What began as a nice mother daughter mani pedi turned into a disappointing experience for us both. We had different nail techs. Nail chipping began the same evening on my daughter's nails and a few days after on my nails. I contacted the salon and spoke with Ann. She said she was the owner, to return and they would redo our nails. My daughter had a flight the next morning. No refund was offered. Unfortunately, I decided to go back because I knew gel nails had to be fixed / removed by the salon.. The owner, Ann, said that only she would take care of me. Upon my return, she did nothing to prep my nails. No soak or care taken. She ripped the gel off with a metal instrument. taking the top of my nails with it. I told her this was painful, but she ignored me. She used a drill on top of my nails after she'd ripping them off. At this point I felt I no choice but to have her reapply the polish. It was done sloppily after I refused her recommendation of an up-sale to Acrylic nails. She also said the color I'd chosen was one that chipped easily. I selected it from a book handed to me by my original nail tech. I felt quite bullied. She was aware I'd only had my nails done a couple of times in a salon. Once again, just two days later my nails began chipping. Now, I must find a reputable nail tech to remove the polish and hopefully my nail beds aren't too damaged by her rough careless treatment. The day my daughter and I had our nails done I was unable to pay because they don't accept American Express. My daughter paid with Venmo and I reimbursed her later. Ann, tip shamed my daughter because she didn't approve of the tip. I handed her an additional $20.00 in cash. I wonder now if our nail techs ever received our tip. I don't recommend this nail salon to anyone. Maybe it's worth also mentioning that day I noticed someone with an open leg wound receiving a pedicure prompting me to inquire if they had an autoclave for instruments. They had no idea what I meant. After explaining; I was told they had one. I looked around since we were seated at the far end of the salon. I saw no evidence of one. I did see dirty instruments tossed in a pile. It was over $200.00 for both of us not including the $35.00 tip. I believe this to be about average. So, not a cheap salon; Just cheap in quality. Ann was very rude to both of us. Based upon her attitude and actions towards me the day I returned to have my nails redone; it's my feeling she deliberately damaged my nails because she resented redoing them even though she offered to do so. In hindsight I wish I'd said nothing and just found another salon. I'm writing this review to warn others. There seem to be a lot of options in this area for nail salons. I hope my experience will help anyone reading this to make a better choice. I hope Ann reads this review and her customer service improves. We are treated like old friends every-time we walk in the salon. I give Lynn, my pedicure stylist, the hardest job with me not staying on a consistent schedule but she takes her time and does beautiful work. I have not been disappointed yet. After my visit, I am always ready to wear open toed shoes, sandals or whatever to show off my color selection. I also get my eyebrows waxed, Lynn spoils me and makes sure they are perfect. I typically come here and I've had some decent experiences in the past. Today when I went, I was taken back for my pedicure and literally sat 25 minutes in the water before someone even attended me. Next, when I got my manicure I was getting French tip and was asked if I wanted a deep curve or regular . I just happened to ask if there was a price difference (which I never have done) and she said there actually was! $8 for regular and $15 for deep! So this entire time I've been getting charged extra for the curve on French tip. These nail shops literally charge for everything and It's just ridiculous. The quality of work is okay but not worth the extra costs. This I will not be coming back. Don't let the location fool you. This salon is clean, comfortable, and friendly. I've been twice now for mani/pedis and they've been excellent each time (both walk-ins w/ zero wait time). My recent visit was with Julie who gave a phenomenal hot stone pedicure. Her husband, Kevin, helped w/ the mani in the pedi chair because they had another commitment, but it didn't feel rushed at all. I actually preferred it over moving from the back to the front. I got to enjoy the massage chair longer! Tracy finished me up with a little nail art for Pride. I had shown Julie a pic of what I wanted and she coordinated the right color and artist to get it done. I never get my nails done and wanted to do something for myself to destress. I had been growing my nails out for over a month in hopes I'd find time for a manicure. I came in and asked for a gel manicure. The lady at the front brought me back and sat me with another stylist. She asked if she could cut my nails. I said yes but only to even them out and to please keep them long. She cut and showed me one, and I said, no please keep them longer. She immediately continued to cut all of my nails SUPER short and tried putting fake nails on! For whatever reason she thought I wanted a full set of fake nails when I clearly asked for a gel manicure. Now they're super short and look terrible. And the stylists were clearly bickering about it the whole time behind the counter which ruined the whole experience. They also charged extra because I used a different color on each nail - not a pattern, nothing custom, literally just four solid color choices. That's literally the same amount of polish. It makes no sense. $40 for nails that look worse than when I