It's cold and gross out and this year has been something so my niece and I figured, we're in need of some pampering. She said she comes to Veola's all the time so we should go here. I'm like, sure, I'll trust you. Then she canceled on me but I said, no I'm still going. I was booked for a full body massage and a pedicure. The customer service was great. I got here right after she called and cancelled and she cancelled my appointment as well! She went to see if the masseuse was still there and he was so I got my massage first. The masseuse was kind, funny, and was great. He made sure he adjusted the pressure when I said to. I was very relaxed and my muscles felt looser in the end. It had been several months since my last massage so he was great at working out the tightness in my shoulders, back, etc. My pedicure followed my massage. They even gave me yogurt and water while I got my pedicure. I was surprised that the young lady who did my pedicure was one of the owners. She was so talkative and kind. She didn't rush though my pedicure and paid attention when she polished my nails. She was great. There wasn't any polish on my skin that needed to be removed. Since there was so much snow outside, they let me sit as long as I wanted under the dryer so my polish wouldn't mess up. The atmosphere is relaxing in Veola's, however, they do need to update the spa. I even suggested they start carrying their own products for sale. Some of the items they had up front looked like a hodgepodge of products. I think it will help them more to clean that out, update, and sell their own. Outside of that, I can see myself returning for services. Unlike other complaints, I liked my service. They were prompt, professional, and didn't try to sell me anything. read more

I split my beauty services between three Black owned day spas. I love massages, manicures and pedicures. I have had the opportunity to visit Veola's twice this year. I scheduled a mani/pedi for the first service and a mani/pedi/massage for the second. I LOVE the mani/pedi service. During my two experiences, I was the only client in the service area. I am not sure if this is standard, but I appreciated it because spa conversation can become uncomfortable especially in the current climate. I haven't had to pull out my airpods at Veola's. The technician wore a mask and there was a plastic divider between us. I felt safe. I believe there is only one technician. I could be wrong. Regardless, she knows what she is doing. She is incredibly skilled and when I leave my feet are extremely soft. She is also extremely polite and kind. I love it! I am glad that I added Veola's to the rotation and look forward to my next visit. read more

After the last incident, I got a call about 3 weeks ago from the owner and she insisted that I come in for a facial that she would personally administer herself. Reluctantly, I threw on some clothes and made the trek from my place to the spa. She greeted me warmly and told me that we'd have a discussion about what had taken place the last time I tried to book an appointment. This visit was on a Tuesday, which apparently is Veola's day off; she'd made a special trip just to do my facial. I must say that she knows what she's doing; I was glowing when I left there and I was sent home with a bag of goodies specifically chosen to maintain that glow. Will I go back? My first visit to Veola's was just to meet owner/workers and check out the atmosphere. It was pleasing so I've returned three times. First one hour massage, second body scrub and massage, third the works. Body scrub, body massage w/hot stones, facial, mani/pedi and lunch. I was there longer than expected, but that was definitely not a problem. I love this place and the people who run it, and will return and recommend. The long winded bad reviews were interesting, often times reviews have to do with politics and personality of the person giving them. I visited for a facial and full body wrap wrap. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Both services were performed very well. The cost was very reasonable too! I will definitely go back. One criticism, after the mud wrap a lotion should be applied to the skin because I felt dry after the shower given. read more

I will not go back. The owner was dismissive and dishonest. Ms. Veola lost her customer service when she did not want to honor my 100.00 gift card. She turned me away at least two times. When she realized it was indeed her error she never apologized. So I used the gift card but I will never go there again. Aside from this the place had ants. I receieved my very first massage here, it was giving by the owners daughter. Who was very nice and welcoming, I didnt know that it was her daughter until i went to pay for my massage and the owner came out to speak with her and she greated me and asked what I did for a living and was all around really nice. She even offered me a job if I wanted to change from a d.a to a massage therapist since I expressed I had always thought about pursing that. I havent been back only because I have bad time management but I will return simply because of the customer service. The only thing it was really cool in there, considering I was receieving a full body massage I thoyght it wld be warmer but they addressed it and brought me an extra space heater. read more

