There are several good pizza options in Naples, but we decided to give Vesuvio's a try after reading some of the reviews on Yelp. We were not disappointed. We ordered takeout and had a great experience. Placing the order was easy and straightforward. She said 25 minutes, and we arrived and it was ready and the pizza was very hot. I would say the pizza is New York style, in that it is relatively thin in the center, but has a decent crust to use as a handle. Vesuvio's Special Pizza is absolutely outstanding. We ordered it with extra sausage and cheese, but probably did not need to. It was full of toppings, and the sauce is perfect. Good tomato flavor, but not overwhelming. The antipasto salad could easily serve as a meal for two people. Lots of meat, mozzarella, cheese, black, olives, and lettuce with a great Italian dressing that we ordered on the side. This will be our new pizza favorite in Naples. Excellent. read more

Worst pizza and service in Naples. Tried this place out on Saturday November 26th at around 4pm. The Ohio State game had ended and there was only one table occupied and no one at the bar except for myself and my wife. Tried engaging with the female bartender but we were basically ignored the entire meal. Never offered refills or asked how the pizza was. There was another lady behind the bar that might have been a manager. She was wearing a sweater and never even looked our way. She and the bartender were having a nice conversation though while ignoring their paying customers. The pizza is GARBAGE! Check out the photo. We ordered slightly well done pizza with half anchovies and half mushrooms. The bottom of the pizza was BURNT (photo) and the rest of the crust was undercooked! That only happens when the dough is too thick and the oven is too hot. Result is a bottom burnt pizza with still uncooked dough at the edges. The pizza was soggy, greasy and just simply disgusting. (photo) Here is an interesting fact: Pepperoni is the number one item for pizza topping in this country. This place actually CHARGES A PREMIUM FOR PEPPERONI! Yep, they list the price of each of their toppings, and pepperoni is listed as a "premium" topping and they charge more for pepperoni than they do for regular toppings. Not sure how this place gets good ratings? Looks to me like it is failing and the staff and management don't care about their product or service. We are local to Park Shore but we will not come back to this place and will definitely dissuade others from wasting their time and money on such a shoddy establishment. If you want a truly good pizza travel a few miles north to New York Pasta and Pizza. The pizza is outstanding, they don't try to rip you off and the service is much better. We ordered a 16 inch pizza half with cheese and the other with peppers, onions, mushrooms, sausage and pepperonni. The pizza was good and there was plenty of toppings. It is not to thick or thin. The crust and tomato sauce had a good homemade taste. We got a half plain cheese for my daughter. She did not like the cheese or the few herbs that were included. Best NY Pizza in Florida and beyond! We are pizza snobs. We like it a certain way and can barely ever find it. We usually ordered from New York Pizza and Pasta. One night we ordered one pizza from both places to simply test them both against each other. Vesuvio's was done first and was hot and fresh. The other was ready 45 minutes later! You could tell Tony's ingredients were fresh and good quality. When the pepperoni curl and the grease puddles - you know it's gonna be good. We ordered from him probably 20 more times in the three months we stayed. If you eat in don't expect to be waited on hand and foot. Go there to enjoy your company and an amazing pizza. He is very busy and is usually alone or with just one other person. We always ordered Togo and chatted for just a few minutes each time. Good Pizza! So glad I looked at google reviews, as these reviews on yelp were a little unfair. The place is mainly for to-go orders, so I understand how some of the reviews may feel the service is lacking but give the guy a break, his main job is to cook pizza and get them ready for to go orders. Anyways I had a great experience and a couple laughs with the owner and his compadre when I stopped in. Anyways onto the pizza, it's pretty good! I had the special minus peppers (I'd rather sub hot peppers than green) I'd say top 3 pizza joints in north Naples area and will be in my rotation of L'appetito, The Crust and now Visuvios. And funny thing is I'm a thin crust guy! But something about the taste combo here looked past my crust preference which visuvios was more fluffy than a heavy thicker crust but still thicker than the foldable new you're slices you'd think about. I've been to Vesuvios dozens of times as we have a business in Naples and visit there often. Vesuvios and Tami are always highlights of our trip! The food is always outstanding and Tami is an amazing bartender. She always remembers what we drink and makes great suggestions for food and drink specials. She even left us a message once at the hotel when they were making a special Italian wedding soup. Above and beyond! I was sad to read the negative recent review as I was there that night and the review is very inaccurate. While friendly, the party had an obviously very intoxicated member who was very loud. While they may call it "using their manners," repeatedly yelling,"Tami what are you drinking?" even though she told them multiple times she doesn't drink when working became downright annoying. She spoke politely but firmly to the party that he was "on break" from more drinks. She was in no way rude to them but as they made no effort to curb the rude behavior she was not spending time "chatting" as they seemed to want. They left to go to the outside bar. She never left or spoke to the other bartender. However, he did come into Vesuvios after a bit and talked to her. He said they had ordered about 7 drinks and left a 10 cent tip. In addition they continued to be very loud so the outside bartender stopped serving them as well. Vesuvios, Tami, Harold's place and the Gulf Coast Inn are the best! Please disregard the rude people who were passing through and basically irritated the entire restaurant!! THEY were the problem, NOT Tami. read more

Holy moly...the moon hit my eye with a monstrous pizza pie last night. The hubster had a craving for pizza and salad, so to the Yelp gods he went. We were traveling on 41, and I suggested Leoni's and the Crust, but Yelp proved us wrong. Vesuvio's? 5 stars, what?! Never heard ot it. This beautiful gem was tucked away in the Sushi Thai plaza straight in the heart of Naples Park. We started off with an antipasto salad and shared between the three of us. Splitting it into three was pretty much an entree salad for all of us. It screamed MAN SALAD! The neanderthal came out because there was such a healthy portion of meats and cheese. We then had a large special pizza which had mushrooms, peppers, sausage, banana peppers and olives. Each piece was massive, but had that beautiful thin NY style thin crust that makes this unfolder raise her white flag and fold it and own it. The crust was airy and crispy but still had that bite and chew to it. The toppings were sliced thin and cooked well enough to not have everything slide off the pizza. I also would love to go back and try their canolis when I have enough room in my stomach. This pizza place is rather small with a few tables and a couple of tables outside. I'm just glad it wasn't busy inside so we could enjoy our pizza coming right out of the oven. It definitely had a family vibe to it, and you can tell that some of the family pride rang through in the pizza. It's worth checking it out. How about today? It's Small Business Saturday. Absolutely outstanding! I was transported back to an incredible spot I used to go to in Washington Square Park. Abandon your carb counting for a worthy cause (supporting small business and experiencing pizza divinity). Great value: crust was stellar, with a beautiful char and solid, quality ingredients on gargantuan slices. Keep in mind this is a very "intimate setting" and really intended to be take out as there's only a couple of tables. Which is fine as it's perfect to pick up on the way to the beach for sunset! Owner is a great, hard-working guy who really takes seriously the product he puts out on the street and should be commended for his work ethic.