came in. Aside from that, I was asked to change chairs four times when there were clearly other chairs available. The manager was conveniently in the back when I went to pay. I didn't want to make a scene and thought I would be okay with it, but by the time I got home, I was so upset. I eventually called back and the manager said it's "against her policy" to give a refund, which is total BS. Her only solution was to come back and get a pedicure. I just wanted a refund. *Disclaimer - A friend of mine wanted to go for Mani/Pedis about a month ago and said we should go to Venus. I was excited because Ive been to Venus before and had a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, my friend booked appointments at the Venus Nails in Massaponax (next to Planet Fitness in the Target plaza). You may want to read that review first. I told her, after that experience, I would take her to the good Venus Nails in Fredericksburg. Venus might not feel like its in the best neighborhood. It is right on Rt. 1. Busy road, the plaza is older, and the number of old broken cars around could scare you off. DONT LET IT! As soon as you enter, you are greeted by a light and spa-like beauty. Beautiful marble tiled floors, white wave paneled walls, and beach scene wallpaper sets the mood for what has always been a relaxing and exceptional experience. Upon being seated for pedicures, we were offered beverages, coffee, tea, water, or soda. We accepted the offer and beverages were brought to us. My two friends were getting manicures and pedicures while I opted for just the pedicure. I asked for the Men's Sport Pedicure - sugar scrub, callus treatment, moisturizing masque, paraffin wax and lotion massage ($55). While technically it is the only "Men's" option on the menu, it still offers Polish, so any and all menu items are available to men and women. My pedicurist was good (not great, but not horrible). Minor polite conversation and thorough attention paid to my feet and legs. I think she massaged my legs a little extra since my friends were getting manicures and I was alone in my pedicure chair. I was in Fburg for a hair appointment and decided to treat myself to a pedi. I checked other salons in the area, and this had great reviews. I called to make an appointment, and they said I could come in. When I arrived I said I had an appt. She yelled back to someone, who then yelled back. Nothing was said to me. I just stood there. So I walked over and picked out a color. Shortly later I was told to go to the back. I chose the reflexology pedi. My nail tech proceeded to SCRUB my calves. Very little time was spent on my feet. My expectations for reflexology were low, but this was bad. Now, let's skip to the toe paint. When we were done, my nails had a bumpy/wavy pattern in them. When I asked the tech about it, she said "the polish was old, pick a new one". (We were done, and I pointed it out. Why wouldn't she have told me when she realized it was "old") I was now sitting in the front under the dryer, she brought over a stool, a polish she suggested was *good* and proceeded to change my polish up there. I invited my friend to what we thought was going to be a fun nail salon day, but it turned into a disaster. This was also my first time getting acrylic nails EVER so this whole experience just makes me want to do my own nails at home. As soon as my friend and I walked in, we noticed it was busy and a bit chaotic. After signing in, the nail tech grabbed my arm and led me to a chair to get my nails done. Now, of course, I understand that the nail techs have to touch my hands to do my nails, but I didn't agree to be agressively led to a chair by my arm. I'm not a small child that needs to be physically led like that. Anyway, I sat down expecting for her to take her time, so I was thinking I would be there for an hour at least from what others have told me about their acrylic nail experience. NOPE. I was done in 20 minutes. Clearly, the shop wanted me in and out because she cut both of my pinkies and made my one thumb crooked (see photos). I thought she would've used a form to make sure the shape was consistent throughout, but she just eyeballed it (which is fine if you know what you're doing) and now I have a crooked nail. Additionally, she didn't push back my cuticles back. I would've been fine with this except my friend got her cuticles pushed back, so the service seems inconsistent. Lesson learned: speak up if they are physically hurting you and advocate for yourself because this place will cut corners with their service AND cut your fingers. NOW, onto my friends horrible experience: They sat her in a chair soaking off her previous gel nails for an hour. When I was done with my nails in lightning speed time, I checked on her to see how her nail process was going, and her gel polish was already off at that time. They just forgot about her for 40 extra minutes and left her sitting there. Then when they pushed her cuticles back, they were cutting her cuticles but they cut way too close and made her bleed a lot. She asked for them to use an alcohol to clean the wound and they told her that using the towel they had would work instead. She then asked for round, even length nails. When she got round nails on all nails except her thumbs, they told her "No, we can't do that on your thumb". At this point my friend wanted to leave since it had already take at least an hour and she told them to just put one coat of her nail polish on. A few positive things about this place: --other staff were nice and the lady at the front desk was so incredibly kind. --it seemed clean, despite it being packed with people. --it was decorated nicely read more
