Michael is an outstanding person, on top of being an almost wizard-like electrician. I called him…read moreup when my lights started flickering and he made space to get out to me ASAP. He took a look at my set-up, which included some DIY upgrades to the bathroom fan and lights. After a quick diagnosis of all-clear (with some minor adjustments) he proceeded to troubleshoot the source of the flickering lights. Heres where it gets awesome...he reached up to push on a light and I heard an electric fizzling sound from the other room. Come to find out that the wiring on a plug had partially burned away and totally degraded - crazy unsafe!! How did he know to push on the light?!? Wizardry, I tell you. Wizardry. So on top of saving my family from a potential house fire, Michael taught me about my electrical set-up, laid out some options for updating the system, and shared his thoughts on potential costs and ways to reduce those costs. All the while, he joked and had me cracking up. Not just good at his job, but funny as hell and an all-around good dude. No upsell once he got into the walls. No gouging because of my urgent need for help. No shoddy work. He even made sure to repair in a way that would be the most safe for a household with a couple of curious little kids around. Michael is the real deal. I'm excited to send him more work in the near future and can't recommend him enough.

I called a few chimney contractors that people suggested, but I rarely got a call back and the two prices I received seemed terribly high to me. Then, having seen Brickliners trucks around town, I called Brickliners and all of a sudden things got easier and better! The ladies in the office were really polite and helpful and we made an appointment for Adam to come take a look. He climbed right up to the chimney, did a thorough examination, took photos, and explained all that needed to be done, along with a preliminary cost estimate. I then received the written estimate promptly by email and signed on the dotted line! I had the work done early in the season, receiving an early season discount. The fellows who came and did the job were very personable, knowledgeable, neat and efficient. The job was done in less than two days and the chimney looks great. I asked them how I could tell they did a great job (it's not like I can walk up to my chimney and check it out!) and they explained they take pictures to show Jake back at the office, so he knows every job is performed to the highest standards. Bottom line, friendly, professional, fairly priced (chimney work, by its very nature is expensive!), time efficient, solid warranty, all great!

During that time, Top Notch Roofing caused our home to flood, causing the bedroom ceiling to collapse and requiring full insulation and ceiling replacement. The living room developed two additional leaks due to their shoddy work, which meant more ceiling repairs and repainting the entire open-concept space. Our front yard was left destroyed after equipment and materials sat there for over 90 days. It wasn't just a mess; the material sat there for an entire summer; killing our lawn in the process. The crew was inconsistent at best; often no-shows, with little to no cleanup when they did come. When asked, they said they were from "Lowell"; which we assumed was local (Lowell, VT), but it turned out they were commuting from Lowell, MA. To our house in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Gabe and Drew built porch stairs that weren't up to code. When Dave, the owner, finally came to assess their work, he made them tear it out and rebuild it, but not before we were treated to the comedy gold that was Drew jumping up and down on the steps in an attempt to prove they were "fine." Dave also made everybody clean up the front yard, which took close to two hours between four people (Drew, Gabe, Jessica, Dave). Despite claiming on their website to be "fully insured," we learned that their insurance only covers subcontractors, not their own crew. So any work performed by Gabe or Drew or supervised by them isn't covered. Their own insurance company assessed $86,000 in damages to our home, and those are just the parts they acknowledged. After two rounds of "repairs" by a different crew, Dave parted with the words, "We can't do any better." I'll let the photos speak for themselves. TopNotch? More Bottom of the Barrel

The company I had used previously forgot my appointment twice in a row, didn't bother to give me an exact time they would be stopping by, and also made an off-putting comment to me over the phone so to say I was irked was an understatement and generally I am really nice with everyone I meet.
