On this trip to Italy I skipped lunch and enjoyed this treat and sat in the piazza to relax and watch the people. The shop is smaller but service is professional and quick. There is a lot of temptation to also purchase a variety of chocolate pieces/bars. Do yourself a favor and give in. You will do enough walking to justify it.

We were told that this place had the best affogato in all of Milan. I forgot who told me that, but…read morethey weren't kidding. This is by far the best affogato I've ever had in my life. It's been around since 1934 and is a local favorite. And now my favorite!!! You can choose your gelato flavor or go with the classic. I went with the chocolate gelato. They meticulously shape it into a cup and then directly poured the espresso right in the center. Next they sprinkled chocolate shavings on the top. This is perfect to indulge in anytime during the day or night. I would give anything to have another cup of this deliciousness. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

Their special marocchino is a slightly bigger macchiato served in a glass cup with chocolate sauce inside. In other circumstances I would have been happy of this surprise, but today I wanted to avoid extra sugars and carbs, so i was not as happy as I should have been. I also wanted to limit to he carbs of the other person, but the espresso came with a light cookie. Again, a nice touch, but in the wrong moment. Whatever, those were my constraints, not their fault. Both the espresso with cookie and the special marocchino were very good. Recommended.

My wife and I tried four flavors between the two of us: ananas (pineapple), blood orange, pistachio, and stracciacella -- the first three were 5-star, delicious flavors, while the straciacella was disappointing (3 stars). While the staff was friendly and helpful (and they offer samples, which is great to try flavors, but it also slows the process a little bit), it is a popular spot, so prepare to wait for a few minutes before ordering. There is also limited seating inside, so between the few tables and the line waiting to be served, the storefront can get crowded. One extra benefit that didn't encourage me to visit but is a nice plus: Ciacco has a bathroom available for paying customers.
