Came by after dinner with my family. There was ample seeting inside. The chocolate display made it so tempting to indulge. The Gelato was the main event. We had 3 cones. Cone 1: Match and wanna cotta. The matcha was high quality you can taste the earthyness to it. It was delightful. Cone 2: white chocolate with hazelnut ice cream. Tasted amazing. Not overly sweet. Cone 3: my daughter likes what she likes. Vanilla and chocolate. But she opted for the 70% dark chocolate. I was surprised. It wasn't too bitter and the ultimately finished it. read more

If you want to feel like you're in Italy or back in Italy, you ought to stop by here for some dessert after dinner. The best part about it is that you don't even need to simply order chocolates. We had the itch to get some gelatos. I myself wanted a mango gelato and wasn't disappointed with it at all. Fortunately, there were a few open tables outside so we were able to enjoy every bite of our ice cream. But yes, I should come back for chocolates in the future. read more

P r i c e y ! But worth every dollar. Came in with my friend on a frigid evening for some hot chocolate (~$8 for an 8 oz cup). Soooo delicious! It's thick, beautifully smooth, and has luscious chocolate flavor. The sweet whipped cream is also delightful. I ended up walking out with a box of chocolates for a Christmas gift. If you sign up for their emailing list, you also get a free mini chocolate bar of your choice. read more

It's 1am and I am dreaming of Venchi's. Now that summer has passed, Venchi's close early at 11pm instead of the summer hours of 1am. Wishing I could stroll by for a late night gelato. The hazelnut, and panna cotta are truly divine. Especially when you get a regular cone that comes with two flavors. Sometimes if you really want to treat yourself, try the large cone that offers three, different flavors. The service is great, the atmosphere can be very busy on a summer evening. Now that the weather is cooler, the crowds will be less, and you can take your time to savor the various chocolates. Venchi's is my favorite place to enjoy a gelato! read more

Went on a cold winter night, ordered a hot chocolate. Service was fast and efficient. It's a chocolate shop with about 8 seats. Cute for a quick get out of the reading snow blizzard. I did not want to come here for hot chocolate I didn't think it was going to be anything special. I don't regret to say, I reallyyyy enjoyed my hot coco I got here. It was the first snow of NYC and it was the perfect thing to keep me warm and cozy. The hot chocolate tasted of high quality, it wasn't too sweet and didn't taste artificial. A great gelato and chocolate shop! I came here after brunch and thought that it was delicious. There isn't much seating inside, but there's plenty outside (which would make it the perfect treat on a sunny day). Went here with a friend to get dessert after our meal at an Italian restaurant nearby. We were amazed by the store's setup, with chocolates, candies, and unique gifts placed on the wall and around the store. I would definitely recommend sampling before ordering, as there are unique flavors such as parmesan and extra virgin olive oil along with more traditional gelato flavors. Just WOW when you walk into the store. It's brightly lit and you feel so welcomed with all the chocolate on the wall. It's a kid in a candy/ice cream store literally!! When you see the pistachio as a dark green color than that bright mint green color, you know this is the real deal. The pistachio flavor was on point to whqt a real pistachio nut taste like when you crush it. Baciodidama is the other glavor i chose and this is chocolatemixed with hazelnutwith biscuits crushed. I stopped by Joe's Pizza for a late night snack, and came across Venchi with a line out the door. I went in to see what this place was, and was immediately intrigued with the chocolate and gelato selections. I decided to circle back after my pizza. I got a double scoop of chocolate and pistachio. The gelato was so silky good. They also ask if you want them to top the gelato with a piece of chocolate. Why would anyone say no?!? Yeah, I know not everyone likes chocolate, but I love chocolate, so it was an immediate yes please. I ate my gelato as I walked back to my hotel in SoHo. It was a perfect end to the night. They open pretty late, so if you are looking for a late night sweet treat, this is definitely the place to go. There was also a coffee shop next door plus Joe's Pizza a few doors down. This place is incredible and the staff is quite friendly and accommodating. This chocolate place is to die for with their exquisite gelato. Yes the gelato is not inexpensive but it's worth the price. The place is small and though they have seats inside, it's crowded especially with their display of wonderful chocolate bonbons, but when there are screaming children that prevents you from enjoying your treats, i rather go out. Fortunately they had available seating outside where you can enjoy your gelato peacefully and people watch. read more

My baby sister bought a small cup of gelato here, took one bite, and immediately noticed a strange aftertaste. She went back in politely to let the staff know and asked if she could swap it for another flavor. At first, the supervisor, Chris, said yes -- but then changed his mind when he realized the ice cream wasn't for a child and claimed their policy doesn't allow exchanges or refunds. Instead of showing understanding or even basic courtesy, he became dismissive and rude. We left the untouched ice cream on the counter and walked out with nothing -- no refund, no replacement, just disrespect. What kind of customer service is that? Policies aside, it's about how you treat people. The staff clearly lacked professionalism and made the entire situation uncomfortable. Our family of eight was next in line but decided to leave too. Not worth supporting a business that treats paying customers this way. read more

