I would consider the customer service seriously before I'd visit a TTC "Verizon Authorized Retailer store". I had the distinct privilege of visiting a TCC in Yakima, WA, at 6410 W Nob Hill Boulevard. I'd go to another one, or directly to a Verizon dealer! In truth, I didn't even know when I went in, that it wasn't at a Verizon dealer, the big sign on the building said Verizon.
Yesterday, one Nov 27th, I went in to initiate the switch from AT&T to Verizon. I worked with a gentleman that was probably new, but that didn't limit the service from him personally. He did as he was supposed and asked, and clarified, every question I asked him. The problem was with the person he asked the information from. I traded in phone and was trying to purchase a case, when asked what they had, he was pointed to one case. I asked if they had any others because the recommended one was too slippery. Nope, he was told, that's what we have. I was told they could order one, that would be here in two days, I declined then figuring, if I had to wait, it would be cheaper to go to Amazon.
I went back last night to give over some verification of employment papers. He wasn't back yet. I was asked by the same gal as earlier, to wait that he'd be back soon. Then she proceeded to let me wait almost 30 min for him, just to give him a paper, while she helped at least 3 customers that arrived after I did, on this second visit to the store.
Cut to the next day, I went back to the store to get some assistance to complete the "join Verizon and we'll pay your costs to switch" process online because the same gal who gave me the sheet with the advertisement said go online and do "this" and handed me the paper. I tried, it didn't work. At this visit, the same gal present, was happily talking and joking with a person she obviously knew enough to be trading pictures and gossiping with. No doubt, she let me sit there and wait for somebody else. Further when it thought I was wrong and maybe they were working on something, they began to try and port over her friends number from AT&T. The account they were trying to add this ported phone over too, was obviously not owned, nor was he a identified person permitted to make changes. The Verizon rep on the phone told him that when he said that no, he wasn't that person who owed the account and they hung up. This this gal told him to say that that account owner was in fact there, and she would be that person. It's nice to know that they would break Verizon's own policy, when inclined.
I told the next representative how disappointed I was that I could not get a protective case when I got the phone, never a good idea. Because, having extra time on my hands waiting and looking thru the cases on other walls, they had no less than 10 other cases, on other racks that were specifically for my phone? But I'd already had to order one on Amazon.
After I'm told that the correct "join Verizon and we'll pay your costs to switch" process was not what was indicated on their TCC document, and told how to do it differently, correctly, I left TCC/Verizon for home, for the third time. I imagine how happy I was to leave that evening and have this much unprotected phone slide out of my pocket and crack the back case of the phone on the concrete. Awesome, thanks for all your help. Nope, you didn't drop the phone, but the fact that it was not in a phone case, that's on you! Of course subsequent discussions the courteous manager Jessica, resulted in "I'm not sure what you want me to do for you?" After 30 days, I could file with "Assurion?" a claim to
repair my damaged phone. But for now, I should send in my perfectly good AT&T phone and use my
brand new damaged one. I'm sure, even though I purchased the insurance, it's going to cost me at least
$200 out of my pocket to claim it! The manager was "not comfortable" in giving me the name of the
helpful rep. that had given her customer so much help in this whole thing.
