After some testing by Alex's team we learned that our blower was not properly sealed along with nearly every duct upstairs. Downstairs was leaking 11% and upstairs by over 20%! The original installer had left a gap that was the size of small bathroom window causing a lot of inefficiency in our HVAC. Imagine trying to cool your home in the summer with a bathroom window left open. Further, had I elected to purchase $50k in new equipment I likely would not have passed the testing with the duct leakage and had to purchase this service anyway. I would suggest that the average homeowner probably does not fully recognize how these systems are sized and balanced to deliver comfort, nor the benefits of sealing. In my case, I was likely spending 25%+ more on energy than necessary for the HVAC design and putting the equipment at risk of early failure. Alex does an excellent job of explaining how and why sealing delivers cost savings and improves comfort. The testing and remediation staff were very professional and orderly. I don't have a full year yet of a/c bills to compare, but I can tell from heating alone that rooms are getting better airflow. The final test results took what was an average of 15% air loss to less than 1%. The service is not cheap, but I believe it will payback over the next few years and delay the need for new equipment. If you know you want sealing this company is fantastic! So much so that it gave me the confidence to buy my first home without A/C because I knew I could just call Calvey. A few years later I did just that. Damn, it's been a couple of months now and I've been able to control the climate of my entire house from my phone, optimizing the temperature and sometimes making it as low as 66F to just enjoy the air being crisp. The install has been fantastic quality and the crew listened to everything I wanted every step of the way. They mounted rat spikes where I wanted, they put the lines and the units exactly where I asked and I've had no issues at all. I truly believe with home price comparisons in my area that I made money off of the install because it increased my home value. My golden retriever is happy, I am 100% happy and I will see you guys again next home upgrade. :)

Asked about having them diagnose that problem and also do routine cleaning on the that A/C and on a separate heat pump that services our ADU. Lady who took the call was very nice and patient. She explained that a diagnostic visit was different from a maintenance call, so we first set up two separate appointments. Then she said "wait a minute" and after a minute said there was a service guy who was willing to do the cleaning as well. Kenny came out the next week, inspected and cleaned both units, and also explained that the MERV 13 filters we've been using are probably straining our condenser and for everyday use a lower filter would be better. Everything's clean and working well now and the price was very reasonable.
