking for a few specific items and although they did not have them, they were able to instantly tell me ( which is hard to do given the clutter of the store). Give Quality Thrift a gander. You'll never know what you'll find!

Over priced and most of their stuff is ripped, broken or falling apart. Unwilling to bargain

I'm a long-time supporter of Father Joe's Villages thrift store at the Washington Avenue location…read morein Hillcrest. Recently, I drove to the La Mesa store with a car full of donations during a very heavy rainstorm. I pulled up to the marked donation drop-off door but was told I could not park there and needed to move across the lot, get a cart, and bring everything in myself. I explained that i was not parking, I am handicapped and offloading since it was pouring rain, but was still told no. I ended up leaving without donating or shopping. As a loyal supporter of FJV, I was very disappointed by the lack of understanding and outright rudness.

Father Joe's Villages Thrift Store has a beautiful selection, and I have come across some real gems…read morehere. The quality of the items is impressive, and the store is well organized, which makes browsing enjoyable. That said, the pricing feels more like a boutique than a thrift store. While I understand that proceeds go toward a good cause, I often leave empty‑handed because the prices are just too high for what I'd expect at a thrift. For me, part of the joy of thrifting is finding something wonderful and feeling like I scored a bargain -- not like I overpaid. If you don't mind paying a lot more, you'll likely find unique and quality pieces here. But if you're hunting for that classic thrift‑store bargain, be prepared that prices may not match the typical thrifting experience.
