I went in for a TRIM! Told the owner that I was growing it out, she immediately began to layer it. I started crying. She kept saying I must be upset about something else; it couldn't be her hair cut job. At the end... I hated it and told her that it was shaggy, uneven and now I wanted the long parts cut off to even it to the shortest parts. She refused! But said I had to pay for it or she was going to call the police and send me to jail. She called me crazy, all this after she prayed OUT LOUD for me as she was butchering my hair! I had the worst experience the past two days. Let's just say, I'll never be going back to Venus Salon in the Meridian mall. I was charged $215 for this. $55 for a hair cut $75 for highlights And $90 for a color 1- I told her I did NOT want layers, and she gave me layers. Lots of short, choppy, horrible ugly layers. 2- she did not give me highlights like I asked. She just stuck straight, ugly orange blonde all over my head. Yet I was still charged for a highlight. And she put the red way too far up my head. Which is not what I told her I wanted I let her know I did not like what she did, and she just ignored what I said and told me it looks great. I did not receive a refund. So, I went over to Regis salon crying my eyes out and they are fixing this now. One of the stylists from Regis went back over to Venus salon to let her know I deserve my money back and tell her how unhappy I am, and the lady called me the Devil. Now let me give you a little back story on this. She is bat shit crazy religious and kept forcing her religion upon me the whole time I got my hair done. She prayed for me (which was ok) but then she took it too far. She forced me to read bible versus' aloud to her and very angrily told me that I "better apologize to God for not believing in him" She did not go one sentence without trying to force her religion upon me. I was very, very uncomfortable. So, not only am I out $220, my hair is horrible, I have to pay another salon to fix it, I have to damage my hair even more with chemicals, I have to get my hair cut shorter YET AGAIN, and the crazy chick called me the Devil. Let's just say, never go there. Ever. Like, at all. But thank you SO much to Regis Salons for giving me a discount and offering to fix my hair. read more

I'm not sure if this place is still open but wanted to put my two cents in since I've been recovering from this nightmare for years. Went in February of 2016 for a trim. I was new to the area had never been to a salon in the area before. The owner was personable and made me feel cared for so I trusted her. I told her I wanted as little cut off as possible. She ended up chopping over half my hair off, buzzed my baby hairs with a shaver, and gave me a mullet My hair was long, blonde, and beautiful before I went into this salon. That was 2016, it's almost the end of 2019 and my hair has never been the same. read more

EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED I had the worst experience and would not recommend to anyone. I went in to get a piece of damaged hair trimmed. Jenny Pham showed me a style she thought I would like. I was clear that I only wanted that one spot taken care of and not a new style. She insisted on giving me a trim and proceeded to give the style she thought I would like. Ok, so it's been a while since my visits to Venus Personal Image. It took me a while to recover from my traumatizing experience. The first time I went, I happened to be at the Meridian Mall shopping and noticed that they did brow waxing, so I thought, why not, my brows are getting pretty out of control. The owner did the brow wax and also said she would have one of the other stylists give me a free trim on my hair--at first I was skeptical, but I needed a trim too, so I agreed. The stylist did a fine job with the trim and I so I thought it would be a good idea to go back there for my next haircut. Bad idea! The next time I went in for a full haircut, the owner did my hair. I asked her to thin it out and trim off a couple of inches, which she did. She was a bit rough with my hair (I was thinking in my head, wow she is really MANHANDLING it, as in pulling really hard with the brush) but was ok with it because in the end, my hair looked fine. I was kind of uncomfortable though because she kept trying to push other services on me while she was cutting my hair: why not a facial? why don't you have me wax your brows too? Despite these early warning signs, I made another appointment with her because my hair turned out ok. The third time there, however, was a nightmare. I went in again for a trim, and she basically grabbed a clump of hair off the top of my head and CHOPPED IT OFF. Keep in mind, I had long hair at the time. This resulted in a freaking MULLET. I HAD A MULLET. I also told her not to cut my bangs, and she did. I was so upset. It took a good six months to grow out the mullet. I went to another salon to have it fixed, and the girl who fixed it said that the cut was haphazard, and didn't follow the usual "lines" that sylists use to cut hair. The worst part? I swore never to go back to Venus Personal Image, but they kept calling me, like a scorned ex!! I made the mistake of answering the phone once, and the receptionist there wanted to know why I wasn't coming back. I told her that I wasn't happy with my hair and had a mullet I didn't ask for. The next few days, the owner repeatedly called me on my personal cell phone, asking why I wasn't coming back. In my opinion this is abuse of personal information--a salon shouldn't be calling clients begging them to return! Beware of this place, unless you want to look like you just stepped out of a bad '80's movie. read more

If I could give a review zero stars, I would. The owner not only embarrassed me in front of the other customers, but ridiculed my entire being. It was not her place to tell me that my boyfriend was going to dump me because of the way I look or carry on about my eyebrows. No customer should EVER be spoken to that way. Jenny is a horrible stylist. I worked for her for a few months she lied and cheated and did not pay me right. I watched her harass clients and she loved to give people mullets. I can't believe that place still is in business. She harassed me when I quit working for her threatening me like lady what's wrong with you. If you are reading this before it is too late, like I should have, I'm here to let you know do NOT go to this salon. Turn around and walk away if you at all like your hair. I normally do NOT leave reviews on anything but for this case I physically came to this website and made an account to make a review because I figured if I could help one girl out I will have done some good. Such a stupid foolish girl I was too trust a hair stylist I never had. I was won over by the salon owner because she was very personal, offered me good deals, and told me her customers were like her "children" to her. I grew trust in her to dye and trim my hair for me; wrong move. She promised me from the start that she would not take length off my hair (which was mid back). She insisted she was only trimming it. Before I knew it, she took out the buzzer that you use to shave mens hair, and buzzed off the hair by my ears (side burn area) and all my baby hairs. She then gave me bangs and chopped a good 10 inches off while assuring the whole time she was leaving length. It gets worse: my hair was blonde and my roots were coming in. She dyed my roots and when she was finished they were orange! She insisted they looked good orange while the rest of my hair was blonde. She insisted this was an "ombre". At the end she told me she did what she wanted with the length and it was "too late" now. I couldnt sleep the next day because I hated my hair so much, and wanted my long blonde hair back; but at this point there was nothing I could do of the length. I needed the color fixed though. I went to a different salon within the mall who were outraged that she would even let me leave with the color I had. Apparently this salon has a bad reputation within the mall. It took over 4 hours to get my hair fixed. The end result: we had to dye it brown. So I went from having long, blonde hair, to now having brown, short choppy hair. It will be awhile before the length grows back, over a year I'm sure. I'm still getting use to it, and am very thankful for the people who helped me fix it. I will never get use to the length; but I've found if I put it in a bun I'll just pretend its stlll long and that I never cut it. Please, if you are reading this head my words.
