Lo M.

We were craving something healthy and filling, and decided to get some Vessel Kitchen! The poke bowl was incredible and super balanced. The fish was fresh and I felt super nourished after eating it. The only downside was that it took a really long time to get our food. We were waiting for about half an hour to get our takeout.

HASH HASH (D, S, E)
Bristol L.

I had a group lunch with my team delivered from Uber Eats from this restaurant. It was actually my first time trying it and they had a lot of healthy options. I opted for the hash hash. Which comes with braised beef, sweet potatoes, and feta cheese. Personally, it was a little too sweet for me. I'd prefer more of a savory flavor. My coworker, however really enjoyed the dish. I will say the portion sizes are very big. I was able to split mine between two people.

I loved the design of this building, such care was taken with the details. It was also super clean and orderly. The drawback for me was that the menu board's font was way too small. To be said, there are some printed menus in a little container of the wall but I didn't see that at first. I ordered the Hash Hash, looking to try something new. I haven't had horseradish in awhile and it was a good reminder that less is more. I did love the braised beef and pickled onion-so delish! I would say that the service was just okay. Efficient but not very polite or welcoming.

Food Setup

Haven't been here in a while and I don't remember it being so dirty. All of the serving utensils are either half in the uncovered food or has leftover bits that are left out to get to room temperature, which is definitely how food borne pathogens are spread. Not only that, no one is using gloves so when they grab the food, they place the contaminated tongs back inside where the food is, again another vector of pathogen transmission. Might as well be using their hands. For a "health food" joint I find it to be quite ironic.

OMG Habanero Ginger. Mashers. Falafel. Kale Caesar.

One of the best restaurants I've passed through this past year. Everything is truly fantastic. If you favor spice, the ginger habanero salsa which they charge extra for is well worth it. It's $1, so it's almost free. It is freshly made with ample ginger daily. WOW! One ramekin of this spicy add-on is almost not enough. Some people might find themselves drinking it. Lolzsies. Kidding not kidding. Really remarkable and worth coming back for alone. Sorry for the fork on dish photo, I clearly got ahead of myself. Located at 9th and 9th or as I call the area, the nines. Vessel Kitchen is THE place to take your tastebuds..."to the nines"...as the old expression goes. :)

After spending days around Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming trying to find a healthy alternative to the fried foods and pizzas around, we finally came across Vessel Kitchen! The food was so delicious and was absolutely refreshing during our week of garbage dieting. Service was friendly, and the ambiance was beautiful. I loved the high ceilings, big windows, and bright interiors. The restaurant was clean and welcoming!

Was pleasantly surprised by the amazing menu. Great staff and service. The food....well.... YUM! we ordered the Uncle Rico, Utah Hash, and cucumber salad. Good portions and very tasty. Perfect location as it is a fantastic walking neighborhood.

I'm not a salad healthy eater, but this place has good healthy options, but the chicken protein, I just didn't like the taste. It had that strong chicken flavor.

I order the chicken and grains. The boys always order the Cam Rising which is now called something else. The Spicy Thai Broccoli was super yummy and spicy! I always finish off the yummy meal with their large snickerdoodle cookie.

Their wine and cocktail menu is quite expansive so there are many options for libations. We brought a bottle of our own favorite red wine to enjoy with a $25 corkage fee added. They were offered a special menu this weekend due to the holiday so we tried some special items not normally available. We started with the beets as a shared salad. Fresh red and yellow beets mixed with silver queen cheese and a light vinaigrette dressing. Very fresh and tasty. For our entrees we ordered the scallops with parsnips and the shrimp panzanella. Both of this dishes hit the WOW factor. The portions were sizable and while each dish was very different they shared flavors that just popped. We ran out of room and didn't get a chance to try dessert but they have a few items on the menu that sounds yummy.