While in the city on a hot day my friends and I were craving ice cream and the first place we saw was Venchi. Luck was on our side that day because what we experienced was the most decadent high quality gelato I've ever tasted! I got my cup lined with chocolate and nuts, and went with a combo of coconut sorbet and the Azteco which is a vegan friendly extra-dark chocolate. I was a little hesitant with the Azteco though it seemed to be a popular flavor, so I asked the person helping me if I could have a sample which he gladly gave me. It was delicious, decadantnot too bitter and so refreshing. I was sold!! I honestly can't wait to go back for more. I am not in the city often but the next time I'm there, I will definitely be checking to see if there is a Venchi nearby. I also heard there is one at short hills, I hope they sell the gelato! read more

We were not even remotely hungry, as we'd just eaten, among other things, a pastrami sandwich and a slice of pizza, but we'd heard good things about Venchi's gelato, so obviously we had to try it. We went with the classic Pistachio flavor and got it in the smallest size they have available. It's incredible. I think I might even go so far as to say it's the best gelato I've ever had. It's just so impossibly smooth and creamy, and that robust pistachio flavor is so damn delicious. Yeah, Venchi lives up to their reputation, and then some. read more

STAFF SO NICE!!! See below for review of what I tried: Parmesan ice cream Parmesan ice cream... I tried it and I will be honest with you. It wasn't't my favorite. Chunks of Parmesan in there. Not for the faint of heart. The ice cream itself I liked the flavor kind of like cheesecake but with a little more funk.. but I did not like the pieces of the cheese in the ice cream. January in New York calls for a Hot Chocolate from Venchi. Italian hot chocolate, thick and rich topped with freshly whipped cream was the perfect way to take away the chill. Venchi's is on par with hot chocolate in Italy. Once we warmed up we had to have the Pistachio Gelato, the flavor brought me back to last summer on the Amalfi Coast. Venchi is solid gelato, and especially their chocolate has really high quality ingredients in it. I'm a little sad that it's so expensive when there's so many great gelato places that are worthwhile and scratch the itch in just the same way nearby/in the city. It's also not a large amount of gelato. However, the flavor is good so it doesn't get a bad review from me. They also have a large selection of chocolate for a treat for yourself or as gifts. Everything is pretty tasty but nothing to write home about. But you can get some pretty boutique chocolates here. All in all, I would recommend trying in your quest to find the best gelato but I think the gelato game is competitive and not sure I would feel the need to return personally. It's in a great location though and service was friendly. read more

Okay one of our favorite stops for chocolate,but we decided to try the gelato. oMG. Limited edition flavors are off the hook. I will be looking for more. I had the Olive Oil which was light and smooth and a good complement to the chocolate lined cup with roasted hazelnuts. But the flavor my palate adored was the Caramel Rosemary. Add to the cup with the olive oil flavor was heaven. As always the service was great with lots of tasting once you choose your size of serving. And a great outside seat to watch the crowds makes it even better. read more

My little two scoop ice cream cone was $14.00! It was the smallest scoops I've ever seen. Even the cone is the smallest and skinniest I've seen. I had no idea I was purchasing a bunch of expensive add-ons when they asked if I wanted whipped cream, a cone, and chocolate sauce. (Silly me, I thought that was included). It basically doubled the price. The cone I had (see pic) was Strawberry with 'Chocoviar', which is 75% dark chocolate, topped with whipped cream. It was delicious for a few seconds until it was gone. I left feeling totally ripped off with the silly add-ons and the tiny portion size. read more

Is this place expensive - yep. Is it delicious - yes. Is it worth the price - only you can decide but I say yes. It smells like the best dark chocolate and as a chocolate snob I'm here for this! Enjoy the gelato. They have excellent coffee. I didn't have a crepe but they looked great. I saw Venechi in Union Square last weekend and was curious about it. So when I saw this other location in the west village, my friend and I decided to try it. I LOVE gelato. The flavors I always gravitate towards are pistachio & hazelnut. I got the pistachio & Cremino. If you love hazelnut as much as I do, they have 4 types of hazelnut flavors. Try them all before you pick which one you want. The flavors taste authentic and not artificial or dyed. The cones are crunchy and delicious. Italian gelato chocolate shop located in the West Village right next to Joe's pizza. Perfect dessert after pizza. Pretty lit and aesthetic, the line was long but it went by pretty quickly, it was out the door close to the stop light but took about 15-20 minutes to make it up front and that's because the workers really gave each group attention and let us sample and not rush folks. This gave me enough time to figure out what to order and what was popular. I sampled a couple of the chocolate hazelnut ones and if you subscribed to their email then you could get a discount, the workers patiently waited and gave everyone compliments. Great service! I got the regular (up to 2 flavors) cremino (cocoa & hazelnut) and pistachio. The workers all said I did a great choice and chose very popular flavors. I got it on a cone and dipped it in chocolate and hazelnuts with dark chocolate on top. It was Soo good! I really enjoyed it and thought it was worth the wait. My friend got a baby (1 scoop) of mango (vegan) in a cup. Also was really good! There are no bathrooms inside, plenty of seating outside, surrounding, lots of chocolates to buy and I would say there is some street parking but it is a busy area. read more

