It started to rain but that didn't stop me. As long as I stayed along the trail close to the Hillsborough River, I didn't get too wet. The trail had a lot of shaded trees. There are two playgrounds, quite a few picnic shelters, and a boat ramp. There's plenty of parking and they keep the park relatively clean. It even is a stop for the water taxi. I would come back again.

It's so nice having a playground so close to Armature Works…read more I think an idyllic afternoon is grabbing a bite to eat and a drink at Armature Works and then walking with the kids to this playground/splash pad. There are restrooms here that make it easy to change your children into their bathing suits. They also have shaded picnic tables. The splash pad and playground is gated so you can let the kids run around inside while you sit and chat on the outside of the gate at the shaded picnic tables. I would highly recommend bringing swimsuits and all your water stuff if you decide to come here, because the playground part is quite small and in the same area as the splash pad. They aren't separated, so your child will most likely get wet whether you want them to or not if you come here, better to just prepare for them to get wet. The splash pad has one of those buckets that fill up and then dump all over the children, which I find kids absolutely love. There is also a ropes climbing part that they can get to a crows nest, so I would say the ideal age for this play area is between four and 10. I have a five year-old and a seven-year-old and they loved it.

Your young small children can ride this ride all on their own. Children must be under 42 inches tall to ride and infants younger than 1 years old are not permitted. Aside from the ride's sign with Rosita on it, the ride is missing any reference in theming to Rosita, Sesame Street, or Africa. Theming of this ride could greatly be improved. This ride is a little on the boring side and not a ride the kids wanted to repeat. This ride had the shortest line out of all the rides at Sesame Street Safari of and appears to be the least popular ride in the area. This ride's Sesame Street mascot is Rosita who is a turquoise, bilingual monster from Mexico. Rosita's full name is Rosita, la Monstrua de las Cuevas (Rosita, the Monster of the Caves). Rosita is five years old. Rosita often presents the Spanish Word of the Day, and frequently plays her guitar. Rosita has wings attached to her arms, akin to those of another cave-dwelling creature, the fruit bat. Rosita can fly and glide like a flying squirrel but has trouble with making landings. This ride's African tie-in is a djembe, which is a rope-tuned skin-covered goblet drum played with bare hands, originally from West Africa. According to the Bambara people in Mali, the name of the djembe comes from the saying "Anke djé, anke bé" which translates to "everyone gather together in peace" and defines the drum's purpose. The base of this ride vaguely resembles a brown djembe drum but it is not obvious to the average park visitor unless you point it out to them.