They source most of their ingredients locally and approach preparation with creativity and a real mindfulness about waste. You can taste that intention in every dish. You absolutely have to try the milk-braised potato. It's one of those rare dishes that surprises you with how deeply satisfying it is: simple in concept, executed perfectly, and completely memorable. The chicken pot pie is another standout. A beautifully roasted drumstick crowns the pastry; you lift it out to let the pie cool (and you'll need to because it arrives piping hot). It's a winter special available only through the end of February, and it truly feels special. The flavors are rich and comforting, yet refined. It delivers that sense of home while showcasing genuine culinary skill and artistry. The bar program is excellent, and they also offer a full fridge of thoughtful non-alcoholic options, which I appreciated. Upon entering, the evening seemed promising. The ambiance was moody and intimate, the host was astute and welcoming, and the tile work was beautiful. As the night wore on, however, things slowly stopped adding up to a delicious dining experience. The first thing was the waitress. Apparently the host was also the waitress... and the bartender... and the busser - not that you would know it because of how attentive she was, but shortly after getting our small plates I mentioned to my cousin that I hadn't seen any other person working in the restaurant. While I knew that couldn't be true, I was facing into the restaurant and I only ever saw two other men casually saunter out from the kitchen, look around, and saunter back. No one looked excited to be working there, but the two men who appeared from the kitchen gave me no sense of urgency or purpose, only just that they were extremely bored. The second thing that didn't add up was the Farm to Table narrative. As our Swiss Army Server (thanks for that one, Dimitri) was opening up our wine and recommending dishes, I asked where the farm was located. Apparently, the farm is located in California, and this "farm" owns several other "Farm to Table" restaurants... hmmm... When it came to ordering, we were instructed to order all of our dishes upfront, but that they would come out in courses... While things rolled out like that, the way we were required to order and the way our food came out gave the distinct impression that they weren't dishes being made to order - only delivered to the table in such a way as to give the illusion that they were. Dishes you would expect to come out hot came out room temperature. Dishes you would expect to come out chilled came out room temperature. When each course came out they came out one dish at a time, but one immediately after another... almost like they had been sitting on a table in the kitchen just waiting for anyone to order them. The final, and perhaps most telling thing that didn't add up, was the distinct lack of any smell coming from the kitchen - let alone the restaurant. Only after we left the establishment did we realize how fresh and clean the air smelled. As a home chef, I understand that not every dish calls for garlic and onion, but what about salt? What about pepper? What about any kind of butter or seasoning or even a maillard reaction? In this day and age of salted dark chocolate caramels and umami, attempting any dish completely void of salt is a brave choice, but it's certainly not a heroic one. I mean, we're talking about a restaurant that cooks and serves a filleted trout with its head still attached, eyes buggin' out, bones in, the works! How are we not smelling the fish when it hits the table‽ Have you ever plugged your nose while you tasted something?... Exactly... To finally wrap this review up - the reason why I'm giving this experience 1 star is because the service was attentive, the beet salad was good, and the rest made us laugh uncontrollably at how bad it was. The potato pave was a fun gimmick, and the brussel sprouts were crispy but the pork tenderloin and the fish had no smell, no recordable temperature, and the only flavor I could identify was... dusty dirty mop water? I just don't know... we even tried to load up bites of pork and fish with the polenta, the sautéd and pickled greens, and the "sauces", but nothing helped... if anything, it made things taste worse... truly, I've never been closer to becoming a vegan. People will say we should've just sent back the food, but I've worked in food and bar service. How does requiring that level of service from your waitress for your patrons even begin to make up for a business model whose only job is to make food taste good? After all, I can get that level of service from McDonalds, even though I've never had an experience that required it from them... If you do decide to go to Roux for your next meal, maybe make it breakfast... from my experience, breakfast is a hard meal to mess up.

The staff was friendly and helpful, and the overall customer service was great, which made the experience even better. For appetizers, we ordered the Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs and the Spinach Artichoke Dip. Both were really good. I had never tried deviled eggs with smoked salmon before, but it worked surprisingly well. The salmon didn't overpower the egg and added a really nice flavor. The artichoke dip was also a standout and something I'd definitely order again. For my entrée, I had the Huckleberry Pork Tenderloin, and it was my favorite part of the meal. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the huckleberry sauce, but it completely won me over. It's that perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet, and I genuinely wished I could take a bottle home. I chose the Parmesan mashed potatoes with gravy and the green beans with bacon and onion as my sides. The mashed potatoes were good, though the gravy leaned a little too savory for my taste. The green beans, however, were excellent. The bacon added great texture and flavor. My husband ordered the Cold-Smoked Sous Vide Tri-Tip with green beans and sweet potato mash.
