Not too hard to imagine, because you can walk to the ledge over Grand Hill and look down at the river, the bluffs, the bridges and trees and wonder if they look back. The park has been all kinds of tore up for some time as they installed a GIANT statue of an eagle killing a snake, some grand gesture of Americaness or some such that was salvaged from some razed building in St. Paul then moved to a parking garage and then moved to the park for us to enjoy. There will be seating wall, a "plaza" and a drinking fountain, and hopefully coming this spring....GRASS.

The last two months, my bestie and I have been walking the track and participating in the water aerobics class at 7:00pm on Mondays. Staff have been friendly most of the time. This evening the gal at the front desk was a little snippy to us. We made a comment saying how the water park was quiet, she quickly replied back with yeah, can't you tell it's being cleaned? It came off kinda rude to us. Almost made us feel silly/dumb for making an observation and being vocal about it. We utilize the walking track and pool. Place is pretty clean. Water aerobics instructor and fellow participants are all very friendly. Water aerobics instructor is nice and friendly. She is always welcoming to us and thanks us for coming to class. Great class. The day pass is $10.00 each time, not too bad for drop in. I wish step class was offered in the evenings and on the weekend. Then maybe I'd consider joining as a member. Until then guest pass it is.

It is a sort of unofficial off-leash park for dogs as apparently Inver Grove Heights leash law is that if the dog is under voice command it does not need to be on a leash. So lots of dogs running and swimming out here, the ones we met today were all very friendly and well behaved. My only real compliant about this place is that most of the walk you are very close to the highway (there's a fence along the highway side, no worries about pups running out there!) so while it was beautiful to see all the trees, grass, and water, the constant sound of traffic was less peaceful.

6/3/22: Compared to La Lake Park, Carver Lake is an actual park. It has a park loop trail that's…read more3.8 miles and is good for walking, running, hiking & mountain biking. There's a section with a free parking lot, a small beach for swimming (no lifeguard), bathrooms and an actual paved trail, as well as dirt trails. There is also a slight incline on the trails, which is nice for those wanting an extra workout challenge. The trails are also well maintained. The bonus was that the weather was perfect today (no bugs) and we saw a deer! If you go deep into the woods, you don't hear the traffic and it really feels like you're deep in nature. Carver Lake is better for outdoor activity compared to La Lake Park. They're probably less than a mile apart, so if you're close to both, just go to Carver.
