So maybe this review is a little outdated, but I'm ok with that. I'd like to think my review is still valid, that they haven't changed much and still employ hardworking people who seem genuinely interested in connecting with their clients to find them a position they're a good fit for and don't just look at them with dollar signs in their eyes as potential commission. Anyways, a couple weeks from college graduation with no real plans to speak of, I was awake at 3 am and for whatever reason posted a resume to Monster.com. The next day I received a phone call from Lab Pros who said they had seen my resume and asked if I wanted to come in for an interview with them. I hadn't thought of going the headhunter route to find a job, but hey, what the heck, right? So I went for the interview and met with a very likable headhunter. I know that her job was to find me a job, but I was treated with such courtesy and professionalism that I felt she was personally invested in me and any commission or bonus for finding me a job was secondary to my needs. (We all know that's probably not true, but the important thing was I was treated as such). She did indeed find me a temp job working in a lab, which I'm happy to say turned permanent five months later and I am still there today. My only critique of this place is that the resumes they send to potential employers aren't very impressive looking. When I showed up for my interview, I saw a resume on LabPros letterhead that I didn't create--it looked very condensed compared to what I had originally posted on Monster and nothing like my own personally crafted resume. I handed my interviewers copies of my own resume and more than once heard the remark that the one I created did much more to sell them on me than the one from the employment agency. Still, you've got to figure that employers who use agencies like this are accustomed to seeing their company resume formats and shouldn't hold it against interviewing candidates. So, I knocked off one star the resume I saw, but that's the only negative critique I have for this agency. If the need arose (and God willing it won't), I would not hesitate to contact Lab Pros again for job seeking assistance.

Apparently within day 3 of the training bit I was let go because as the trainer put it? I wasn't navigating their computer systems well enough? That lady mind you had it in for me. Since day one I could sense she disliked me anyways. When it was suppose to take 2wks of training to fully grasps the whole thing. I have more than enough computer skills, call center and customer service along with alot more other skills to back me up here. They total clerical at Boston Ma offices, said the company dealings of the way they handled the situation was very unprofessional. They Total clerical services promised me another job at a goverment housing development office of which I was ready to start per them within 2wks of my first assignment ending the way that it did. I went there personally to find out what happened to job I was supposedly to start. They said oh its been filled already. But keep calling us we should have other leads turn up within a short time. The recruiter was adamant that I tell my boss ASAP. I realize that this was so he could recognize revenue ASAP as well. Because I didn't wait to give my notice, I would up costing myself a 10K bonus from my company. I tried to get the recruiters to postpone the start date and they told me that this was not possible. They pretty much bullied me into submission. It turns out that my new boss said that he would have waited a few days for me to be able to collect the bonus. Bowdoin also lied to my new boss, saying that I had another deal in the pipeline. At that time,I did not. Very controlling. Very clueless. Avoid at all costs.

It's unusual to find a recruiting agency that operates likes that. Usually recruiting agencies only operate on their own agendas but The Bowdoin Group knows the importance of providing quality service. I went to one of their networking events and thought it was great, they talk to everyone, see what jobs they can refer them too, nice people. Free food and drinks doesn't hurt either.

The pay you min wage and jack up their bill rate to their clients who must be on drugs dealing with them. I have been told they don't pay at times when you are contracting with them. They also tell their contractors we will only give you unemployment if you give us leads and if you don't they will call unemployment canceling it on you!
