I'm mentally exhausted from the experience I just had at this place. I felt like I had attempt to communicate with a caveman who obviously had no experience with cell phones. A sales person (Derek I believe) approached me and I immediately wished he hadn't. There were about 10 other employees doing inventory and they probably knew exactly what I was in for with this man.
My phone randomly starting resetting itself every minute today. It wasn't sending messages, calling or doing anything in the brief minute before it reset again. It wasn't dropped, it didn't get wet.
Derek proceeded to attempt to factory reset. When he couldn't navigate to the option in Settings fast enough he told me I would just have to buy another phone. I asked if there was a way that he could "hard key" factory reset, he attempted to try it. He failed miserably. After several attempts, a screen came up that started a download. It specifically said do not turn off, and what does he do?
When I asked him why he did that, he said, "That's not the right screen." He repeated himself many times, even after I told him I understood what he just said.
When I took the phone from him to try the reset myself, he couldn't even tell me the steps to do it. I asked if I needed to press the up or down volume keys and he replied "They do different things." I asked which does the reset and he couldn't give me an answer.
He repeatedly said, "We see this all the time, we do this all the time." HE didn't seem like he had ever done a reset, and his inexperience said he was brand new. How could he have seen that all the time if he was new?
Finally, I asked him about options to purchase and he couldn't even give me knowledgeable answers on that front. He said by upgrading my payment would go down $1 a month. When I skeptically looked at him (I mean...I'm upgrading a phone and I have to pay less?) he said "It's a numbers thing."
I wanted to yell at that point. I didn't tell him, but I'm a mechanical engineer. I can do math. It's very rude for a sales person to assume someone can't do simple arithmetic and then fail to explain exactly why my bill would go down.
Next we went to look at the Galaxy phones. The S6 and S6 edge+ were right next to each other. When I asked where the regular S6 edge was, he said "that's it right there." I had to explain to him that the edge+ was larger than the regular edge (very noticeably). He then stuttered about them maybe having one in the back or in a box etc etc. Then suggested we walk around the store front to find it. He didn't even know where the merchandise was and we literally had to walk around everywhere to find it.
If this was a new employee, he should not be thrown to customers like that. If he was experienced, then I assume he has a disorder where his memory resets every day because I knew more about cell phones than he did. The other employees knew that he wasn't being helpful and never offered to step in.
The only thing he did right was refer me to a store down the street that repaired phones. They factory reset my phone immediately with no troubles and did it for free. My phone works now, no thanks to the sales people at this Verizon store. read more
