My hair stylist for the last 8 years was also an Ulta Girly in the Philadelphia area. I mainly trust Ulta girlies with my hair & beauty needs. I've never had a bad hair or brow service when I put my trust in an Ulta girly. But as I will be moving in with my boyfriend in the coming months, I wanted to find someone closer to him. I'm so glad I was able to find someone so amazing so quickly! PARKING Starting right off, there's plenty of parking. Huge parking lot! I went on a Wednesday slightly before afternoon so there was plenty of parking, but the holiday rush may be different. Theres a lot of other great places in the plaza not just Ulta. SHOPPING EXPERIENCE OVERALL I came with my boyfriend who enjoyed spraying the colognes & figuring out his next scent. They are under lock & key (that IS expected of luxury brands), but there's testers, test strips, and coffee beans out. The store was well-stocked and everything was easy to find. Super clean experience. HAIR SALON The waiting area isn't much of a waiting area. I think maybe at most 3 people could fit on the bench. And that is probably the only thing I'd adjust. My boyfriend came with me to get my hair done, and I'm so glad it was empty when we went so he had space to sit and relax. The open floor plan is nice with the big mirrors stationed in front of each chair. But it also could feel tight or cramped (for the stylist) compared to the way the salon used to be set up in the old days before Ulta opted for an open floor plan layout. But seeing as Ulta Nanuet is a newer location, and opened in December of 2022, this was already around the time when Ulta opted for the new layout to try and revive the space and make it more approachable to shoppers. Now people know Ulta does beauty services while in the past, a lot of people didn't know because services were in another room. It is nice to be able to see in and see everything out in the open. HAIR APPOINTMENT I didn't wait long. I found someone early on to let them know I was here for my appointment. And then not long after Corin was ready for me. I will not lie. I was nervous. But Corin put me at ease. She has a very approachable personality and attitude. I showed her a video of the hair I wanted it, and she killed it. Honestly, I think my hair looks better than the video. I've definitely found the hair stylist for me for a long time! And I'm very happy I did! Everyone has complimented my hair. She's given my hair life! It's so soft & flowy! Now I just have to teach myself to make it look this good all the time! Not to mention the amazing scalp massage she did. I was not expecting that. PRICE The price of everything cannot be beat. I cannot wait to come back and get more services done. I have found the perfect place for me for a very long time. OVERALL I'm VERY satisfied. Anyway, as for the products, I came here looking for a specific type of synthetic braiding hair for box braids I plan to get this weekend. They did have the brand but not in the colors I needed. It was very difficult to tell what they had because everything is mixed around and out of place and the employees do not try to fix it. One employee actually said to me, "Yeah, it's all mixed around so it's hard to find anything." As for the customer service... this is the main reason I gave this place ONE STAR! I do not expect customer service to be perfect because I know that is not realistic in most businesses, sadly. But this was just awful. Here are some examples listed in the order of when I walked in to when I left: 1. As I walked in a man approached one of the workers and asked the worker how much a certain hat was. The employee responded by saying, "Oh I don't work here but that guy does," and pointed to the man behind the counter; who was servicing a very long line at the time. I then watched the employee who claimed he didn't work there pull out a key and open a jewelry display for another customer. Very odd... 2. I was searching for the hair I needed in the disorganized cluster of mixed brands/ colors while a woman who worked there was standing a few feet from me. I did not realize she was standing there or else I would've asked for her help. (I'm not one of those annoying people who stands there waiting to be asked if I need anything). It is her job to notice customers, even before they notice her but whatever. It wasn't that big of a deal. She's actually the reason I'm giving this place one star because once I did get her attention she was very helpful. 3. THE WORST PART about this whole experience was the check out process. It took me so long to find what I needed, that by the time I was about to check out I had 15 minutes until my lunch break was over. There was a woman in front of me who couldn't decide if she wanted a certain product and was taking awhile. There were two registers so when another employee came up I assumed it was to help me. But he just started bothering the girl behind the counter. I asked him if he could please ring me up because I had to get back to work. He pointed at the girl behind the counter and said she will. I then said please I have to get to work (the woman in front of me still hadn't decided if she wanted the product and the line was now a few people long.) He just laughed and looked at the employee ringing up the indecisive customer and said he didn't feel like ringing anyone up. I then said pleaseeee sir I really need to get back to work (I now only had 10 minutes left.) The female employee told him he had to ring me up and to just do it.