This was my first visit for gelato and I will be back! I was so happy to see coconut stracciatella on the menu and ordered without hesitation. My friend got cashew in the chocoviar lined cup and said the chocolate cup overpowered the ice cream, but it was still tasty. I will be back for the tiramisu ice cream and a chocolate bar. Note, the checkout for candy is a separate line from the gelato and you need to grab what you want from the candy side before getting in the gelato line if you want to pay at once. They stay so busy it is hard to wait for a break in the gelato line to get checked out with just candy. read more

On the hunt for a GOOD cup of Hot White Chocolate or a decent cup of Hot Chocolate. No White and the hot cup of chocolate was a DRINK.. not hot chocolate milk / customarily what a Hot Chocolate lover wants. The chocolate was NO different than any other fancy European chocolate except a tad more expensive and comes with a "strong arm" salesperson that was quite obnoxious when you didn't want to buy a lb of chocolate for the same cost as a down payment for a car or... maybe even a house. I really think this space will come available within 2024. Please make inquiries to rent this spot.

The staff was incredibly sweet and welcoming they let us sample the milk chocolate with hazelnut, and wow... it was so smooth and delicious. Not overly sweet at all just perfectly balanced. The store itself was very spacious, clean, and beautifully laid out. We had the chance to try a few different chocolates, but we couldn't resist going back for more of the milk chocolate with hazelnut. On top of that, the attendant at the front surprised us with even more samples, which was such a thoughtful touch. I'll definitely be back!

In general, I find Lindt too sweet, but that is also coming from someone who is a dark chocolate lover. For this location specifically, the staff here are friendly and give samples, which is a plus. Anyway, if you're wondering why you'd want to stop here instead of just going to the literal CVS around the corner which sells their products, you can customize stuff better here, and there are many more options. Along with the standard truffles they are famous for, there are flavors available only at this location, as well as seasonal ones. Some current ones include shortbread, made with milk chocolate, as well as a snickerdoodle, which I didn't realize was made with white chocolate, or else I wouldn't have purchased that one (it was still tasty,) and others. The truffles are around 62¢ post-tax for a single one, so it's a little cheap and tasty treat. Outside of truffles, there are bars, some fancier chocolates, and bark, among many other things. Of course, there's a Dubai option like every other chocolatier in case you want to purchase a cheapo version here. Obviously, the chocolates in general are not as high-quality as Läderach, Li-Lac, and other spots, but they are at very different price points, so that's to be expected. The latter spots are more artisanal, while this is a step up from Hershey's "chalk-olate" and other cheaper brands. If you're looking to buy a gift without paying an exorbitant price but still want a step up from Hershey's or similar places, I would recommend going here.

Also speaking of they have lots of drinks other than beers, including wines, ciders, cocktails, coffee and a couple NA beers. Due to the impending storm they were closing early but my wife and I each got a beer. I got their New England IPA called Sun Up which was citrusy and juicy with a touch of bitterness/hoppy notes. Then my wife got their fruited sour Peach Berry Punch that definitely had a punch of pink guava and peach but the berry was more subtle. Two great beers with plenty of other styles available too. Service was friendly with a smile and took no time to get our beers. Such a positive experience we plan on returning to give their cocktails a try! An absolute must visit for beer lovers who find themselves near Bryant Park! (Also non-beer lovers since they offer so much more too.)

I am a devotee of dark chocolate, and have tried every dark offering it has. Each is superb, even flavor combinations I haven't historically adored (like orange and chocolate - I know it's popular, but it's just not my favorite). That said, my personal favorite is the Anastasia, a hazelnut and dark praline enrobed in dark chocolate. It is exquisite. Service is always excellent. I've ordered in person and over the phone, and have always been so pleased with the staff. The website is helpful when ordering a variety, but if you'd like an entire box of Anastasia, for example, you have to call the Rockefeller Center store and place the order by phone. They ship once a week, and I always have my box fairly quickly. Boxes make terrific gifts ... including for yourself. If you're walking in, I recommend sitting down to enjoy a few pieces of chocolate, then taking the rest in a box with you. There is a cozy but comfortable seating area in the back just for this. This area is also an ideal place to enjoy some of their drinking chocolate. Highly, highly recommend.
