There wasn't an event going on at the time, but the facility still really impressed me! Gorgeous piece of architecture, but also a really well maintained lawn and surrounding grounds that looked like it could accommodate a considerable gathering of people. There's a fountain near the memorial plaque, along with some statuary and some cute music makers for people to play with. I was quite enamored by the multicolored mosaic animal statues (I had to snap a photo with each!) near one of the entrances. I noticed a couple of port-a-potties and many trash cans. Also the geese waddling about the grounds were kinda cute. I'll probably look online to see if they're having any upcoming events that interest me, because it'd be cool to show up for a performance!

The space is smaller so it felt more intimate than a traditional outdoor venue. The sound and lights were great! We were able to bring in our own lawn chairs and the drink options were very decently priced for a concert venue. They had a handful of food trucks on site. We were able to find free street parking nearby. All of the workers were very friendly and it was a great way to spend a summer evening in Minnesota!

The team's first season was in 2017. I think the team has gradually improved since that time, finishing in the semifinals in both the 2020 MLS is Back Tournament and the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs. Minnesota's 2020 team lost, 3-2, to the Seattle Sounders in the Western Conference Finals. Despite not making it to the final game, Minnesota's Kevin Molino ended up as the top goalscorer in the 2020 playoffs with 4 goals. Christian Ramirez is the team's all-time top goalscorer with 74 goals scored during his time with the team from 2014 to 2018. However, most of those goals were scored during Minnesota's time in the North American Soccer League (NASL), not MLS. If you count MLS-era goals only, Darwin Quintero owns the team record with 27 goals scored between 2018 and 2019. Robin Lod and Emmanuel Reynoso are the guys to keep your eyes on these days. That said, you're the best indoor soccer facility in the Twin Cities (and I've played at them all). You give folks the opportunity to play indoor or outdoor, single sex or co-ed and on various levels from beginner to competitive. Your refs (especially Forrester and TJ) are the kind of caliber you don't typically get in rec leagues, which is as valuable as the convenient location and above-average facility, in my opinion. If you like old-school boards, they've got 2 of those. Gone is the Astroturf of yesterday. You can even play in your regular cleats on this pitch. Same goes for the indoor/outdoor field (domed from October-May). You'll never play on regular grass again. I have been to Soccer Blast more times than I can count as my daughter has played soccer in Minnesota from the time she was six years old--she is 23 and still plays...so I have spent many an hour on the bleachers at Soccer Blast during the winter on Saturdays and Sundays...I am thankful that places like this exist and indoor soccer is a whole different game than full field outdoor but it really gives kids a chance to work on foot skills and passing..

Unfortunately, we started on that side so our kiddos were a little bored by the time we got halfway through. Note to self: start on the other side first next time. There are plenty of places to exit and enter along the trail. The playgrounds were also a huge hit. We spent more time on those than we did seeing actual animals. I loved the self-service kiosk at the food station, and they have great beer options, too. It's a busy place no matter when you go, but it's so nice to have that much space to walk around and explore. Excited for the Japanese monkey update coming soon!

My two faves hands down were the Conservation Carousel (requires token purchase) and the Llama Walk. The carousel features an incredible variety of critters you can ride, and I had a tough time picking which one I wanted. The employees operating the ride were very kind, allowing me extra time to get photos (I'm a big fan of carousels). A ride costs $4, which is kinda steep since it's really only a couple minutes long, buuut you figure it's going to a good cause. The llama walk was delightful because the llamas were free-roaming, not behind a fence, so they could walk right up to you (which many did). I definitely found myself giggling more than once. Also special to this place is a splash pad and a jungle gym. I had intended to enjoy both, but again, my in-laws were kind of dictating the trip (they paid), so I missed out. But next time I'll for sure run around in the water and go down the slide (I'm a kid at heart- age is just a number!). There were also occasional backdrop photo ops around the outdoor areas which was great for someone like me who loves selfies. Another neat feature is their Treetop Trail, which essentially goes all the way around the outdoor sections but from around 12 feet above as a suspended boardwalk. Not quite as shady, for obvious reasons, but also less crowded and avoids some of the random elevation changes. Cool to have multiple ways to experience the park, imo! The aquarium section is mid. That's okay. The tropical section was amazing! The lemurs were especially cute. We didn't end up seeing the farm exhibit, nature center, dino explore, or North American section. Like I said, we missed out on a lot, regrettably. :\ Dumb when it's $26/a head for adults, plus $10 for parking. I'll have to come back some other time, perhaps when they are done with the construction currently going on for the snow monkies. Giftshop had many cute things. The standard stuff you'd expect to find: t-shirts and apparel, plushies, toys, magnets, keychains, pins, patches, stickers, figurines. Lots of bathrooms and water bottle refill stations/water fountains scattered about, so no worries about staying well hydrated! Overall it was a very nice, well-maintained, modern facility!

Went here for my cousins swearing in ceremony (to become a cop). I think we were in a room called…read morethe something garden. I liked that when you walked in the building they had a sign telling you which room the events were in so you didn't have to stop and ask anyone. The space was really nice and the ceremony went great. After they did cake and coffee in the back and right outside of the room it looked like there was a park and maybe a small garden or something. This is a really nice sports complex! Golf, soccer, lax, baseball! It has it all!…read more The bleachers at the baseball fields are really nice with some umbrellas in between for shade or light rain protection. The grass and infield are well taken care of. It's a little tricky to find it...driving through the park and ride lot to find the road to the older kid's baseball field. There's only portable bathrooms. Since it takes forever to get anywhere else since this complex is nestled between historic Fort Snelling and the airport. You could take the light rail to the Fort Snelling stop but you'd have to walk 3-4 blocks to get to the ballfields. The old buildings from the fort are quite photogenic and fun to take pictures of until the game starts. You can hear the roar of the crowd, the roar of interstate traffic, and the roar of the planes overhead! Still a really nice complex to meet all of your sporting needs super close to the cities.
