This is WHY the turnover rate is so high! Let me tell you, I even had PARENTS tell me how unfair it was for us to have that many kids in our care. I even had my PARENTS help me because it was too much. When I was doing my training which just consisted of a packet to fill and a notebook with information. Not ONCE was I asked if I wanted a flat surface to do my work on, instead, I used my lap. Not ONCE was I checked on, with a simple, "how are things going, is there a way to make things easier for you to transition," OR "I know this is a lot right now, but you're doing a GREAT JOB."As a Christian Preschool, there is a BIG disconnect between the two. I was also "expected" to know where things were. I was NEVER formally introduced in depth to the building or to the second person in charge which gave me an attitude and the person training to EXPECT to know where it was when we had trash full of dirty diapers (did they just expect us to stink up the classroom? ), for instance, the janitor. I was NOT properly trained. There were criteria but how can you do it in the RIGHT state of mind when you have to get to know OTHER kids? There's a reason why teachers quit. I've been in child care and behavior therapy for children with Autism and this is the worst experience I've ever had. She pretty much told me "childcare isn't for everyone," no, you don't treat your employees unfairly in childcare. Through a grapevine parents from the church wouldn't ENROLL THEIR KIDS THERE. PROS: - The staff was nice - Children were sweet CONS: - Management 100% - UNSAFE playground entry gate (broken) in a second someone can walk in or the kiddo can walk out - Late lunches - Communication between manager and staff is horrible - Disgusting toilets - Unfair ratio requirements - * YOU DON'T leave the time agreed upon (seems like for the most part) - No medical, vision, dental, no maternity leave - Minimum wage if resign without 2 weeks THINK ABOUT IT FIRST! We found this center after my daughter who was in kindergarten did not meet the minimum requirement on the test in public school to enter the Gifted and Talented Program. The next year, when she was In first grade, we decided to find her help and enrolled her into the Smarts Club Prep Class for the Gifted and Talented Test. When she took the test that year she was scored exceptionally high and was accepted into the program. We credit her acceptance into GT to the curriculum of the prep class and the support of Dr. Meenew and her staff. Our daughter was prepared for the test and had confidence in her abilities. She was actually excited to take the test that year! Every program we have enrolled our children in has been exceptional. The tutors are patient and have a way of helping the kids understand difficult concepts with ease. We immediately withdrew both our 18 month old and 4 year old from the school and notified Child Services. The school didn't even make an effort to call us. We got a cheesy "so sorry to hear you're unhappy" e-mail and then silence. Parents have chimed in that they have seen teachers on their phones and not paying attention. Our 18 month teacher was horridly guilty of this. I've been told that she now teaches the 3-4 year old class. This organization rewards seniority and tenure rather than performance and reliability. There were good moments too though, which really makes writing this review so bittersweet. Our child did learn Chinese and there were staff members who did do their best to create a nice environments. Tuition was very fair and food was included. However, bad safety and the poor actions of some have ruined this school for our family.
