In town for the week, and it hit us one night that pizza might fit the bill for dinner. It's really hard to judge pizza, even by photographs, so you really need to talk to friends to get an idea of what's out there. Good thing for us, a friend knew immediately where to send us: Vesuvio's. All I can say is, holy cow! What a FANTASTIC pizza. To feed the four of us, we ordered the 18" Vesuvio Special, which is topped with pepperoni, sausage, onions, green peppers and some intoxicatingly fragrant blend of herbs and spices. Coming from the northeast and having had some incredible Pizza from Philadelphia to NYC, I had completely given up hope on finding any REAL pizza in SWFL and my faith was restored when I stumbled across Vesuvio's in a tiny, non-descript plaza in North Naples. Absolutely outstanding! I was transported back to an incredible spot I used to go to in Washington Square Park. Abandon your carb counting for a worthy cause (supporting small business and experiencing pizza divinity). Great value: crust was stellar, with a beautiful char and solid, quality ingredients on gargantuan slices. Keep in mind this is a very "intimate setting" and really intended to be take out as there's only a couple of tables. Which is fine as it's perfect to pick up on the way to the beach for sunset! Owner is a great, hard-working guy who really takes seriously the product he puts out on the street and should be commended for his work ethic. Have been wanting to try this place for a while now based on the reviews. I am all for supporting small family owned businesses but this place lacks a few things. Tried the stuffed shells & chicken parm tonight. Sad to say, the garlic that was on the bread was the powder kind- rather than real garlic & it left a dusty taste in your mouth. The pasta dishes were crazy salty. After a few bites, I gave up and let my bf try to eat the rest, even for him, it was just too salty. Ok this is a must eat at place. Met the owner he is awesome! Been doing pizza for over 30 years. Ordered a couple pizzas and chatted for a bit with him. What a hard working man. This isn't your father's Vesuvio's. Vesuvio's used to be in Naples Park and moved to the current location less than a year ago. They play second and third fiddle to Harold's Place and Fujiama Steak House, and it shows. Prices are higher and going up, several starter items are gone and the quality was subpar. I had ordered the Shrimp Parm Appetizer and there was too much breading and too little shrimp. The Wings were undersized and when I called them to inform them of the poor service, leaving messages off hours is fruitless. I didn't get any call backs. When I was able to speak with the long time owner Tony Amico, he was rude, dismissive, didn't offer an apology or reason for the subpar service and no explanation at all. He said prices would be going up and told me on the phone "this conversation is over", and hung up. That was a bummer but there are other pizza places who don't take their customers for granted. read more

Vesuvio's gets five stars as I would give an A for effort. I've lived in Naples for 10 years and just last week discovered his hidden gem, located next to Sushi Thai on 103rd Ave in North Naples. A friend purchased their 28" monster pizza and posted it on her Facebook. It's size intrigued me. It's like, circus big. So I called to order this monstrosity (as another reviewer called it) and showed up 20 minutes later to witness this steamy cheese pie being boxed up. The owner asked if I wanted it cut into squares or pie slices. Rectangular pie slices is the only way to eat a pizza, IMHO. I was super hungry and walking into this mom n pop pizzeria and seeing my pizza fresh from the oven elicited happy feelings. I'm a big fan of the random bubbles that sometime appear atop the crust. This pizza had at least 6 good bubbles in the body of the pie and some on the crust handle. I was soooo happy. The owner slanted the box to get it out the door and it barely fitting my trunk. I opened the box and had to devour a piece on the spot, tailgate style, by myself in the parking lot. It hit the spot and filled me up, the entire jumbo slice ... down the hatch. I looked down and wondered what I was going to do with the remaining 15 slices. This is the biggest pizza I've ever seen, purchased and been responsible for. And it was only $33. A deal in my book. I ended up sharing the lot of it and freezing 2 slices for later. Here's the thing, the crust is thick-ish. Not Chicago style bloat-you-up crust, but just a heavy thick chewy crust that is very substantial. My recommendation is for them to thin out the crust just a bit so as not to be so, doughy. My stomach was super full the rest of the night (after eating one more monster slice, my fault. So, in summary, the biggest pizza in town. Tomatoes sauce tastes nice and plenty of cheese. Buy one 28" & have a pizza party. This size pizza can fill at least 8 adults! read more

We ordered a pepperoni/sausage pizza for carryout. I felt that it was kind of greasy. It tasted okay. The crust was thin and hand tossed. The sausage was cut like the pepperoni which I had never had before. All around it was just okay. Probably won't order again. read more

Best pizza I've ever had. You can really tell a difference between this and chain crap (not that I don't love me some Pizza Hut or Little Caesars now and then). Their sauce is great! Vesuvios pizza could be the greasiest sloppiest pizza I have eaten. I bought a medium that had to weigh 5 pounds and unfortunately 3 pounds of it was grease. The crust was limp due to the grease and the ingredients slid off of each slice when you picked the slice up. If you want a night long stomach ache, buy this terrible pizza. Ugh!!!!! read more
