Our first time here, and we enjoyed it. Taco dinner with pastor, and rice and beans were tasty and hit the spot. We also ordered a steak taco and a fish taco. Both were lacking in flavor. We will definitely come back to try other items.

I really like this place! I'm a professor at Oakton College and stopped here a couple of years ago. There are many options on the corner and when I had a class in Skokie again I drive by and decided to see if it was as good as I had remembered. It's not. It's better than I remembered! It is now the stop I visit on my way home from class at night. Their hours are great for that and their place looks fantastic! I get mine to go so I can't speak on the service but the tacos are PACKED with meat and are delicious! My favorite is the chicken. The fish is okay... the beef is great. I like it. I recommend it. The price is right. Enjoy!

I am unapologetically *obsessed* with Verde Avocado in Skokie. I happened upon the spot when I was at Best Buy one evening and wanted to grab a quick dinner. Little did I know, their quesadilla dinner was going to change my life. Next thing I know, I've asked friends to meet there for lunch twice, I've stopped in to pick up meals, and I've doordashed it countless times at this point. The beans and rice are good and fresh - the rice is soft which I like. The quesadilla though is so good. They give you the option of corn or flour tortillas. It's filled to the brim with chicken and melty cheese - and there's so many pieces I usually can get 3 meals out of it! Highly recommend! So yummy!

Excellent Food; Good ambience; great Service! Nice combinations in a tucked away corner. I plan on going again.

My husband really liked his burrito dinner especially for $15. I thought my $10 milanesa chicken torta was just ok and not worth the price. The chicken was paper thin so it was not much meat. I wouldn't get it again. They offered free chips and salsa (red and green, both of which were spicy but the red was spicier) Our friend got a steak dinner but I think it was $27. The burrito was a better deal.

Verde Avocado is a solid choice for Mexican food in the North suburbs. I came here with a dear friend a few weeks ago to catch up and have lunch. Post meal, I have nothing but good things to say about the place. Chips and salsa are complimentary offering red and green sauce. I like heat but have a heat threshold. I personally preferred the green over the red. I love the range of food they offer. Aside from the standard tortas, tacos and burritos they also serve beef birria tacos and posole. The ambiance is bright and fun with an adequate amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Alcohol is served here and next time I go with the hubby, I'd love to check out their drink menu. Pricing is fair for what you get and the service is quick and friendly.

A fellow Yelper recommended this restaurant and I'm so glad we tried it! We sat down and the server was friendly and fast! She immediately brought out chips and two types of salsa. The salsa was cold and yummy. The red one had more spice but was not extremely spicy. We ordered our food and she brought it out quickly. Our meals were both really tasty and portion was great! I also ordered the horchata and it was good. There is an outdoor patio so you can dine outside as well. There is plenty of parking in the lot. Would definitely eat here again!

2 pastor tacos, rice and beans, and horchata

I got the dine-in weekday lunch taco special which included 2 tacos, rice and beans, and a horchata. The pastor was spiced perfectly, and there was a slight char which added depth and texture. The free chips were a little thick (but that might be personal preference) and the salsas were a good level of spice. Good deal and great food!

So I decided to try this place for breakfast . I ordered the Carne Asada with two eggs , also included were rice, beans , tortillas and pico de gallo . The steak was tender & flavorful ,eggs cooked perfect, very happy with my choice.

Decent food and ok service. Our waitress was nice. Not the most comfortable or inviting layout and I felt the food was a bit expensive for what it was. overall it was a pleasant experience but not enough to make me want to go back anytime soon. If you're in the area and feel like Mexican it's definitely worth a try but I wouldn't go out of my way for this.

Burrito Carne Asada (skirt steak) $10

I'm writing to tell you 2 things: 1) loving the value and taste of the food here! I got a huge steak burrito for $10, and it was 2 big meals for me. If I crave a burrito, I'm coming here. My husband inhaled his quesadilla dinner, and our minis shared a side of guacamole ($6), cheese quesadillas, and a steak torta. Complimentary (that i vs e ever trip anyone else up?) chips and salsa come with dine in. 2) it's located inconspicuously next to a car wash on the north side of Touhy across from Village Crossing, and there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Get here fast!

I never went to West of Edens but when I saw the Verde Avocado sign driving down Niles Center Road, it piqued my curiosity. Lots of windows, not a lot of tables but a nice patio. I was waiting on my friend, who is a vegetarian, so I anxiously scanned the menu to make sure there were options for them (there were plenty). As I was waiting I received chips with two salsas (one spicy). I love Chilaquiles so I had to try theirs. I picked the green sauce and it was a little spicy but very tasty. This came with rice and beans (wonderful!). My friend had a torta. We both enjoyed our food and the service was very attentive. Of course we will have to come back to try the tacos. The parking lot can get very crowded as there is a car wash and a car repair shop. The line for the car wash goes right through the lot.

While it's not exactly cheap, this is still very fairly priced (without tips required) with a lot of different food offered (including a full assortment of banchan). Outside of a bit more banchan choices, more comfortable seating, some more dish choices, and nicer decor there's surprisingly little that you're really missing by dining at this location. The food here is of the same high quality that you expect at any other SGD location. For me, the main entrees are large enough as well that you can share one between two people, making this actually a fairly economical option for dining in Hmart. The flavors and textures are on point, and the cooking speed is pretty good. Overall, definitely worth a visit if you're an SGD fan or looking to get a fuller set of dining options while shopping in this area. While the Korean BBQ and Bento boxes will stand out to most people right away, do give their tofu stew a try if you haven't before.

They also have a bunch of fried food on the shelf next to the counter and they will actually heat it up for you. The fried squid was warm and crunchy but the squid was tender. The soup was very filling. It was a lot of food considering you also get an assortment of pickles with it. The main dining room has a view of the kitchen, and the second dining room is adjacent to the bar. I recommend the bar, as I am not a fan of open kitchens and if you are lucky you can get a table against the windows, secluded from the hubbub. It is a loud, energetic space. They have a solid cocktail program, particularly their riff on a Black Manhattan with bourbon and Demerara - a refugee from an Old Fashioned. I recommend swapping out bourbon for rye and holding the Demerara - its an excellent drink. A good collection of Italian and American wines. We ordered the Lemelson, a light bodied Pinot from Willamette Valley. It paired well with the lobster ravioli special and roast chicken. For food, we ordered the aforementioned entrees, and started with the meatballs and the beet salad. The meatballs were superb, flavorful and juicy. The beet salad was delicious, as were the entrees. Just a note, they have a very heavy hand with the sauces. The lobster ravioli came with a cognac cream sauce that painted the plate. It had much more tomato than I was led to believe but the dish was still very good. Kelly had the red wine reduction on the side for her chicken, and it was a veritable bowl of soup! The mushrooms are actually in the sauce, and it has a strong bitter flavor - I liked it but it was not Kelly's favorite. Still, a very good dish. We went light for dessert and had a scoop of gelato and a scoop of sorbet. They were both excellent. Service is friendly, the tables have plenty of space between them and the restrooms are accessible. No valet, but a free city lot is a short block away and street parking is available. Definitely worth a trip from the city.

Spacious and elegant, the bar area seemed even larger than the dining room, though not many people were there for Happy Hour (please add more options to Happy Hour). We split a charcuterie plate (not exciting) and some pinsas (flatbread pizzas), one a margherita style and the other a pesto flavor (our favorite). We basically met to have some drinks and catch up but I would have welcomed a few more choices. The staff was very attentive and friendly and even sent out some complimentary bruschetta. There is plentiful free parking. It's great to have another restaurant in this area of downtown Skokie. Though I didn't have dinner, my friends recommend it!