For all of the ingrown hair, zit faced men out encroach on the women's territory. I have been a customer at Veola's Day Spa since the day it opened. Veola is one of sweetest people that you would ever want to meet. Her caring nature transmit through her hands. She is the ultimate professional when it comes to skin care. I had black heads, white heads and scattered facial hair. Men deserve to treat ourselves every now and then. I don't get off too much with manicures so this is my treat. I've been to the spa a few times and each time gets worse. I tried to give it a chance and hoped things improved but, alas, it was not to be. I first have to say that Jasmine is great. I love when she does my facials and underarm wax. She is pleasant and does a fantastic job. Unfortunately, it is not enough to have me return. Ms. Veola is my issue. I don't appreciate scheduling specific services and then get shanghaied into other services. For example, I was just there this week and had scheduled for an eyebrow wax, bikini wax, and 60 min massage. When I got there, I confirmed these services. Ms. Veola proceeded to try to give me a face wax, which is not what I asked for and before I knew it had done a lip and chin wax that I had to pay for. Then, I had a bikini wax and she tried to give me a Brazilian and I put a stop to that. During the entire visit, as she always does, the hard sell was there. I was never relaxed because I constantly had to fend of her trying to sell me something. I think it is okay to offer additional services or products but she goes way overboard and it gets to be a pain when it is done during the entire visit. I had my appt at 1p and by 305 i had only had my facial. The wait time was ridiculous. I had asked for a 60 min massage and asked her to focus a bit on my lower back and was then charged for a "therapeutic massage" which was total crap since it was not any different than a regular massage and I paid 20 extra for something else I hadn't asked for in the first place. The entire experience is a repeat of some of the earlier visits I've experienced and I finally decided that I won't be going back again. I tried to support this business but I can no longer do so after this last visit.I feel that it was deceptive and dishonest business practice to switch services with the client forcing a higher total. I hope she enjoyed that one because it will be the last. I will miss Jasmine but not enough to stay. I will just return to Spa Space. read more

I came here as a birthday present for myself and for a day of pampering before the birth of my first child. I had never been to Veola's before and I figure this was an opportune time to patronize a business whose owner looks like me. When I first walked in I was met with a very friendly receptionist who tried to make me comfortable (as comfortable as a 9 month pregnant woman can be). However the atmosphere should have told me to leave. I am a spa goer. I visit the spa at least once a quarter so I have plenty experience to base an informed opinion on. This place is cluttered with everything you can think of. Many spas make a portion of their money on retail sales. I expect that. However I don't expect to be sold everything from facial cream to dresses, to sun bleached nail polish. I go back to start my services (a facial and a pregnancy massage). I'm used to being led to the quiet room where you put your things away in the locker so that you can unplug from the world and free your mind of all things and get into relaxation mode. Didn't happen here. I was led directly into the room where my service was going to be performed. Was given a towel to put on top of my clothes (this was demonstrated to me by the friendly receptionist as she put the towel on top of her clothes), but chose not to use it. What can I say about the facial.......I could have done it myself. When she was in the room she talked the entire time. I learned more about her family members then I ever wanted to know or that I'm sure either of them wanted me to know. When she wasn't talking she was out of the room. She was gone so long, I pulled out my cell phone and started texting people. I've had many a facial and never have I had someone talk through the service or leave the room as often and as long as she did. There was nothing relaxing about it. I was asked did I go to spas often and I admitted yes and even said where I frequent. Because they weren't of the same hue, she had nothing but negative things to say. Wow Really? All during my facial. After it was over I was relieved and was so ready to go. I started to call my favorite place to make an appointment right then but I was trying to keep an open mind, hoping the massage would be better. My massage was good. My technician understood what it was like to be at the end of a pregnancy and she truly made me feel comfortable and her massage was fabulous! Again the atmosphere was not. The upstairs was a bit dark and the decor dated. There was a not so pleasant fragrance that I would rather not have experienced. This was my first, Last, and ONLY experience at this location. Since then I have continued to frequent my favorite downtown spot that makes me feel how I expect to feel when I go to a spa. Clear the clutter, update the decor and improve on some of the customer service and this place could truly compete with the downtown spas. They already charge like they do, now they just need to provide the "feeling" they do as well. read more

You're suppose to have a zen feeling when you enter a spa, right? Well, I beg to differ at Veola's Day Spa, this place is definitely stuck in a 80's time warp. It's cluttered, dusty, and full of clothes from the past. I go there to get my hair done by the only good and "current" thing there is ROZ. Roz, who has a cult addicted clientele, and is the bomb ass stylist. However, I find that Mrs. Veola, is not a friendly proprietor to ALL the clients who enter her establishment. An example of her biases, are if your a clients who is getting a manicure, pedicure or other spa services, she would come across friendly. But ,if your a client getting hair services, she breezes by you without even an acknowledgment, she won't even say a simple hello. She's gives the vibe of being annoyed. I have no desire to get any of her over priced treatments. I think that she should call Tabatha to give that spa a much deserved make over and much deserved attitude adjustment with a dose of humbleness. You never now how a business make ends meet in this tight economy. read more
